Bolinho De Bacalhau and Empanada De Grango

Father's Day fun! Going on walks, I'd pass by this newer spot and have always been curious. My Pop expressed interest as well and we came here to celebrate. Obsessed with the wine bar vibes! We sat inside where there was bar seating and some cute tables for pairs of parties of four. The wallpaper is so freaking cool and I love the blue hues! The decor too is so fun, no minimalism here it's all things tropical. There is also a well-lit outdoor patio. Another bonus is it's an extremely dog-friendly spot (dogs allowed inside and outside), so my pup enjoyed hanging out inside with us! Service was great, the owner was great our server was helpful and our items came out fast. We were one of the only ones so it was nice to have almost the entire place! I can't seem to say I've had Brazilian food so I was looking forward to trying theirs! I had the Bolinho De Bacalhau which was a special and the Empanada De Grango. The former was great, loved the codfish and how crispy it was. The sauce complimented it well. I enjoyed my empanada too, lots of new flavors for me! My family also had their shareables and we finished almost everything. Pup enjoyed snagging some of my greens. I'm a fan of this spot! Good vibes, foods, and drinks in a low-key environment. Come during special occasions for fun events like live music! I'll be back. Also easy to find off Gilman Ave. with street and neighborhood parking around!

Pros: - vegetarian options - kind staff - cute decor - cute dog Cons: - pretty much none! Truly my only thing is that the tables are quite small, but that's a nitpick and it's a cozy space so I get why it's helpful for them to be small!

A great little wine bar with some quaint back patio vibes. On a Saturday early evening, a few other people were there. Live jazz started at 7, however we didn't stay. My friend and I nestled in a booth and ordered from a fairly limited wine by glass menu. They also have bottles for retail sale, but I'm unsure if you can buy and open onsite. Wines available were fine - I'd love to see more locally produced options. Food wise: they have a limited menu including charcuterie and Brazilian empanadas and cheese bread. We ordered a $7 empanada. While it was tasty, I wouldn't say it was worth that price tag, as it was rather small. Potentially an option for 2 for $10 down the line? Overall, a really cute and neighborhood-y gem for some wine and to enjoy the charming space or the back patio on those warmer days/evenings.

Solid wine bar with beautiful decor, intimate vibes, and friendly staff. We got a wine flight and the cheese board. Was pleasantly surprised with both. A plus that they allow patrons to bring their pets. It was nice to have our doggy with us on a rainy Berkeley night. Will definitely come again when we're visiting family in the Bay. I want to try their outdoor area!

Small and intimate. Very nice with cozy outdoor area too.

Great place to have Father's Day at. Clean, tasty, affordable, fast. Always a great place to have good food with family over lively conversation.

I may have found a new favorite in North Berkeley! Adega Azul is a small, whimsical spot with beautiful, eclectic decor... perfect for a small, intimate hangout. I love the calm ambiance and can see that a lot of thought and care has gone into making the space cozy. Of course, I can't neglect the wine selection! They have a robust selection of old and new world wines, and the owner is super excited to talk you through different options. It's a no fuss, no frills, no mansplaining (ugh) approach to wine and food that I love. A flight of four wines, with really generous pours is $28. Definitely won't break the bank and an ample amount for two people to share. Big plus that it's a woman-owned/run business! I'll definitely be back and excited to participate in some of their community events/wine club membership.

Came here in August. We were originally going to go to Headlands but wanted empanadas so came here instead. Great place. Kind and friendly staff. Beautiful inside and outside patio. We enjoyed a bottle of sparkling wine with our snacks, Portuguese cheese bread and empanada. We didn't realize they were closing - closed and they kindly let us finish our bottle. We'll be back!

Had a great experience here this evening! Cute space both indoor and outdoor. We liked the 2 wines and snacks we tried, and staff were very friendly and helpful!

A lovely place to sit, relax, read a book and just be. This was my second visit. I sat inside and enjoyed a delightful charcuterie board and fantastic Sancerre wine. It was the perfect ending to a day. Previously, I sat outside in the backyard seating area. There's also an attached Airstream like trailer that serves ice cream. The owner is friendly and extremely welcoming.

Is the tri-tip sandwich available all the time now? I seem to recall that Pedro's tri-tip was only served one night a week (Fridays I think), but I walked by yesterday and saw it on the menu. I don't see it on the website though.

I've been a patron of Vintage for years, and what's not to like? The location is gorgeous (a former pumping plant thats been transformed into a cozy, intimate space with a garden out front that changes with the seasons). And the shop is nestled right in the heart of Berkeley's Gourmet District with Peets, Saul's Deli, Cheeseboard Coop and Pizza, Andronico's, and Chez Panisse as next door neighbors. Inside you will find wines by color, grape, and region. It's not an enormous collection, but a lot of thought and experience has gone into presenting customers with something new and surprising. If I can't find myself making an easy decision, the staff have always been patient and helpful in finding the right bottle for my needs. Vintage also offers several different wine clubs for people who like a monthly or bimonthly grab bag of adult grape juice (including the occasional bubbles!). This is the wine store I wish I had as a neighborhood shop. For now, it's a well deserved destination (along with Kermit Lynch Wine Shop) that has yet to disappoint. Give it a try!

The ambiance will get you first, the attention to detail say's a lot about the love put into La Loulou. The service is fabulous, they will remember your last drink. I visited La Loulou several months ago and wanted to give it some time before writing a review…read more After recently having a wonderful experience at another wine bar, I realized the difference in hospitality was too significant not to mention. I really wanted to like this place. I'd walked by several times and loved the interior design, and the videos on Instagram made it seem like such a great spot. I stopped in one evening by myself, ordered a glass of wine and the warm olives (which were delicious), and was looking forward to a relaxing night. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest disappointment. The restaurant was packed, and the atmosphere felt more concerned with maintaining an image than making guests feel welcome. I understand some restaurants embrace a more reserved European style of service, but this came across as cold and pretentious rather than intentional hospitality. As a solo diner especially, I didn't feel acknowledged or valued as a guest. It also didn't help that the dining room had a noticeable body odor smell that took away from the experience. On a positive note, the bathroom was clean and beautifully designed. I originally thought this would become my go-to place to grab a glass of wine while waiting for a table at the ramen spot next door, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Reading through other reviews, it seems I'm not the only one who had this impression. Oakland's charm has always been its people. You can open a French-inspired wine bar, but hospitality translates into every language. If you're going to bring a Parisian aesthetic to Oakland, don't mistake indifference for sophistication. Guests should leave feeling welcomed, not judged.
