Recommended to me by a colleague at work, I found Dr. Scherl, her associates, and her staff to be absolutely TOP NOTCH!!!! Dr. Scherl is the epitome of a professional. Not only knowledgeable, but also calm, reassuring AND takes the time to clearly explain to the patient AND allow for questions. Her office staff is equally terrific, and, in my experience (three visits), appointment time was just that--on time. In fact, I arrived for my third visit a little more than an hour early--due to another appointment elsewhere that went much more quickly than I expected--and expected to wait. Chaotic, crowded office. Intake nurse seemed annoyed at the fact that I had a number of prescription medications to be entered into my chart at my first and only visit. Receptionist insisted I did not have a copayment as part of my insurance plan. I do, and I did, and I insisted on paying it at the time. I made an appointment to see Dr. Scherl but was seen by someone else in the practice. My visit to the office was on 1/31/20 to remove a wart on my finger. The wart is still here. I did not receive a first bill for my balance due until the middle of June. It is marked past due 90-120 days. I tried to pay the bill online with their payment processing service - which I have used successfully for paying other providers - but there was no record of the bill. I'm mailing a check which hopefully will eventually get to their post office box in Michigan and posted to my account before it goes into collection. The negative reviews, of which this is one, are too similar to be coincidence. I could have gone to some random place by my office in the city and I wouldn't have had to take off half the morning. read more

Just saw Dr. Laureano for the first time today. She has excellent bedside manner and shows genuine interest in her patients. She did a full skin check (very thorough and careful, explaining each little thing as she went) and answered every question I had. She seems very caring and very competent. I really appreciate the time she took to address every concern I had, and will definitely go back to her. The practice's staff was also lovely - they were all quick and pleasant and the wait time was short. They even have a great system for the ever-present new-patient forms: it's an iPad with an interactive questionnaire - super quick and easy to fill out. It was a great experience from beginning to end and, as I said, I will definitely go back for anything dermatological I need. read more

My husband went to see Dr Rothman TWO weeks ago and is STILL waiting for the results of a biopsy. Apparently, the ONLY woman authorized to give out test results was out of the office for a week, and even though she's supposed to be back by now, NO ONE has gotten back to us. Fancy facial procedures are apparently more important to this office. It's a shame, b/c I usually see Dr. Laureano, and she is lovely. read more

Overall, this practice has terrible customer service and has zero consideration for their patient's time and needs. My first appointment, I waited for about 30min and when I finally met with the doctor, she told me that I would have to make 2 follow-up appointments with the MOHs surgeon to get a dilated pore removed and the aesthetician for extractions. That appointment was a total waste of time as she didn't actually do anything for any of my concerns. When I went to make the follow-up appointments, the MOHS surgeon was only available ONE day out of the week and only in the morning. Completely inconvenient. The aesthetician also had very limited hrs and I couldn't get an appointment for another 2mths! Even with all these inconveniences, I decided to go ahead with my MOHS appt. I'm currently writing this review in the waiting room because I've been waiting for over an hr to see the doctor. This is insane and completely unacceptable for a practice. The only reason I'm staying is because I had to take the day off from work just for this appt. After this appt, I'm never coming here again. read more

I have known Dr. Sharon Scherl (dermatologist extraordinaire) for years. She not only takes care of my routine, yearly check-ups, but she takes care of the overall appearance and health of my skin, to make sure it is always looking its best. She is excellent at everything she has to offer and if you are interested in the latest technologies and techniques, she has them all. She is also very low key. So, if you don't see something you need, go ahead and ask. She is very accessible, friendly, professional and supportive. (I use my car to get out to Tenafly, but I am sure there is some way to get public transportation.) In any case, she's totally worth the trip.) read more

I saw Dr Laureano for a few skin procedures, fillers, and Botox. She was accommodating with my work schedule and saw me over the course of a couple of sessions to address all my concerns and fears carefully. She gave me exactly what I asked for, a refreshed, natural look that everyone notices but can't tell why! I love this!!! Her office and her work is super clean, she has excellent patient care manners, and is knowledgeable about the latest products and procedures. My skin has literally never looked better!! Dr. Laureano is kind, accommodative, and extremely knowledgeable. She is not out to convince you to purchase anything or any kind of treatment and works with you to find the best solution. And she also doesn't ever rush an appointment! The office's pricing is very reasonable and I have had a few mishaps with the front desk, but for the most part it has been great. I made an appt for Botox. Dr Scherl was very nice and told me to come back since it was my first time with her office. The staff made it extremely difficult to get a follow up appt but finally it happened. Now only one month after the appt,vI am noticing the results are fading. Botox should last a minimum of 3 months! I called and left a message one week ago. No one has returned my call!! I think I made a serious mistake choosing this office. Very disappointed!!! read more

