Review of Appliance World, Oyster Bay: My recent experience with Appliance World in Oyster Bay can only be described as a complete disaster. Ten years ago, our interaction with Larry was smooth and pleasant--we spent $31,000 on high-end appliances without issue. Fast forward to two months ago when my daughter, excited about her new home, purchased $32,000 worth of appliances from them. I assumed she would receive the same level of service we had before. Unfortunately, that was far from the case. Delivery Fiasco: When the appliances arrived, instead of placing them properly, they were carelessly dumped in the middle of a construction site covered in debris and dust. This not only showed disregard for the products but also for the environment they were placed in. Installation Nightmare: Despite the electric and gas piping being ready, the installation was a nightmare. They moved dishwashers into the way of cabinet installers, left the microwave in its box across the room, and haphazardly jammed a $14,000 stove between cabinets without securing it properly. Buttons and racks lay strewn atop it, further showcasing their negligence. Condition of Appliances: The refrigerator arrived with tape and cardboard still on the face, and we couldn't even locate the range--it's somewhere in a box amidst the chaos they left behind. Customer Service Insensitivity: When we called to express our frustration, their response was dismissive and appalling. They had the audacity to claim that my daughter hadn't requested installation, and then offered to do it at an additional cost. This response was not only insensitive but also showed a complete lack of accountability for their own mistakes. Disrespect towards a New Woman-Owned Business: It's particularly disheartening that Appliance World, under new ownership by a woman, showed such blatant disregard for customer satisfaction and basic business ethics. Instead of supporting her business, they took advantage of her inexperience and ran over her just like they do to everyone else. In conclusion, Appliance World in Oyster Bay has not only lost a loyal customer but has also shown a shocking decline in service and integrity over the past decade. Their treatment of my daughter's purchase and the subsequent aftermath of their incompetence is inexcusable. I strongly advise anyone considering purchasing from them to look elsewhere for appliances and avoid the headache and disappointment that comes with dealing with Appliance World. AJ was very patient, well versed and diligent in his application of appliance knowledge to address our specific and conceptual requirements. Would not recommend buying appliances from here. Bought ALL new appliances from them and two were installed broken. Took many service trips and cancelled service trips to get it resolved. Would try to call them for help but was told it's not their issue - but the service companies. A little surprising when items I purchased from them came broken. Was actually screamed at by one of their managers that it is not their responsibility and to stop calling them. Would never do business with them again. Everyone knows that sales people have the potential to be shady/dishonest. This is NOT the case at appliance world. These guys are helpful, responsive, and flexible. Got the sense that they actually want to help you out. One of the guys actually even offered to deliver my appliance in his own personal SUV! Not recommended! They will treat you as royalty before you buy, as a stranger when you need repairs, and wage war with you as the enemy when you ask for your rights. I really wanted to leave a 1-star rating because of a recent horrible experience, but the store is not that bad in the big picture. Fair is fair. You will have a great shopping experience. The prices are fair, so shop around and I'm sue they will try to match a local competitor's price. The Internet was much cheaper, though. The relationship with this store was excellent until we needed the store's cooperation with our request to exchange a troublesome but expensive fridge. The fridge manufacturer was a pleasure to deal with and very accommodating, but for some reason the store owner (Larry), and his salesman, gave us a very hard time with the store credit process when we decided on a fridge from a different manufacturer, which was also not in their inventory. Larry was very inflexible and eventually acted against our interests with the manufacturer. Him and his employee Ryan were not on the same page, which created misunderstandings and disappointment. They finally told my wife that she was "the worst customer" and that they would not like to deal with us any more. Mind you, we bought $6,000 worth of appliances from them, and the entire loan had been paid off by the time 12 months passed by and we decided to replace the problematic fridge. So our account was always in good standing. The Huntington store did not help with the situation, either. We ended up having to settle on less favorable terms with the manufacturer, which was entirely unnecessary and avoidable had Appliance World done the right thing. I still don't know why they acted this way. Will not buy from them again. read more

