I had a large skin cancer on my face. it was removed by Dr. Evan Schlam. when he stitched the wound he was extremely meticulous taking his time to get it perfect. when the stitches were taken out, I was left with scaring so minimal, that I can barely see it even in a magnifying mirror. Absolutely one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a dermatologist. In short, I was charged over $300 to remove a pimple. They had to inject me 3 separate times to remove it (it's still there by the way) and after the 3rd injection, they told me that if that didn't work, they would have to bring me back for an incision which would cost another $200. So $500 to remove a pimple, instead of working with the patient to doing the right thing which would be to only charge if they were able to dissolve the pimple/cyst. The place operates likes a deli counter, cycling patients in and out every 3 minutes. They only care about making money, not providing good service to their patients. Do not go here! read more

The whole staff here is clueless, rude and uneducated. I was misdiagnosed with dermatitis by both a PA and nurse practitioner when in fact I had scabies and they even refused to give an actual work excusal letter. There was no help nor assistance whatsoever. All they know how to do is collect copayments and offer pharmaceuticals. read more

First, I have to say how wonderful the staff is and how welcoming they are. Dr.Schlam treated my skin cancer and he did with the utmost care. I have been going here since 2012 with fairly good results. Today that all changed! I have never been treated so unkindly by a doctor. He was condescending and raised his voice. He has no idea what's wrong with me. A rash on my hand for 4 weeks. Dr. Schlam did nothing but make me feel worse. Other than walking in the room he did not even see my hand. Shame on him, he shouldn't have become a doctor if he didn't want to help people. He barked at me to go see a neurologist. For a rash?????? No one from my family will ever step foot in there again. I will also be calling my insurance company to let them know how their participating provider is treating their patients. I can in no way recommend this practice to anyone. Do yourself a favor and stay far away. This part of the review is less than 24 hours after seeing this doctor for the second time. When I got home from my appointment I stopped using the ointment he had me buy from his practice instead of giving me a prescription. Guess what my rash is almost gone! See pictures. I saw Dr. Evan Schlam this morning for the first time. Absolutely one of the best experiences I've had at a medical office. The entire staff was incredibly friendly, upbeat, and efficient! I was in and out - remember, first time patient - in under 30 minutes. (In fairness, I did send what info I could ahead of time.) Pam at reception, Sue the PA, and Dr. Schlam we're all great, as was everyone else I interacted with. SO happy I chose this doctor and practice. Highly recommended!!! read more

Always a great experience at this office. The lobby and patient rooms are always very clean. There is never a long wait time, and the doctor comes into the room almost immediately after you enter. The entire staff is extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. The door had a sign stating the COVID procedures. The lobby had clearly marked seats that enforced social distancing, they tale your temperature when they call you to enter, had hand sanitizer located all over and staff wore masks. The exam was very thorough and made me feel comfortable and confident. My children also are patients here and they are just as amazing with children as they are with adults and seniors. read more

My wife made the appointment for me. They gave her the date and said they will find out if my insurance was within network. Showed up to the appointment date an, at the window, we were told I was within network. See where I'm going with this? Got in the office and got checked by Sue, not the doctor I was getting the appointment with, she was nice and she decided to take a biopsy, all after only 5 minutes. Out of the office, I'm charged $225.00 because, now, I wasn't on network and this included the biopsy. We decided to ate the bill and requested not to send the biopsy, they said they couldn't do that, had an argument about it and we found out we got screwed. Payed the bill and this caused an argument between the wife and I. Thank you for that too. The office called me and "apologizing" I was told I would get a refund of $110.00 because the lab, for the biopsy, was within my insurance network. 1 month later, no reimbursement yet, but yes another bill for $25.00 that we had to pay because every time I try to call their billing department, they don't answer, but they do quickly answer at the appointments extension, and they say they will relay the message. So, no explanation whatsoever. I can see in the bill an adjustment of $110 to the lab, does this means I was supposed to pay another $135.00!?!? on top of my $225.00 Avoid these people like the plague, they mislead my wife and they lied to me, I won't be surprised if I get another bill for making this review. read more

