I can't actually speak to the quality of service, as we never got that far, but will share my experience. We moved up to Carmel this past spring - the previous owner of our house had tried for weeks to set up a cleaning, but couldn't get anyone to respond, so they purchased a gift certificate from Schech's for the cost of opening the pool and gave it to us when we closed on the house. My husband called several times and tried to get someone from Schech's service to commit to an appointment. After receiving no reply, he made a trip to the store in person. The salespeople said they would communicate with service, but we never received a reply. I finally sent an email to the website to see if anyone would reply, and received a response from Barbara Schech-Freer. I replied that we had a gift certificate and were extremely flexible on which date the opening would take place, only asking that they put us on the schedule as soon as possible. A week went by with no response, so I emailed a final time to ask for the cash value of the gift certificate, since we were forced to go elsewhere to have the pool opened. No reply to my second email was ever received. I understand that it's a very busy time of year for the business, but it shouldn't be this challenging to receive a simple reply. If they had told us they weren't able to take us on as a client, I would have understood and not written this review. To completely ignore us this way speaks volumes about the importance they place on customer service, and so I suppose it's just as well we signed a contract with Strongman Pool Service instead. Strongman's team is prompt, thorough, reliable, and reasonable. They send us an email with a photo of our pool after every service call, along with detailed notes about what was done and results for each water test. If you own a pool in Carmel, you have options other than Schech's. Based on my experience, I highly recommend you explore those other options. read more

Awful service, don't do at they say per contract. Try to over charge for items they were responsible for, then their customer service tries to make you feel like you are in the wrong for even calling. Finally when they invested they found out they were in the wrong for not pro I ding services as per contract, all they did was refund some of the money and said we are good? No apology. Nice people who work in the chemical department testing water. The service department is a nightmare and basically destroyed many parts of my pool and didn't take any responsibility for it. I ordered a $5,000.00 pool cover in July of 2021. I called in October and the person I dealt with had quit and they lost my order. The cover was not installed until after Christmas. I had also hired them to close down the pool where they broke several jets in my spa and didn't say anything. They did not blow out the lines properly as well. When I opened the pool cover in April the water level was way down and there was about 6" of leaves in the bottom because they didn't put the pool cover on until December. First they said they would charge me $148.00 an hour to clean out the leaves! I complained to the owner and they sent someone out a few times to get some of the leaves out. They said it was not their problem to clean the pool. I vacuumed for about 6 hours to get the leaves out. They sent someone over to look at the leak and said it was in the return line and was not there problem and wanted me to pay the diver for the examination!!. I called in another company to find the leak and they found that when they installed the pool cover that Schechs put the anchor pipes right through the return line in 2 places. It cost me several thousand dollars to repair this leak and my pool terrace. They refused to fix the spa jets as well. The service guys are inexperienced and clueless. The company I hired to fix their mess couldn't believe what they saw. I would not hire them to fill my baby pool. read more

The absolute worst customer service I have ever received in my life. We called to have our pool opened and cleaned swim ready. After speaking with owner who just happen to pick up the phone when I called, we made the appointment. Carter came to take off the cover and get the filter set up. First, they went to the wrong house and opened my neighbor's pool. I should have known then that this was going to be a nightmare. After a few days I didn't see anyone else come to vacuum and clean the bottom, so I called again. The first women I spoke with told me I was only down for an opening. I explained the situation and she looked it up and said that strange because the last person I spoke with was the owner. If that was my business, I would be concerned that my staff is even telling customers that, how embarrassing. Then we made the appointment AGAIN, to have them come out and clean. Alex who came out was great. They brought their own equipment and the pool looked great. The chemicals needed some time to clear up the water but overall looked good. After a few days we asked for another vacuum as there was still some dirt on the bottom, which is normal after you open a pool. Well, this is where is really gets good. Deena, who came out scooped a handful of leaves out of the bottom and dumped some chemicals into the pool. She was here for a total of 20 minutes. I was charged an additional $139 for a vacuum. She didn't even use the vacuum. In addition, she broke my garden lights, left chemical residue on my driveway that did not completely wash off and I watched her pull up and out of my drive going very fast. I received the bill in the mail days later and saw I was charged for the two vacuums. I think it strange that as a company completing services at people homes that they don't come to the door and asked for a receipt or something to be signed. So, I called to asked why I was being charged so much for someone to scoop a handful of leaves. I don't know her name, but she was very rude. In a condescending rude tone, she asked me how I know it was a handful of leaves and I said I was home and watched what she did as I was home. She then told me that she probably charged me for a vacuum because if it was just some leaves then it would have been a service call which is even more money. The fact that this was the logic was what really bothered me the most. I have no problem paying for the services I received and the chemical. But its not right to charge someone for services not completed in addition to breaking someone's personal property. I typically don't write review; I just wont use them again but I think people should be aware so this doesn't happen to them. I have been dealing with Schech's for over 20 years. When I walk in the store everyone is alway friendly. They open and close my pool. As well as maintenance. They are knowledgeable when it comes to the chemistry of the pool. My pool is always crystal clear! I would highly recommend them. read more

