Is Scene Wine Bar closed for good?

Hi there! We are hoping to open Scene Wine Bar soon but we do not have a date yet. Mostly this is due to staffing and still building up our audience since the pandemic. We did add some of our favorite Scene menu items and wine to our theatre menu…

We got to enjoy watching the World Cup game, too, which was a special bonus. Highly recommend hosting your next special event here or grabbing a glass of wine with friends at Best Friends!! Their wine offerings consist of international wines and wines from local small wineries. They also had two craft beers and some light bites. The wine pourer was helpful and answered questions about the wines and gave samples for you to try before ordering. We also ordered marinated olives and Marcona almonds to have with our drinks. Nice place to relax and to have a glass of wine, beer or non-alcoholic offerings where you an bring man's best friend.

Kayaks, yachts, bikes, wind surfing fishing and a a slew of casual fun and funky eateries cropping up. It's been a few years since Noel warmly welcomed us "neighbors" into his establishment, prior to officially opening. Through the ups n Downs of Covid and him finding his business legs, we've happily supported this spot, meeting his entire family in the process. Well he is still sweet and humble but.... Busy! I mean as in this organic wine thing is... a big THING! I hi knew??? Apparently Noel did! He's graduated from the curious neighbors and locals featuring his Purity wines, to coop with a dedicated following of passionate organic wine makers and their entourage of fans , Friends devotees; restauranteurs, and media moguls all centered around the notion of organic wines aka a cast of thousands! Damn grapes never had it so good. Case and point Point now following his Instagram account lead by his bike riding enthusiast protege, Tyler, the Study hosted a massive event last weekend. We didn't plan to attend but were curious and anxious to see if it was a success or a bust. The event By the way featured more than 20 wine makers, there was food fun music and when we drove by as nosy neighbors, we heard the music pumping. Wow the crowd was massive! Standing room only spilling onto the drive way and garage bay. Of course the crowd was typical Bay Area, ethnically diverse hip, smart and totally having a blast! You may be wondering why we didn't go? We have a puppy who is bat shit cray cray. He loves people so much he would be all over anyone who say ah cute puppy and mayhem would be the result! Not to mention the wine spillage food tables rummaged. All this even tho Noel insists we bring Koa over so the team can meet him. Well maybe a lazy Thursday or Friday evening when things aren't quite off the chain.which frankly... seems to be an impossible goal. The study wine bar is chocked full of wine related happenings and the fan base has exploded! Hell I remember I had to help Noel create his Yelp account. For 2 years he had less than 10 folks commenting! Wow times have changed! To quote Steve Harvey, You go boy!!! The variety, creativity and passion of Noel and his fellow wine stompers, have the neighborhood buzzing... in a good way.

Our glasses were never empty, and they checked in on us throughout the meal without ever feeling intrusive. The food was absolutely amazing, the ambiance was beautiful, and the service truly stood out. If you're looking for delicious food, exceptional service, and a lovely atmosphere, La Marcha should definitely be on your list. I'll absolutely be back!

It has been a very long time since I wrote a review, but my experience at La Marcha was so bad that…read moreI had to write something. First, the host is an older gentleman, and it took a few minutes to be seated even with a reservation. My husband and I ordered cocktails, 2 tapas, and the vegetarian paella. The paella requires 30-45 min to cook. This becomes important to the story later. We received the tapas before our cocktails arrived. When the cocktails finally arrived, the server almost gave them to the table next to us. I had to flag her attention that those were for me. This was the same server who took our order...?!?! So that was weird. We were done with the tapas and the cocktails. Our server asked if we wanted something more to drink, so we decided to get a bottle of red wine. The server poured our wine, spilled a big drip across our table, wiped off the bottle, but didn't bother to wipe the table! There was a group of 4 people next to us, and they were seated about 15 min after us. But they received a paella really fast. So my husband and I were dismayed because the server probably gave our food to the wrong table. So, we drank our wine and waited for someone to come and speak to us. We expected some kind of acknowledgement that our order was going to be slow. Waited. And waited. Then the table next to us received the paella that they actually ordered (with seafood). And we kept waiting. The server apologized to THEM about bringing them the wrong paella at first, but no apology or explanation to us! At this point, I'm staring at the server, trying to get her attention, getting pretty angry. My husband is a good person, so he's making jokes and making me laugh. He points out a small dog sitting on a chair inside the restaurant. Definitely not a service animal. At this point, I'm so aggrieved and laugh that I'm going to report a health code violation. The server finally comes to us and apologizes for the mix-up, it will be 45 more min for our paella. She tries to compensate by giving us 2 glasses of cava. But like... I'm starving and tipsy. I ask my husband if I should get a corn dog at Foster's Freeze while we wait for paella... Finally, the food arrives. The paella is good but not excellent. My husband makes paella at home that's better than this. He lived in Spain for a while, so he knows and uses a bunch of saffron. La Marcha's paella just tasted like rice with tomatoes and veggies, no saffron flavor or color. We ate the paella, ordered dessert. When the tab came, they didn't give us any kind of discount. The dinner took 2.5 hours! So I am normally a good tipper, but this time, I only tipped 10% and wrote a long note about our disappointment. I figured the other $25 that I would give to the server was going to pay for the babysitter for the extra hour that it took for us to eat dinner. tl;dr Food was good but not excellent. Service was terrible. I am never going back.

I've been a patron of Vintage for years, and what's not to like? The location is gorgeous (a former pumping plant thats been transformed into a cozy, intimate space with a garden out front that changes with the seasons). And the shop is nestled right in the heart of Berkeley's Gourmet District with Peets, Saul's Deli, Cheeseboard Coop and Pizza, Andronico's, and Chez Panisse as next door neighbors. Inside you will find wines by color, grape, and region. It's not an enormous collection, but a lot of thought and experience has gone into presenting customers with something new and surprising. If I can't find myself making an easy decision, the staff have always been patient and helpful in finding the right bottle for my needs. Vintage also offers several different wine clubs for people who like a monthly or bimonthly grab bag of adult grape juice (including the occasional bubbles!). This is the wine store I wish I had as a neighborhood shop. For now, it's a well deserved destination (along with Kermit Lynch Wine Shop) that has yet to disappoint. Give it a try!