DR SCHLAM? MORE LIKE DR SCAM This is a predatory practice. Dr. Schlam spent in total 2 minutes with me. Afterwards, he didn't even bother telling me the name of the medication he was giving and did not give us the prescription but rather charged us $50 for an antifungal cream that could "only be given in a doctor's office." When I went home and checked online, the antifungal costs $7 at CVS. In addition, when making the appointment, the front desk confirmed that my insurance was accepted but then charged us an extra $30 after the appointment because it was now deemed "out of network." Its understandable if we should be charged more if it was out of network, but it was predatory that they didn't tell us beforehand and it was never communicated to us even while we were checking out. tl;dr WILL TRY TO PAWN OFF 7 dollar CVS MEDICINE TO YOU FOR $50 BUCKS. This doctor was awful. After i was waiting in a room way past my appt. Young schlam came in. Would not have a consult with me, all he did was yell about the several meds i use topically for many years and many dermatologists agreements to prevent further spread due to my autoimmune conditions. said this was med abuse! He acted strange. Said he would do my scripts once but after that will only give me one tube of an over he counter....Which i never filled as it does not work on my conditions. Do your due diligence This was during the first covid and doctors were not wanting to work. I never would have gone there again had i not had much choice. Went back and got a new light brown mole or some thing had grown on my nose. He wanted to send it for biopsy. Do your due dilligence. There is more but not for here. read more

This is an excellent practice. It must have a very good office manager to operate so well. The staff is courteous and kind and I have always found Dr. Schlam to be PUNCTUAL. Don't you just hate it when you have an appointment an have to wait over an hour to see a doctor. I feel my time is just as valuable as the doctor's time. I like this doctor's manner dealing with the patient. ... he always seems to ask the right questions to diagnose the patient (that would be me) and is always a pleasure to talk to and he has a great sense of humor. I have seen Dr. Schlam numerous times over the years and he has always successfully diagnosed and resolved my dermatology issues. I went here years ago, looking for help with Psoriasis. At the time I didn't have insurance. The PA never even came close to me to look at my skin. She stayed far away cattycorner in the exam room, arms crossed, making me feel very self conscious. Shaking her head she said there was no help for me with my Psoriasis from the Pharma companies, you must have insurance. I left feeling defeated and horrible about myself in so many ways. I returned to my Dermatologist in Miami that I had used for years. That not only was happy to see me, got me signed up and approved for very expensive medication that very same visit and with in a week and a half I was on my way to relief and clear skin. This office has everything down to a science-- I have been a patient for over 8 years and never waited more than 5 minutes. That being said, the appointments are really quick-- if you're looking for someone to sit down with you, chit chat and explain everything to a T, this is not your place. But their method suits me. I actually love one of the PAs there, Sue, and have started requesting her rather than Dr. Schlam. It expedites the process even more and she is really friendly and informative. They do sell most things patients need at the office. Again, I think this is great because it means no stopping at a pharmacy, but I could see how some people would be turned off by this factory-like setting. (Of course you can get a script and go to a pharmacy if you'd like!) I am a fan of this office, but know what to expect before you go. read more

Fast & Reliable! Doctor visits are not something I look forward to, in most cases there's double booking and you end up spending hours waiting to see the doctor for a couple of mins... This is NOT the case with this office. I've been a patient here for nearly a decade, the office is clean, the process is quick and painless, before you know it you're out and living life like you should. Without fail, every time I've called to make an appointment they find a slot open right away (usually the same week if not the same day) The staff is also very friendly and discrete, since no one wants their business out there to begin with. The doctors are also very detailed and answer any concerns or questions you might have. They carry a lot of the medicines/lotions/shampoo/ointment you might need which saves you a trip to the pharmacy (added bonus) To be 100% honest, I've never been in that office for more than 30 mins... Wham bam thank you maam. The younger Dr Schlam is who I saw. He couldn't wait to do an extremely unthorough first patient exam, then barely nitrogen sprayed several places, not enought to have the tissue slough off like it needs to, so they didnt do the job they should have. My chief complaint was a rash around the mouth that wont go away. I had it before, knew what it was, told the Dr what worked before and what didnt. He didnt want to prescribe me the oral medication I know works, just sold me a topical cream. They biopsied a spot on my hairline. That was almost 3 weeks ago, and I had to call them to find out if it was cancer. " No, it's normal we never call if it's normal". Not good patient care. Back to the rash, the cream he sold me didn't work, rash is spreading, so I called to get him to prescribe the pills that I told him work for me at the first visit. His girl says he will want to see me before prescribing, and will only give me a 2 week rx, I know it needs to be a month for this. I say I don't think he needs to see me again, she says, yes he does,and it will cost you another $50 for the follow up. He just saw me 17 days ago, why is there a charge to see me again for 30 seconds to say "yes it's spreading". I asked if the Dr himself could please call me, Dianna said "he's insurgery, it won't be this morning" I said "it doesn't have to be this am", she says he might not be able to call you today at all, I said it doesn't have to be today, she hangs up on me. So $245 dollars after a 5 minute exam, the PA does the biopsy(I came to see him, not her), the Dr. doesn't listen to what I tell him works, insists that I take a topical cream instead, it doesn't work, so another $50 to see me again to prescribe what I wanted in the first place. This Dr. sees dollar signs, not patients, and they have surly phone staff that then hang up on you, and I wasn't rude to do anything to deserve that. I will never go back, and I don't have anything nice to say about this office. read more

