But now, there is a family-run Italian restaurant is housed in the space. Here is why you should go to Amore: Friendly service Good, family-made Italian food Reasonable prices, with a varied menu Here is what Amore could do to get better: Improve on their appetizers Parmesan on salads, not mozzarella And not much else Amore is a fine choice for Italian fare, and reminds me of the old Angelo's that has been around for decades. The dishes have a fresh taste, the baked pasta dishes are screaming hot, and they fill your bread basket if you wish. With a couple of glasses of wine, house salads, and two baked dishes, two of us dined for about $60 plus a tip, and the value is absolutely there. It's not a five-star spot - yet - but Amore can absolutely get there. Solid option for Twin Lakes/Benjamin Hills residents.

Heard about this newer Italian restaurant recently in Wichita so decided to give it a try (the old…read moreNeighbors establishment). It wasn't extremely busy for a Friday night; only 2 servers on hand. A tad pricey for what little you get. The lasagna was a disappointment for me (paper thin noodles, mainly sauce and cheese, small portion), the meat ravioli was...ok. Not offered or provided: ice water, or a side salad (extra$). Thought that was odd. Homemade hard rolls and pesto were good. Our server was a tad "off" tonight. The ambience was not the usual experience we expected for a higher end Italian restaurant.

I, for the life of me, do not understand why Savute's is so highly rated. I don't typically leave a…read morereview, especially a bad review, after a single experience, ESPECIALLY when it's a local or family run business. I firmly believe that all businesses, especially restaurants, deserve multiple chances, as every single person and business has "off days." However, after giving Savute's no fewer than 5 chances, I just can't do it anymore. The quality of food is low. They advertise "fresh food" and "it's like coming home for dinner." Is the food "fresh?" Well, the sauces taste like they come in frozen and are thawed daily, and the pasta doesn't taste fresh either...if it's made in house, which I would strongly question, I don't think it's made daily. The steaks taste like lower-quality cuts and they seem to struggle with achieving a proper temperature and sear, as on one trip my wife and I ordered the exact same meal, mid-rare, and our steaks were wildly different, mine being almost perfect and hers looking boiled...almost grey with little sear and very little pink. The salads remind me of the Pizza Hut salad bar that we all grew up with, with dirty tasting lettuce and bland mix-ins. Now, don't take this to mean that the food is horrible tasting, because it's perfectly edible, but the quality just doesn't justify the price (the prices listed here on Yelp are many years out of date); Think Fazoli's quality pasta/sauces at $15-20 per entree. The atmosphere at Savute's is very out of date. They pride themselves on being open since 1944, an impressive feat no doubt, but the restaurant appears as if it hasn't been touched since they moved to the current location in the 50's. Decor isn't something that I typically care too much about, but I don't like to eat somewhere that feels "dingy," and that's how Savute's feels. Not everything about Savute's is bad. The service has always been very good, with friendly, accommodating staff and the food makes it to your table in a reasonable amount of time, and you can tell that they staff have built strong relationships with people/families who have frequented the place over the years, and I think this is clearly reflected in their reviews. When you dine in, look around...the average customer age is probably 65, so I think they've done a good job gaining customer loyalty through relationship-building, because it's certainly not by offering the best Italian food in Wichita.

Food and service are excellent. Best lasagna I've had, maybe ever! Delicious steaks…read more Ambience. It is a step back in time.