I see I'm not the first to bring this up but these people are a bunch of money grabbing scammers. The service techs showed up unannounced and started taking my pump apart without so much as knocking on the door. They tried to charge me well over a 200 dollar mark up on a pump motor. I ended up buying the entire pump set up myself for less than half of what they wanted to rip me off for. Then they thought that they were going to charge me another arm and a leg to install it. It was their plan to charge me well over $1,000 to replace a pump motor. The entire system costs around that. My Name is Jesus Bonilla , I recently moved to Carmel-Hamlet from the city and was new when it came to anything about pools . I used this pool company because the previous owner who lived in the home that I purchased was a customer and in there system. They took complete advantage with my lack of knowledge. They charged me for 3 hours of cleaning that I ended up doing most of the work myself ... guys came on days when I wasn't home after clearly STATING THAT I DID NOT WANT ANY WORK DONE WHILE I WAS NOT PRESENT .they claim to track there staffers location by GPS, wich does not mean they did any work at all. The sales staff was extremely inconsiderate, considering I was learning as about pools and couldn't figure out why I wasn't making any progress with the clarification of the pool water. They continued to sell me products with no hesitations. Staff also lied to me twice in my face once claiming they did a water test and when i arrived for the results the sample wasn't there because the test was never done.. when asked if they were the company that closed the pool they said no only to have another sales rep confirm that they did close the pool and failed to secure it properly because it fell in . I was able to consult with family and friends who own pools and found another pool service that quickly advised me on how to resolve my pool issues. I will be taking my hard earned money elsewhere... I have to agree with previous post this pool company is the Worst!! Our pool was turning green they made us ger over $150 DOLLARS in pool chemicals, that did nothing!!! When we went back they sold us another $50 in chemicals again nothing!!!! Went to leslies pools on danbury ct, problem solved in 24 hours for $26.00 This pool companys sucks DONT GO THERE!!!!! Very nice people ,nice store ,helped me get a warranty replacement part that they didn't need to .very friendly knowledgeable staff even the younger crew . I open , close and maintain my own pool and they always seem to have what I need .they carry a good line of products that work well . Only negative is they are a bit pricey compared to internet but as a small business owner I understand they have overhead to deal with .I would recommend going there if you like to keep your pool looking clear. they will advise you well and are a good source of information read more

Do not go to this pool place! They are horrible! Very very expensive. After they test your water they sell you chemicals you don't need. Barbara and Tracy who are supposedly the owners are not good business women. They should be ashamed of themselves with overpriced items, ( the same items you could get in walmart). we as customers should not have to pay for their vacations! Let's be real, ik things are expensive today, but for real, their prices are marked way up!! The best is There's always a sale when you go in there... 60% off of $50 floats and goggles!! They are consistently professional & knowledgeable, always patiently explaining maintenance or trouble shooting steps to keep my pool looking beautiful! They are a family run company which means they operate with a level of integrity that simply cannot be matched. If you're looking for cheap chemicals that ultimately harm your system or a newer, larger store that won't stand behind their products... this isn't the place for you. Schech's is a pool company that cares about its customers. They take their responsibility of servicing pools & providing customers with excellent customer support very seriously.
