What a horrible excuse for a business in this upscale Hewlett-Woodmere community. The lady who own's this overpriced, poorly staffed,Hardly trained venue should be closed. I guess it starts with one of their racist part time manager " Lindsey Gray" who feels emboldened to have no business ethics, poor customer service and a markedly clear Black Matters attitude which is awful for a retailer. Workers with absentee management should use good judgment always and "THINK" before acting out their frustrations. Police should never be called to remove a customer when there is a clear hidden agenda other than serving your customers for the community and owner in that order. This no nothing think nothing sub manager took 15 minutes to open this store and got frustrated and opened the doors door for 7-10 patently waiting customers. When told he should turn on the lights prior to opening his doors as he was engaging in a fall and trip atmosphere Gray snapped... wouldn't process a return, wouldn't answer a merchandise question and asked me to leave. When I refused this thoughtless nut called the police. Only the day prior I was talking to a part timer about buying TWO Webber top models for $1200.00 each Have already bought two already for my home and one of my children. Called ACE headquarters explain my frustration with this location. Filed a complaint with STEVEN FINCH. Was supposed to get back to me at an appointed time. Called three times the day in question. CRICKETS!!! So what I see is a top to bottom flaw in their business model. Better off going to True Value or any of the big box hardware stores. Buyers beware as if you are not the right color or religion this store is on a take your money and run! Not at all happy with this less than attentive store, staff, ownership and corporate environment. It would have been appropriate for the store to apologize for the unnecessary actions that took place. You did not ask me to go back to Hewlett having corrected the issues I faced. I waited patiently and then went into PC Richards and dropped $2500 on two Weber grills. Just saying who lost here??? read more

When in there for a quick minute, and it was a nice place. Always have the simple stuff that I need, and the manager there was very nice. While I was waiting on something, I could tell the other staff there was very friendly and have such a positive attitude. read more

Brand new store which took the place of Blockbuster in the Peninsula Shopping Center. Good selection and always well staffed. It's much smaller and more limited than Home Depot, but so far it is great when you need to pick up small around the house chore items. read more

I stop at this Ace regularly for birdseed, suet, small tools, garden supplies , lighting, keys and items for odd jobs. Staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable on most issues I've needed help with. Good store and good crew. read more

I stopped by to ask about some charcoal grills. The two guys working there definitely were not knowledgeable about the grills that Ace carries and disseminated some incorrect information. They only were familiar with the two or three grills on display. Wasted my time stopping by. read more

Went to this location today at around 7:15 PM to ask for specific tools that I needed. The lady at the register was fine but the other lady standing next to her who I believe was either the manager/supervisor was rude. If you're running a business and a customer is coming in, greeting you then asking you a question there's no reason to give an eye roll or to be disrespectful. The individual towards the back of the store who was an older gentleman assisted and was super helpful in finding what I needed. The older gentleman is the reason I gave this review three stars otherwise I would give them one star just based on my first impressions as I entered the store. read more

By the time I realized everyone was buying face masks for the corona virus they were sold out everywhere. They told me if they get them back in stock they'll give me a call first so I can get them (my grandparents are very old so I wanted to at least get some for them.) I never expected to hear back but not only did they call later that week but they left a voicemail to make sure I know. So kind of them! Thank you! read more

If you are in the store, they are helpful and nice. However, I bought a gas grill and they never even contacted me to tell me when they were going to deliver it. A week later I called to ask what happened and all of a sudden they are coming today. The man then insists he told me that. WTH? Not good business, in my opinion. read more

I am a Physician working on the front line during this Pandemic. I understand how many small businesses are being hurt and go out of my way to help the little guys whenever possible. Today I needed a few items. Instead of heading to Lowes or Home Depot I went to Ace hardware in Hewlett to help support the local merchants. One of the items I bought was a garden hose. On my way home I realized that the hose was only 50 feet when I needed a 75 foot hose. I turned around and headed back to exchange it for the longer item. The cashier was as nice as possible but informed me that the manger(rudest man in retail I ever met) doesn't allow returns during the Covid outbreak.I tried to speak to Stu, but he kept running away from me. There were no signs posted behind the counter or on the front of the counter stating this policy ,nor was there anything on the receipt ( I took pictures as proof). I also mentioned to Stu that his cashier wasn't wearing a mask which was in violation of the Nassau County Public Health Law. Stu made no effort to rectify the situation. It's ashame that the rest of the help has to work for a man like this. I can't believe the owner of this business allows him to run this store. I've heard it in the past and now have experienced it first hand. I advise people to go to Millers Hardware in Lynbrook where your patronage will be appreciated. Keep away from Hewlett., This store is a blemish in our neighborhood. read more

Nice selection of merchandise; poor customer service. I had an Ace lantern flashlight which died. I bought a new battery - still dead. I brought it in and watched the two guys fiddle with it for 15 min, calling each other "bro" the whole time. (Not relevant, but annoying.) In fairness, they tried to help, but the manager determined that 1) the battery was good, and 2) the bulb was good. It just wasn't working. He insisted I must have used it a long time and burnt out the battery. BUT IT WAS A BRAND NEW BATTERY AND STILL NOT WORKING. We had that conversation twice. I finally asked for a replacement. They only had Rayovac lanterns, and at first said I could pay the difference. Ok, fair. Then they realized they didn't have a price for my Ace lantern, and wouldn't do anything for me. He said they were independently owned. I said, but, it's an Ace product. Then he said I could go to any Ace and they would help me! But apparently, as he confirmed, not THEIR Ace.
