I wanted to send gifts back to Belgrade for my AFS (American Field Service) sister's children. I told him what I wanted in the way of color and and price and he helped me pick out one carnelian and one coral heart pendants and changed out the leather necklaces to match the pieces. They were beautiful. And yesterday, I took in a James Avery pendant (a gift from friends) and asked if he could help me with a pair of earrings. It took him just a second to show me a beautiful pair of garnet and silver earrings which looked as if they were part of the set. They were $35.00! If I had gone to James Avery to buy the earrings that exactly matched my new pendant, they would have cost me $400.00. Great custom jewelry at great prices; these really are piece of art.

We were warmly greeted by Dara, who was a dream to work with. She explained the layout of the store, invited us to browse, and struck the perfect balance between giving us space to look and being available whenever we had questions. We never felt pressured, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Before coming in, we had gone through a disappointing experience with a big-box jeweler out of San Antonio. We waited six months for a custom 25th anniversary ring to be built, only to receive a final piece that was crooked and poorly made. After that, we were very discouraged about starting the process over, so we decided to search rings styles online in hopes of finding something ready-made. I came upon a beautiful semi-mount in an online supplier's catalog, but wasn't sure if I could even find a jeweler who had access to that manufacturer. A few days later, we walked into Diamonds of Kerrville on our way to San Antonio (without any expectations, just sheer curiosity). We spotted a stunning cluster diamond ring in one of the cases and decided to purchase it for when we travel (SCORE!). While getting sized for that piece, I happened to show Dara the anniversary ring design I saved on my phone, but didn't say the name of the manufacturer. I expressed my anxiety about trying to find another jeweler that could create something like what I envisioned. She offered to check their catalog to try and find something similar to the picture I had (I said "sure, why not")... and to my surprise, it was the EXACT SAME SUPPLIER. This is too good to be true! So now, not only can we order the VERY ring I fell in love with, but we get to work with this amazing, friendly and knowledgable company... right in our home-town. Their stellar customer service made the experience even better! Martin and Sherrie were amazing and answered all my questions about the design process (plus I got a very informative crash course on stones, settings, appraisals, and practical tips for day-to-day wear). This was our first purchase from Diamonds of Kerrville, but it definitely won't be our last. I'll be sure to update my review with photos once my anniversary ring is finished! Martin, on the opposite philosophy, greeted me decently, but then it went strange from there. I was on time. I had 6 items to be appraised. After looking at the items, he questioned about my insurance company and deductible (of which I have none yet, no knowing I was supposed to somehow have this chosen already). He doubted about my emotional attachment from these items from an inheritance vs. their value, and then from there, compromised the entire session by nitpicking on the items "may not worth the deductible or the emotional attachment for worth", which is MY RESPONSIBLITY to balance. I already had done this by being there. My reasons shouldn't matter. In fact, the more the attachment, the more the reason for appraisal. I wanted some tiny stones replaced; he said not worth it. Fine. Moving on. He then made comments like the verbal appraisals or confirmations on stones he was giving, were not enough worth for him to do, yet he shared with me a couple of verbal appraisals that FOR ME were DEFINITELY worth it to have had in writing. Obviously, you have to prove on paper to have a replacement for value. IF IT MATTERED THAT MUCH TO ME, WHY DIDN'T I STAY TO HAVE IT DONE? NOW I HAVE NO PROOF TO SHOW ANY VALUE. : MARTIN MADE ME AND MY ITEMS SEEM LIKE A PETTY BOTHER. I guess I was lucky he even took the time with me. I guess he didn't want the business and can make his money in an easier way(?) but couldn't figure out how to nicely say it. It was like I was going to have to FIGHT for an appraisal. Is it that difficult to just be grateful for business, happy to serve someone your profession, and do your work well? Was he not well? It's okay to reschedule. He did not offer any other options for appraisal. I HAD come in to the store SO happy to have another thing on my list done, enjoy peace of mind, and possibly enjoy the visit, but WITHIN 10 MINUTES, I told him I was SOOOO SORRY to have WASTED ANYONE'S TIME. With his verbal and nonverbal demeaning of the jewelry and my reasons, and not really getting down to the work, I figured out FAST that he was NOT my ally, didn't want to serve me, I was just such a piece of trash, me or my items. I quickly made sure I had all my items and LEFT. I WILL NEVER EVER RETURN FOR ANYTHING, ESPECIALLY A PURCHASE. By the way, his behavior was AN ANOMALY for the rest of my experiences in Kerrville. I LOVE YOU PEOPLE, KERRVILLE AND JUNCTION. YOU ARE AWESOME BEYOND BELIEF. I went away with a horrid feeling in the pit of my stomach that took me hours to assuage, along with feeling severely disturbed about the whole thing, not little but much miffed, puzzled and trying to fight against an indefinable feeling of disempowerment. He had "hazed" me, discounted me. NO PERSON WHO WALKS THROUGH YOUR DOORS IS A NOTHING, AND SHOULD NEVER BE MADE TO FEEL THIS WAY. I expected neither red carpet nor red tape. I had a purpose to accomplish a task. YOU, the business owner, employer or employee, greet the public: YOU KNOW NOTHING. I had not acted entitled, or come off as a person I'm not. At first, I was so grateful to be there and showed it. I had assumed he'd be a good person and want or be grateful for my work. That quickly changed. WRONG. I think he really looked at me and prejudged against me, like I couldn't pay or something worse. PREJUDICE IS NO WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS. TAKE IT FROM SOMEONE WHO'S HAD THEIR OWN BUSINESS... IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. I didn't think I looked bad. It was a hot day. I had already made the best of things and run a few other errands so probably looked a little tired. I wear a smile and a little makeup but not a lot. I do not have my hair done, it was tied up off my neck. I am not young but have young energy. I did not dress up dressy but looked nice, decent for the weather. Nothing was stained, torn or holey. I have a foot issue and have to be careful of my person. I send love out from me wherever I go. LIKE MOST PEOPLE, I WORK HARD, BEHIND THE SCENES AND THERE IS LITTLE CREDIT. Life has been work, pay or not. Always be kind. You never know another's situation, personal or other. Anyone appreciates kindness. *Say all the right things in the right way, you have good business. Say some right and maybe some wrong things in the right way, you will still have good business. But if you say wrong things in the wrong way, expect business to go wrong.* If APPRAISAL IS ADVERTISED ON THEIR SITE , and I called and set an appointment where I was treated professionally by Candace and no limitations or issues were stated, and I CAME HAPPILY FROM AN HOUR AWAY, ON TIME, why was he so hesitant to just be good and get to work? *WE CAN LIVE WITHOUT DIAMONDS BUT WE CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT EACH OTHER'S KINDNESS.
