Here's the difference - I had 5 quotes, none of them listened to what my wife and I wanted. Chris is the only one who listened to our ideas and enhanced them with his expertise. He was not the cheapest quote we got, but he was the most thorough. The project: complete front yard demo, build stairs surrounded by modern landscaping leading to a courtyard with custom planter boxes and lighting throughout. Chris gave us a timeline for the project and stuck with it. His crew, lead by Jorge, arrived on time everyday and cleaned up before they left for the day. It was a big, 2 week project and they finished on time. The entire crew was polite, waved at my kids everyday and worked hard. Project manager Jorge knew what needed to be done everyday and his team executed. Chris worked with our busy schedule, listened to all of our concerns and was quick to act or change directions as needed. Never once did he make us feel like we were not the most important client to him. There is always hesitance when thinking about pulling the trigger on a job that would cost a hefty 5 figures, but when the day we saw the finished product, our jaws dropped. They did such a good job in every aspect. Chris and Jorge clearly know what to do and how to do it. We have had non stop compliments from our neighbors, friends and family members. While some may think this response abrupt or uncaring, Linda is clear in what she does (design) and does not do (installation). We signed a $67,000 landscaping contract with this company in March. While we understood the initial weather-related delays, the way our project was handled afterward was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. On our scheduled project start date (May 26th) no one showed up and we received no phone call, email, or update. After taking time off work to be home for the project, we had to call the company ourselves, only to be met with confusion and surprise, as if they were unaware our project was even scheduled to begin. They then scrambled to contact employees and send someone out later that day for a "walk through." This is something that should have been completed well before the scheduled start date. We were then assured work would begin the following morning at 8:00 AM. By 10:00 AM, no one had arrived and again we had received no communication. When we called for answers, an employee told us the owner and our project advisor should have already been at our house to speak with us. That had never happened. When we calmly expressed our concerns about the repeated lack of communication, the no call/no show, and the fact that we had now missed multiple days of work for nothing, the owner, Brandon, immediately responded by asking if we wanted to cancel the project. We explained that cancellation was not our goal. We simply wanted accountability, communication, and follow-through. Brandon then stated, "I don't like the tone you have. I've been in the landscaping business since the 90s. I have 9 other projects going on and I don't like your tone, so we can just go ahead and cancel this project." At no point were we disrespectful. We were frustrated customers trying to understand why a major project had been mishandled from the start. For a company handling projects of this size and cost, we expected professionalism, communication, and BASIC reliability. Unfortunately, our experience has been the exact opposite. Would recommend ------- I had SC install a lattice patio cover on my house a couple weeks back and love it. The process started back in January when we first gave them a call for a quote. After discussing briefly in my email what we were hoping to achieve, they scheduled someone to come to our home and help us finalize the details. The sale rep was very professional, was masked, had samples of the materials and colors and arrived on-time. The purchase permitting process took a bit longer than I had expected as I had to receive county and city approval, though the office staff was communicative and friendly when I called in for updates. I had to take on some of the tracking down of points of contact and form delivery, but not a huge deal. Install was easy. It took them 3 days total (1 to dig footings and deliver material, 1 to have inspector sign-off and for the install and one for electrical to finish up). I had a couple touch up items that needed to be taken care of and Felipe H was super responsive, personable and efficient when he came by. I'd recommend SC to anyone looking for a patio cover.