Outstanding Service! My husband and I had a great experience and would definitely recommend Appliance World. Neil is just exceptional! He guided us throughout the entire process. With all the stress of building a new home, thank god for Neil, it was a blessing to work with someone as professional, knowledgeable and most of all great personality. We purchased all the appliances for our newly renovated kitchen at Appliance World. We did our research, and then called them with the makes and model numbers, and the prices they gave us were the lowest we had been quoted, so we immediately made the purchase. Delivery was on time, just as promised. When unboxed, the delivery men noted that the stove was damaged, and took it back; the replacement was sent within two days. When we changed our mind about the range hood, they took it back, and waived the restocking fee. After 8 months, the LG refrigerator's compressor died. Needless to say, this was extremely upsetting. I must say that the staff at Appliance World addressed the issue immediately. A serviceman was sent the day after I called, diagnosed the problem, and ordered the new compressor. It took a few days before it could be installed, but Appliance World offered us compensation for the food we lost. Their attentiveness (especially Robin, with whom we spoke often) made us feel assured that any future problems would also be quickly addressed. Very pleased we chose this company. read more

Oyster Bay Appliance World is a family owned business with 2 locations staffed with knowledgeable, professional, caring sales personnel who go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. There are many reasons that makes this store unique, providing a comfortable, happy shopping experience. Unlike most places, upon entering this store a customer is not bombarded with several sales people whose main goal is to make a sale. If a customer receives a quote, that price will remain in effect until the customer is prepared to make the purchase. Other stores require a down payment to hold the quote for a few days; or their prices change daily. I have had the pleasure to meet several sales people, all with the same friendly disposition and determination for customer satisfaction. They take the time to know a little about their customers in order to best serve their needs and ensure each customer will truly love their new appliance. A customer might have a particular brand or model in mind, but after the sales person becomes familiar with the customers needs, space available, etc , they match the appliance that will best serve their purpose. I purchased a $10,000 range from them and two Thanksgiving dinners Could not be COOKED IN MY HOME AND HAD TO BE MOVED THE NIGHT BEFORE BECAUSE I HAD NO OVEN. IT MALFUNCTIONED TWO YEARS IN A ROW. APPLIANCE WORLD THINKS BECAUSE THEY CALL A REPAIR COMPANY FOR YOU THEY ARE GREAT. I purchased 4 appliances totaling $15,000.. In 5 years I have fully replaced 2, repaired one 4 times, and the last is working, but rewired with a different switch. They are terrible. Stay away. read more

I recently bought over 6 thousand dollars worth of appliances thru the store and when my stove had not arrived after 2 weeks of delivery of the others I wanted an explanation. Instead of explaining themselves they were less than courteous and actually cancelled my order as if they were punishing me. The joke was on them. I am very disappointed in the customer service and the product knowledge at Appliance world in oyster bay. My husband and I bought all of our high end appliances for our new home from Larry. He was a pleasure to deal with and showed us a wine refrigerator that also has a humidor attachment that we can purchase at a later time, my husband was sold and loved the idea so we bought that particular wine refrigerator with excitment! Well, I called about 3 months later to purchase the humidor attachment as a surprise Christmas gift for my husband only to find out he sold us the wrong model and there was NOTHING he could do for us since we already had it installed. He kept mentioning that he wish he could make the sale but unfortunately he could not. To us, it was not just a sale, it was an investment and something that we looked forward to purchasing. The fact that he said nothing could be done is ridiculous because he sold us the wrong model. I would never do business with them again on the sheer fact that their customer service was terrible, they offered us nothing but a "sorry." I guess once the sale is made, even of its the wrong one and it's their fault they will do nothing to correct the matter and keep the Customer happy and coming back. It is a shame because we would have recommended many a friend an client to them if they did right by us. Buyer beware unless you know exactly what you are getting before you go in there.