I think Dr. Laureano is competent and actually very interested in each of her patients. I saw her today after not being in for two years and she completely remembered me and asked about my well being. She actually recalled some things about my last visit which surprised me. I needed a basic exam and felt she did a very thorough job. I also needed some dandruff shampoo and other meds that Dr. Laureano took care of very quickly. I waited weeks for an appointment..in SHORT,,,was stuck in a tiny..raggy waiting room (with 20 people or more) for "yes "50" minutes..."on the clock",,then was finally put into a room. I waited for her HONOR, the doctor,,,another 20 minutes to show up...just when I was about to get dressed and get the hell out of there!!! She then shows up,,,looks at my sores and ""tons"" of photos which I have taken as proof of what is happening, only for her to tell me it is my "imagination",,,that I am scratching in my sleep (which is crap) and in a matter of 5 minutes (after having waited for one hour and 20 minutes,,,this inept, condescending, lazy good for nothing.. with the personality of a "wet rag", good for nothing more than "pimples" and whatever other cosmetic problems come in..tells me to get dressed. And for this god knows what she will bill my Medicare,,,at which point I will contact the # which Medicare gave me to give my complaint,,,when I called them to tell Medicare she should NOT, NOT be paid for doing absolutely NOTHING but taking up my entire morning traveling back and forth and waiting forever. As I was informed by people in the know,,,she, "double books" her appointments and therefore 100 people waiting, coming and going. Went to this office for the first time this afternoon. It was recommended by Park Medical, where my general doctors practice. The fact that it is literally blocks from my house is a plus because I don't like long drives after visiting the doctor's office. Too much stress. I was a little nervous as I hadn't been to a skin specialist in several years. After filling out the forms and showing my insurance cards I had to wait about 45 minutes, but once called inside the Doctor came in immediately. The way in which she introduced herself to me, instantly put me at ease. Her smile and her calm demeanor gives you the impression that you are the most important patient she has seen all day. Her professionalism is apparent right away. She explains things in simple basic terms and yet you know that she is an expert in what she does. Above all she is thorough. She examined all areas of my skin, explained why and what she was looking for, gave me a helpful guide for self examination, and told me what my options were. She made recommendations for skin lotions and stressed the importance of routine exams. I see from prior reviews that some patients had issues at the reception desk and I did witness one minor confrontation while I was waiting, but it did get settled to the patient's satisfaction. I also know that when you call from the outside you get a recorded message and get sent to a voicemail system. These are all minor issues. Thank you Dr. Laureano. Keep up the amazing work. read more

Have been going to Dr. Scherl for several years... Her staff is always very kind. She's a great doctor who i always feel very safe and well informed after leaving her office. I have many freckles, sun spots, moles I like to have examined and she always makes sure to thoroughly examine me. I also had a mole i didn't like for cosmetic reasons which i wanted removed, she removed it for me, sent it for biopsy and also told me before she removes any others she wants to confirm with me if the result of the first removal is something I'm going to be happy with. Dr. Scherl and her staff are extremely rude and nasty, been going to her 2 maybe 3 times a year for 7 years, and had a problem once again with her receptionist /manager Maria Ricon, and she couldn't be bothered to let me tell her what went on. She also called me an asshole. Really the dr did, unbelievable, and wasn't concerned at all with a growth on my back. I had melanoma 8 years ago. very rude and disrespectful staff. needed a refill for my prescription and they wont let me speak with the doctor. they want me to wait two weeks just to make an appointment even i told them multiple times that i need the prescription right away. nobody listened and all they care about is why i didn't come back for a follow up years ago. the doctor told me i only have to come back for a follow up if it doesn't get better. and these ridiculous staff just made a big deal out of it. that i was required to come back for a follow up. all i wanted was a refill for my prescription. all i wanted was to speak with the doctor. but this overly rude cindy, do not know how to listen and understand. this woman should not be working on customer service. very rude sarcastic and disrespectful read more

Dr. Laureano is great thus far, and nothing bad to say about her, but apparently there's only one receptionist there with a normal and decent temperament who doesn't sound like she's miserable everytime you call. If you can't be bothered, perhaps you shouldn't be a receptionist who works with people every day. I will be saying something to not only to the doc but also directly to the receptionists face if she so much as gives me one problem for no valid reason. Evidently, I'm not the only one who's had a negative experience with these women. Makes me question the entire practice as a whole for condoning this to be frank. My mother has also called on my behalf to ask a question while I had bronchitis once, and has witnessed exactly what I'm referring to. It's intolerable, and I won't put up with it, and none of you reading should either. If it persists, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more
