I scheduled an appointment for an outdoor project at my house that included new cement, pergola, and outdoor "kitchen". I prepared scale drawings and a specifications. A representative of SC Construction came to my house and we discussed the project. He said he would provide a bid for the project by Wednesday of the following week. It is now 3.5 weeks past that Wednesday and I have never heard back from SC Construction even though I have called 6 times to inquire. This company wasted 3.5 weeks of my time. We are in the process of demolishing our existing old & outdated pergola and replace it with a modern one that includes lights, fans, Bluetooth speakers etc. We had 2 other companies come by but none were as professional and knowledgeable as Zeb from SC Construction! Zeb was on time and took his time to survey the project. He provided multiple options that were cost effective as well as industry standards. Zeb shared his expertise to include or exclude some features. Finally, Zeb provided an estimate on site! This was so helpful as others made us wait for days and took away the option of realtime modifications. Zeb's estimate was competitive and fair. I just had my final walkthrough with SC Construction. I have had an Alumawood patio cover for 22 years, and I (unknowingly and regrettably) let past workers walk on it (painters, window washers, etc.). It wasn't made for that and I wanted to get the roof panels replaced, as the frame was in great shape. The company that installed it no longer was in the business of patio covers, so I was pleased to find SC Construction, a premier installer, right here in the Central Valley. They have great communication regarding schedule and arrival times, and although they normally just do full installations, were willing to use my frame to install higher quality panels that can be walked on. Big money saver! Every one who came out, from the estimator to the workmen to the supervisor doing the final walkthrough was professional, knowledgeable, and very personable. The installers were respectful of my property and did a good cleanup after the installation. The only downside was they were so busy this summer that it took a while for the material to arrive and get me on the schedule. We love our new insulated patio cover from SC Construction! Everyone we dealt with was great; from Daniel who provided our quote, to Scott who came out when the project started, and the install team of Henry and Xavier. I especially enjoyed Henry's vocals on the patio while they were installing; he's quite the singer! The contracted electrician, John Case, was great, too, we've even hired him for some additional work. Office staff provided timely updates as the project progressed, and I was impressed that they did a final walk through, and Felipe (project foreman) quickly corrected a minor issue I'd found, and even corrected another issue I wasn't aware of. I visited the office of SC construction in Modesto over a month ago. As a follow-up to that visit, I sent an email to SC construction asking for a follow up to obtain a construction quote. I received an initial call and we discussed my proposed construction project for a Four Seasons sun room. After sending SC construction information regarding size and design for this project, I was told I would be provided an estimate. That estimate never was provided and after several calls to their office, my calls were never returned. Seems this company is not able to provide follow up service. I have decided to go with another company for my project. read more

The spring of 2022 we used SC Construction for a total update of landscaping which included a Pergola, redwood fence, concrete sidewalk to front door, mow strips and all new plants. We decided on SC because because they provided entire service from landscape design to pergola installation. Mike Dunn, the landscape designer was the one that sold us with his vision of what our yard could become. Lupe and his team were outstanding in implementing Mike's plan. We have aluminum lattice for over 20 years, which requires very little maintenance. It was a very easy choice to choose aluminum pergola. The whole process with this company is they over promise but underdeliver. They informed us initially that it would only take a day to build. Instead it took weeks. The Roof is leaking (see pictures) and our furniture gets soaked. A technician came out to add more caulking but it's still leaking. We are told the manager is supposed to come by but NO SHOW, twice!! My wife had to call them to find out. The lack of communication is very annoying. Customer service is non existent. read more

