When I arrived today, I met with a man named Oscar. I told him I was there to file taxes for my mother and for her trust. For some reason, Oscar asked me when my mother died -- she's still alive. Then he told me he couldn't do a trust return. When I asked why they'd booked an appointment for a trust return if they don't handle trust returns, Oscar blamed his assistant. This is despite the fact that "trust income tax preparation" is listed as a specialty on this very Yelp page. So now I have to start from scratch -- find a new tax professional and book another appointment, probably a month out. This is incredibly inconvenient, and it was easily avoidable. The worst part is that it's going to cost me real money. The delay between when the trust taxes should have been filed and when they actually will be filed is going to increase late payment fees and penalties. Will Robert Abbott Tax Services cover that cost? I left 1 star because 0 stars wasn't an option.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Steve has done my taxes since 2009 and I started having him do my parents as well a couple years back. I used to work with Steve (taxes are his side gig) and he was much more responsive, but now that I am just your every day customer it seems as though I am not worthy of a response. Last year, Steve stopped providing physical copies of our tax records on the spot (which previously was a very nice touch). Instead, he provided a thumb drive. We told him then and there that we had a Mac and it wouldn't work. He said we just needed to format it and should there be any issues, we could contact him. When it came time to apply for my student loans it didn't work, so I contacted him asking for a copy. That was last May, and he still hasn't responded and I don't have a copy of my return. Similarly, my mother got an estate tax document and needed her taxes amended. He wouldn't respond to anything. Finally, I contacted an old coworker who asked him to contact my mom. He called me instead, from his work, and left a message. I called and texted him asking him to call my mom, not me. After about a month, he got in contact with my mom. He took her original estate tax document and told her he filed an amended return before the July extension. However, he has continued to withhold her original documents and has never provided her a copy of the amended return he states he filed. I have been calling, texting, and emailing Steve since May of 2020 asking for a print out of my taxes and the return of my mother's documents as well as a copy of her amended return. He hasn't responded or provided anything as requested. Needless to say, we will not be continuing our business with Emperor Tax Service. We just want our documents so that we can have someone else do them for us this year. Also, if you still choose to do business with Steve but find yourself where I am--I've done the homework and you can file form 14157 with the IRS to make a Return Preparer Complaint.

The lady at the front was polite enough, i had an appointment but was told to come back later because they were so busy, no worries. I came back an hour after my scheduled appointment and was told they were *almost* ready for me...okay. When it was finally my time to go with the gentleman who prepared my taxes, Kenneth. I sat silent for about 15 minutes while he typed wordlessly. He asked me maybe 3 questions about my tax situation? Now mind you, I have ALOT of deductions and was joint filing for my wife and I (which is why I was there in the first place) but he didn't really seem to need to know about any of that. I provided all the basic info they required, and he basically just typed it on the screen and showed me what I owed, exactly like I could've done on TurboTax and not wasted $450 on this place (the breakdown he showed me ended up being incorrect according to the IRS but I'll get to that later). I was expecting a Tax Expert to try to understand my tax year and help me get the most, that was NOT what I got. I feel like i wasted my money by going here AND got worse Tax advice and paid more to the IRS because I went to HRblock. I was not planning on writing this review until I got a letter from the IRS in the mail saying I OWE MORE MONEY! He didn't even give me a correct evaluation of how much we owed...The vibe of this place was also distressing like they were taking advantage of people who have little money and no idea how taxation works and will trust the "advice" that is given to them. AVOID this place at all costs.
