** WARNING: DO NOT BOOK!! ** This company is unprofessional, unresponsive and a complete scam. They will tell you they've booked AND PAID for hotels and activities and then when you arrive...the hotel will have no record of payment, the hotel will then charge YOU for your stay and this company will promise to reimburse you...but won't. Then the joy of disputing charges through your credit card company begin! They will also book activities for you and then you'll arrive...the vendor will have no record of your booking whatsoever!! ScanAm travel (more like ScamAm) added undue stress and anxiety to our trip...and here we are almost 2 months later, still dealing with this headache!! They keep saying "your refund check is in the mail". As if this isn't enough, days before our departure to Norway they fired the travel agent that was handling our account. They never told us, never reached out to us, didn't transition us to a new agent, nothing! We had to find out from the former employee herself after blowing up her phone out of desperation for answers. Completely unprofessional. Tom (the owner) was zero help through the entire process. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!! DO NOT GIVE THEM A DEPOSIT AS YOU WILL NEVER SEE YOUR MONEY BACK. I booked a trip with ScanAm middle of 2019 for travel March 2020. Due to the pandemic, we are unable to travel as is it unsafe. We have not been able to rebook and won't be able to do so for a while as it is unsafe to travel. This is not enough to get my deposit back from them. They have now held my deposit for over a year and refuse to refund us. They are requiring me to get a lawyer to fight them for $1500 that could really help me and my family during this rough time. I just returned from THE MOST REMARKABLE Lapland Tour ever! Mikael did the most amazing job getting all of our plans moving forward and ensured throughout that everything was in order. We took the Arctic Adventure Tour and added stay overs before and after the tour in Oslo and Helsinki. The hotels were top notch and there were absolutely no glitches along the way. He was very helpful in discussing the various excursion options and checked to make sure that we were getting the best value possible. Of great importance to me was the promptness of his responses...either by email or phone, he returned contacts immediately. It was absolutely luck that I found ScanAm and I have already told MANY people about this company, Mikael, and the excellent professionalism. We had a wonderful experience booking our norway fjords excursion with Scanam. Our contact was very professional and knowledgable and made recommendations on what to see and do that turned out to be great. They booked us in fabulous luxury hotels, especially in Oslo and Bergen. Found this travel company by accident and good karma! It's an excellent choice for whatever Scandinavian adventure you may be planning, whether it's off their menu or a la carte. We had them arrange the land portion of our trip, hotels and train between cities, and we got a great deal: the hotels were without exception good and the trains seamless. Mikael at ScanAm created a wonderful 16 day vacation for the 4 of us in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. We had a lot of complexity in the trip (including elderly with disabilities; and wanting to see many locations using different methods of travel: car, ferry, plane, train, bus; we needed some but not all hotels booked). He chose good hotels which were near main attractions. We were even able to walk from our hotel to pick up our rental car. Mikael gave us lots of advice and answered all of our many questions. We were sent a clear itinerary which worked without a hitch, and he included maps and bus/transportation information as well. He was very tolerant when we had him make some major changes to our trip at the last minute. We had looked at many different tour companies, and are glad we chose ScanAm. read more