If this review can help anyone else not have to go through what we did, then it is worth my taking the time to write it. I won't go into all of the details here, but suffice it to say, our experience with SC Construction was less than satisfying. I'm giving it 2 stars rather than 1 because the installers, Henry and Dave, did the best they could under the circumstances and we are generally happy with the result. However, we are happy with it because my husband managed the process and made sure it was done well. The contracted electrician, John Case, was awesome. Other than that, it was nothing but headache and frustration. Here are a few highlights: * Our salesperson was Daniel. He was great when we first met him and was one of the reasons we chose SC Construction. However, he went MIA once the job started and sold us something that SC Construction apparently had never done. We wanted to combine two pergola systems. Daniel showed us a photo of what we are hoping for. Great! Yes, that's what we want. Henry and Dave show up and say they have never done something like this. Uhm ok? We reach out to the owner, Scott, to ask why our system is not looking like the photo and he tells us that the photo was photoshopped. Say what?! We have heard the installers say numerous times that they now know what they would do differently if they were to do it again - not happy about being the guinea pigs and not having things done as they should have been. It would be one thing if they told us upfront that they had never done this and we decided to go with them, but we feel like we were sold a bill of goods. * Countless times we would ask Scott for an update of when the guys would come to work on our job. He would tell us to check with the office. We would call the office and Liz would say she would need to check with Scott. And around and around we would go. There was never any proactive communication as to why they weren't starting our job. Contract was signed in March. Work began in June. Much of the start delay was due to materials which we understand but it took many many calls to finally get Scott to tell us that. Communication goes a long way. * Scott told us several times that he would come out to help on our job as it was complicated. Scott NEVER came out. He said that he would be there on the first day since his installers were over 40 years old and so he would help get the work done quicker. The installers, Henry and Dave, were great. They cared about the quality of work and made sure it was done as best they could. They and the electrician were the saving grace on this project. * Apparently the workers have a deal that they only work a few days a month in the bay area (since they are out of Modesto?) so if you live in the bay, just know that the guys won't show up until about 10am and leave around 2p and will come sporadically. I can't blame them for not wanting to make the commute but then why is Scott bidding jobs out this way? * Our "3 day" job is still ongoing 5 months later. It's been 5 months since we signed the contract, 2.5 months since work began. There is no apparent desire on SC Construction's part to get our job done. It's always us reaching out to them to ask when they are coming. * After installation, we had several issues including an electrical part for the motor that didn't work (it didn't work out of the box, then they brought over a used one that didn't work, and then finally ordered a new one that did work, causing yet another few week delay), leaks (still to be fixed), and downspout issues (still to be fixed). * The manager (?) Felipe came out on what was supposed to be the final day and seemed to care about our issues. We had high hopes he would help to get our project done. Alas, it's been radio silence from him with responses only when we reach out to him. He did bring us bbq spices and tools with a thank you note. Forget the gift and just please get our job done. That will be the best gift. * One day the workers are supposed to come to "finish" the job. I get a text from Scott in the morning saying that one of the workers called in sick saying our job was stressing him out so they would not be coming out that day. He said this was the first time a worker called in sick because of a stressful job. Weird thing to tell a customer, but ok. Plus, doesn't Scott realize that if he was stressed, it's because the salesperson sold a system that was too difficult for them to build. This day of him calling in sick happened to be on a Friday of a 3 day weekend. I come to find out on the following Tuesday that the worker was heading to Yosemite that Friday morning. Somewhere along the way, someone was lying. They are supposed to come out this week to finish the job. Of course I've heard this from Scott so many times that I'll believe it when I see it. Save yourself the headache and choose another vendor. read more

Henry and Moses installed my porch and each step I was consulted to make sure my image I had in my mind became reality. They communicated with me every step of the way and friendly including the big thing they absolutely cleaned up after themselves. Jason gave me my quote he needed up coming out 2-3 times just because I wasn't ready financially. When I was he had no problem coming out to answer any questions. Would recommend ------- I had SC install a lattice patio cover on my house a couple weeks back and love it. The process started back in January when we first gave them a call for a quote. After discussing briefly in my email what we were hoping to achieve, they scheduled someone to come to our home and help us finalize the details. The sale rep was very professional, was masked, had samples of the materials