We have been using Dr. Schlam and Sue, PA, for over six years now. They treated my son's acne during his teenage years, as well as diagnosed and treated my basal cell carcinoma with MOHS surgery in their office. Dr. Schlam saw my daughter for an emergency skin issue within an hour a few years ago. Just today, he saw me for my own emergency skin rash issue within 30 minutes of me calling his office. I've been going here for 8 years and the staff is so friendly. People complain about being in and out too quickly but that's exactly what I want to do when I go to the doctors. My first appointment Sue had taken her time with me and I've been seeing her ever since. After that the rest of the appointments have just been checkups to pick up more medication, have my face sprayed, and get in the UV booth. there's really no need to be there longer than 15 minutes. I felt that Dr. Schlam was continually pushing me to make a decision in my 2nd visit to him so he could calendar a 2nd mohs surgery right away or 7 visits of radiation for my nose. I was feeling quite pressured; his demeanor he wanted a decision then not later. I feel he was unethical by withholding treatment for the stitch removal on my chest mohs surgery he did that day until I make a decision on my nose mohs surgery along with scheduling me for a nose surgery to begin with and not even having the biopsy result in. I have never dealt with a doctor that I felt was unethical in my life and using scare tactics like my nose is going to be eaten up by this if I don't get this treatment and stating I'm full of skin cancer without even having made a full body scan yet. I never received a copy of the biopsy results which every professional doctor I have ever been in the past has provided prior to making a decision for treatment. This is a wonderful practice, I've been coming here since I was 14 years old to treat hormonal acne (I am now 21). The few times I've seen Dr. Schlam he was very informative and hands on. I normally deal with Sue, the main PA and she is always friendly and willing to help. The products and medications they sell through the office are of top quality as well. The only OTC benzoyl peroxide wash that doesn't dry my skin out. Overall, friendly staff and quick, efficient care. read more

I went for a biopsy of a mole and my mom had a spot removed from her nose. We were told that my mom's procedure would be no big deal. One year later, she still has a noticeably large chunk of skin missing from her nose. My mole which they biopsied is now huge and red; it just doesn't look right. I'm going to another derm now to follow up. Schlam may be good; who knows? He had his assistant do both mine and my mom's procedures. I didn't go to see her; I went to see him. read more

I went recently on a co workers recommendation. It is a nice office building and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. It was very easy to make an appointment and last minute appointments didn't seem to be a problem. If you don't have insurance the fee is very reasonable at $60. Do not spend your time or money on this facility. I had a severe skin reaction for which after several paid visits was told to get a skin patch test. What a joke. They took the patches off within 24 hours, did not tell me to come back a day later to see if I had a delayed reaction. After visiting an allergist I was told that the patch test they conducted was defective. Had to pay for a new one and it showed that I have an allergy to almost 4 different chemicals. I have seen the PA a few times and I do not recommend her. (It is NOT because she's a PA & not an MD, I see PAs all the time, and I love them) There are good and bad physicians and PAs as any other profession. I do not recommend the female PA in this office, because she is simply not a good health care provider. She does not listen to the patient, quickly dismisses complaints and appears in such a hurry as if she needs to be doing something else other than seeing you. Maybe she needs to rush into the next patient, and most likely does the same to him/her. I have seen her 3 times and it's always been the same. I knew since the first time, I needed to find another place, but still have her two more chances. Not anymore, will never go back. Please find another office for your dermatology concerns.
