BEWARE!!!! Richard was the tow truck driver. He scrapped up the entire underside of my 2 year old vehicle (bought it brand new with 6 miles on it). Then argued with me that my vehicle was not running after he loaded it onto the rollback (flatbed) tow truck. I insisted that it was in fact still running (engine on) and pointed out that the headlights were on to prove my point. He then argued with me saying that they would automatically go off after a bit. After over a mile, I said you need to pull over because my truck is still running and that is not safe, I again pointed out the headlights being on. I finally got him to come to a stop and physically check, after telling him a I was calling dispatch. Low and behold, my truck really was still running. He then told me that they don't accept insurance after I had already spoken to dispatch and she said they did, in fact, accept my insurance. After arguing with me in front of everyone at the tire shop, one of the tire guys stepped in. He said call your dispatcher and see if they take her insurance. By that time I had my insurance agent on speaker phone and they confirmed that Schaffer's Towing does accept my insurance, especially since I pay extra every month for towing coverage. Richard then said that I needed to pay for it and submit the claim with my insurance company. I told him that was not what I was told when I called for a tow. I then called my insurance company back and they told Richard that the towing company submits for payment, the customer pays nothing. Richard finally left. All of this because I didn't have a spare and wound up with a flat that would not hold air. I would never recommend this company for two BIG reasons: the damage to my vehicle and the verbal abuse from that driver! This is most unprofessional And then I found out from my insurance company that the towing company overcharged, claiming services used that were not. This company should not be allowed to continue treating people and vehicles this way! read more

I coordinated with them to pick up my truck on a Sunday. That also direct billed my insurance, which meant they handled all of the work towing my truck to the shop. HUGE convenience for me. Very disappointed waited two days for a tow and all they had was excuses why they couldn't get it. They told me they had two many tows. That might of been ok the first day but after they said that was the issue the second day not sure why I moved to the bottom of the list the second day. Very disappointed. This is my wife's experience with this company while I was out of town. I'm not one to publicly complain about a business, but after my scary experience tonight I need to warn locals about how I was treated by Schaffer's Towing. Had a frightening experience tonight with this company. Requested a jump or tow for my car that broke down in the Costco parking lot. Explained to dispatch that I needed at least a 10 minute warning call, as I had to return to the lot the meet the driver. I was able to start the car, when the tow driver pulled up. No warning phone call. When I tried to explain to him that I was supposed to get a call, he said that wasn't something that they do. I continued to try an explain, but instead he got angry and said if I wasn't going to pay, he was going to impound my car! I then tried to tell the driver that wasn't what I was trying to say. But he refused to listen to me and told me I had to pay $50 or he would tow my car away. He had me blocked in, and it was very dark and isolated. I tried to explain that my purse was in my other car across the parking lot, and I had to go get it. He was sitting up 4 feet above me in the cab of his truck and spit down right next to me! I ran to get my credit card. He partially filled out the receipt and billed me for a "jump", which never happened, as he never touched my car. He took my card, processed it from his cab and then threw the receipt at me. As he walked away, I realized he still had my credit card. I had to plead for it three times before he tossed it at me. This was a terribly frightening experience in a dark parking lot, with a man who was threatening and taking advantage of the situation. I paid $50 for a "jump" that I didn't receive. What I did receive was verbal abuse, spit upon, and blackmail to pay or else. What kind of company treats its customer's like this? I called to complain, but was told that they would look into it. read more

Fast and friendly service! We have had 2 cars towed by Schaffer and each time they have worked with us to get our cars towed in a timely manner and reasonably priced. On our way to Lolo Montana, from Milton Washington our car broke down on I 90, just before 4th of july pass, About a mile from the exit. our heater hose valve had broken. A woman picked us up and drove us six miles to find cell service. My husband and I and two large dogs, After trying aarp for a couple of hours, This wonderful woman used her trjiple A and they arranged for a tow. AARP's towing said it would be 3 hours befor they could get a truck on the road. With Schaffer's towing they said 30 minutes. She took us back to our car on I 90 and the tow truck was minutes behind us. It only took a few minutes to hook us up, and MATT even offered to let our dogs ride in the cab. ( it was about 85 degrees). He was very friendly, seemed like he really cared, about us, our dogs and the car. He took us to Cour de laine, to Les Shwabs. They were closed so he parked us in a parking space. We chatted for a few minutes, MATT asking if there was anything else he could do for us. Then MATT went on his way. My car broke down just off of I-90 on the Mullan Rd exit East of CD'A yesterday. Not sure what to do, I called my insurance company. Schaffer Towing was the top of their list for this area. I called them & they arrived promptly. The driver, Bill fairly new with the company greeted me with the upmost professional manner introducing himself & putting me at ease that he had the situation under control. Bill escorted me to his huge BadAss truck then loaded my car & away we went to my house to drop the car off. Bill was confident, courteous & professional. The company also honored my insurance claim to pay. No hassle to pay up front. We live on a mountain road and have cars miss the curve above our house quite often and land in our yard. Yesterday was the most recent occurrence, except we were not at our house to protect it from damage of Shaffer's Towing. Our neighbors alerted us that a car was in our yard so we tuned into our cameras to see what was happening. The first thing we saw was the wrecker sitting on top of our septic. We called the dispatch and told them they were on our septic and they did not have permission to be on our property. Dispatch said they would call the truck immediately so we hung up. As we watched, the truck pulled ahead off the septic but they continued to pull the car across our lawn - and across our septic. We called them back and told them they MUST STOP IMMEDIATELY and to get off our property and septic. Again dispatch said they would call the truck, but they did not stop. All we could do is helplessly snap pictures from our camera to prove they damaged our septic and trespassed on our property. This morning we again talked to the person in charge and after a few F-bombs, hung up. The person in charge called back and we were finally able to explain that we have fiberglass tanks directly underground between the exposed part of the septic and the house, and that is where the wrecker parked and they pulled the car. If they would have gotten our permission to be on our property, we could have voiced our preference for the cars removal. As it happened, they were adamant they were not on our septic because they were clear of the above ground components. Now who will pay to fix our septic? Our insurance person is of the opinion the wrecker is responsible. read more

Yesterday, July 1, 2017, interstate 90 was a parking lot. I was in my old truck, stuck in the traffic, and the engine overheated, and I blew a gasket on my transmission......dead in the water. I called Schaffer's Towing. I knew they would have a difficult time getting to me because of the traffic. It only took them 30 min and he was there. They said " no problem" we'll get to you. The driver "Scott" was gracious, pleasant, and professional. He got me off the side of the freeway and out of a big mess. He even had a cold bottle of water for me. At no time did I feel I was inconveniencing him, he did a great job. I would definitely use Schaffer's again. The cost was very reasonable. read more

Wrecked my car and the police called Schaffers to tow it. when i picked it up the next morning they had stole all the speakers out of it and the cd player. When i brought it to there attention before leaving the owner told me " can you prove it had speakers and a cd player in it when it came in?" of course it did! everything was there when it got towed in. ultimately nothing came of it he basically told to me kick rocks.