and colors and arrived on-time. The purchase permitting process took a bit longer than I had expected as I had to receive county and city approval, though the office staff was communicative and friendly when I called in for updates. I had to take on some of the tracking down of points of contact and form delivery, but not a huge deal. Install was easy. It took them 3 days total (1 to dig footings and deliver material, 1 to have inspector sign-off and for the install and one for electrical to finish up). I had a couple touch up items that needed to be taken care of and Felipe H was super responsive, personable and efficient when he came by. I had a patio cover put in in February, 2018. Scott, one of the owners/managers, gave me 3 price options from which to choose. All of the options he would stand behind, but 2 of them had better warranties. I chose the middle one. I did appreciated being given these choices. It was not a hard-sell situation, which was also a big plus. There were a couple of times that the installation day was cancelled, and this set the process back a week or week and a half. When the day came that it was put up, I couldn't have been happier with the process, the professionalism, and the end-product. I only wish I had called them years ago. My new patio cover is the envy of all of our friends. SC Construction did a home visit and gave us so many options and we were able, with the sales person's guidance (Daniel), to choose a style we would enjoy for years to come. The workers (Edson, Dylan and Felipe) were knowledgeable, efficient and paid close attention to the quality of work. Felipe left his phone no. In case there were any problems. So far, our only problem is not being able to spend more time on the patio. By the way, we spent a third less than the first company that gave a quote and a half of the second company's quote. I have no idea how anyone could beat the quality of the construction and the professionalism of the staff( from office to sales to construction crew). read more

We had a patio cover installed on June 5, 2020. On June 4, 2020 the owner of SC Construction, Scott called me to make sure that I had been called with the construction appointment time. He also told me that he would personally be coming to our home on June 5th to check on the crew's progress and workmanship. (Good sign!) The construction crew arrived on June 5th on time, reviewed our order with me and got to work. (Good sign!) They completed our patio cover in one day, it looked fabulous! They were very meticulous about cleaning up the patio after the cover was completed. (Good sign!) The owner, Scott did not show up as he had told me he was going to. After they left we noticed a few minor flaws in their workmanship. We called SC Construction the following business day to tell them our concerns. We were told that someone would call us back. After no call back, we called again the next day. Their response was "the parts are ordered". Not exactly the customer service we were hoping for. I assumed that someone would come out to actually look at the concerns we had on the patio cover. Three weeks later we had not heard back from them. Again, we called and they said "the parts JUST came in". We were told that they would come out the next day on July 3 to make the repairs. They couldn't tell us what time, just on July 3rd. After we stayed home from work all day on July 3rd awaiting their arrival, No Show. No Call. Not the level of customer service we were hoping for. Again, just a few minor flaws. We just had an Equinox Louvered Roof System installed at our home by SC Construction. We are very happy with the outcome. Our installers Henry and Xavier did an excellent job and went above and beyond to make sure we were completely satisfied with their work and the finished product. (We really enjoyed working with them!) Our only disappointment in the whole process was that the pandemic caused delays due to supply issues that were out of the control of the company.The project took months longer than expected. I bought a Viking hot tub (Legend) from SC. I happened across these guys at the Fresno Home and Garden show while I was in the market for a hot tub. I was somewhat intent on getting either a Jacuzzi or Sundance, also considering a Marquis perhaps, but overall, I was disappointed that I couldn't find a dealer in Fresno who sells hot tubs manufactured with a high density thermoplastic instead of acrylic. I'm not interested in a cabinet full of insulation or a fiberglass / acrylic structure disposed to creasing and cracking with age. The shells on Viking tubs have a lifetime warranty and pleasing, shiny aesthetic, so yeah, I'm in. I can see why some people could be turned off by the *idea* of a plastic hot tub, but this is a great, industrial material for hot tubs and doesn't feel like common plastic... plus you get the lifetime warranty so no need to worry. I've gotten a number of compliments on the shell specifically. The SC Construction sales guy was professional, knew a lot about hot tubs and seemed genuinely happy with the product. They got me a good deal and installation was a snap. Good experience. read more
