Probably not employed where I am. Yes, some of the classes were less than riveting (accounting and finance just aren't my favorites), yes, the group projects were a major pain in the butt to coordinate and carry out on top of readings, classes and extracurricular activities like having a life, and yes, Emory is not a cheap way to get your education. However, without the resume critiques, class speakers and professors with real world experience and connections, presentations where we had to look "business professional," and numerous gatherings set up to network and add impressive sounding clubs and titles to your resume, I don't think I'd be where I am today. I actually learned a lot during my two years here that I feel prepared me to go out and find a job in corporate America and make a living. As opposed to being a classics major with a minor in basket weaving, and moving back home after graduation to live in my parent's basement. And I did enjoy a good number of the classes (mostly the marketing ones), and I had my best semester of college while I was here. It was my spring semester of junior year and I managed to snag myself a coveted spot to go on exchange to the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Without a doubt, the scariest decision I ever made, and the best time I had all through college. And if I hadn't gone to the business school, such an opportunity would not have been available to me. During that 4.5 months in Asia, I developed a love for a city outside the US, traveled to places and had experiences I'll never be able to recreate and met some of the most amazing people I've had the good fortune to encounter. I swear, by the end of the semester, I was ready to quit school, learn Cantonese and try to get a job living and working in Hong Kong. It was that good. It changed me forever for the better, and I'll be grateful for that opportunity for the rest of my life. Agreed, there are many things wrong with higher education (most notably the heinous prices they put on the more prestigious and private institutions), but I have to say that the skills I learned and the polish I acquired at Emory's Goizueta Business School were, in my opinion, invaluable.

The students look forward to coming to school and are enthusiastic about learning in a visual language. Educators use specific strategies to help students with language development and learning in content areas. They have a department called the Accessible Materials Project, which translates books into ASL, while using captions and voice interpreting. They make these materials accessible to parents to help them learn ASL along with their child. This project also teaches them strategies to use with their child to help with their homework. These materials are projected on large TV screens at the school, which give students more opportunity to see materials presented in their first language.

I'd only played around with the After Effects program a few times, so taking this course helped immensely. I'm going to take the great training that I received here and pass it on to my coworkers. I took Sterling Ledet & Associates' Adobe Flash Professional class a couple weeks ago and was…read moreimpressed with the quality of this 2-day course. My employer footed the $800 bill, so I guess it's easy for me to say the class was worth the money. When I drove into the Northlake Quadrangle, the office park where Sterling Ledet is located, I felt a tad sketched out at first, as the large, spread-out development is dilapidated and devoid of many tenants. However, the classrooms were extremely clean, along with the restrooms and break area. The break area included comfortable chairs, along with a coffeemaker and hot tea, providing caffeine boosts to help us keep trucking through the lectures. Not that the lectures were boring, by any means. My instructor, Michael Snodgrass, was quite pleasant and inserted subtle humor into the class, making the 7 hours breeze by. Michael emphasized his willingness to answer any and all of our questions. Plus, since there were only seven class participants, it was easy for him to stop the lecture or an exercise to dole out individual help. I was a little wary of taking the basic Flash course, since I've been using the program for several years. In fact, I wanted to sign up for the intermediate-level course, but the staff member I spoke to was adamant on my taking the beginner's class first (of course, so there would be the possibility of my taking two classes, and paying double the money). Although I already was familiar with many of the processes the instructor presented, I would say 40% of the class included new information. I was shocked that, before the class, I would spend an hour or so doing something manually in Flash that can be done with the click of a button. So, I left the class with knowledge of how to carry out techniques much more efficiently. I got to keep a Flash book published by Lynda.com and the accompanying DVD, with exercises to apply the knowledge presented in class to actual program situations. I definitely would take another class at Sterling Ledet & Associates (if my employer agreed to sponsor me). Bonus perk: there is a Schlotzsky's right down the street from the Northlake Quadrangle. I only wish the class sign-up confirmation would have included such important information, so I would have known not to bring my lunch!

In addition, being part of several law related clubs and organizations at the University helped me connect with those who had the same interest in the law environment. Georgia State University has given me a great chance to both work and learn about my interests and be able to gain experience early on in my career.
