Terrible customer service from the lady up front, Chrissy. Rude, snappy, all over the place, has no manners or customer service skills at all whether it's in person or over the phone. It's as if she purposely doesn't do certain things up front just to complain & snap about it later, it's like getting the run around treatment. Don't understand how a family owned business can't get in contact with any of the other workers to open the gate to retrieve the car, had us waiting for almost an hour. Chrissy was literally of no use, horrible experience, i will make it my business to never return ever again! Only respectable worker there was J for doing his job properly with manners. Called back, asked for pictures, I sent them. No one would call me back, they kept telling me the manager was out towing. 2 months later and I'm still working with my insurance to get this resolved. Never never use this company. I will never recommend schliers to ANYONE. At the time, I was in an accident, went off the rude during a snow storm. PA State Police called schliers to come pull me out. As a 25 year old college student who has never been in an accident. I was extremely emotional. Schliers first said it be 200 for winch out and maybe to take me 2 miles to a safe place it would cost another 100. When I asked the operator if he would take a card over the phone he said no. He was extremely rude. He pulled me car out but I couldn't pay since he wouldn't take a card over the phone and had no choice but to give him my car. He told the trooper he would take me where I needed to go but then when I asked him he said he couldn't and would leave me somewhere on the way to where he was going. So in the middle of a snow storm I was left at a Dunkin donuts. Once I got to a friend's house I called about the pricing for my car. Through out this ordeal I got 3 different prices. First the tow operator told me 350 to 400. Then when I called $570 and lastly when I called I was told $600. The breakdown was as follows, 200 for winch out. 100 for the operator fee. $5 per miles, roughly 6 miles so $30. $50 for storage which hits two hours after your vehicle has been in the yard. Then $50 per night. My vehicle was brought in Saturday but they're closed Sunday but they charge 65 just to open the gate to bring it tannersville location. On top of that they then take your total, mine was 480 and then multiple it by .25 because they charge 25% for inclement weather which was 120 to bring it up to 600 dollars. When competing with a nearby tow company, I would have been less than 1/3 of what schliers charged me. Also they would have taken a card over the phone. Complete rip off and will NEVER recommend them to anyone ever. I wish I could give this company less than 1 star. They seriously will price gouge you. read more

I just read the other reviews and am happy that was not my experience! I got in my car in my garage to go on 2 appointments and discovered the battery was dead. I called Geico's Roadside Assistance and got an ETA of 90 minutes. I knew I was going to miss my first appointment regardless, but still hoped to make the second one ... but that one was scheduled for the same time I was told the tow truck would arrive, so that wouldn't work. I called our Ranger dispatch, and one came to try to start my car with a box, but no go. The Ranger pushed my car out of the garage and pulled up his vehicle to try to jump mine. At that moment, the tow truck arrived (ONE HOUR EARLY!!!) and the driver jumped my car, got the info he needed and was gone in about 10 minutes or so ... which allowed me to get to my second appointment on time! She was trying to charge $770 for no reason to get my car towed 1 block (the morning after for pickup) When I asked her how she got the number she could only came up with enough reasons for $550. Every loop hole for me to pay the $550, can't pay with a card, it can only say debit on the card, and making it near impossible to get my car out. She was EXTREMELY rude to me. Fluffy died!!! I was so sad that it died 100 miles away from my house. I called several tow companies to tow it back. Schlier was recommend by a different towing company because they couldn't make it. I waited about 30 minutes to have the tow truck pick me up. Their charge is 85 to set up and 3.50 per mile. My bill came out to about 600 because 120 went to toll fees round trip for the truck. I rode with the driver back home and he was nice guy. Schlier has been in business for over 50 years. i was happy i didnt get scammed like what i read from some other business. thanks a lot guys! read more

Got a flat on I-80 and had Geico call me a tow truck. Uber had an issue with getting to us because we were on the side of the highway and they threatened to leave unless we paid $30 to wait the 15 minutes for the Uber. Out of control to take advantage of people in a vulnerable situation like that. Shame on Schumer's Towing and their leadership for doing that. It's not that $30 is the end of the world, but the idea of the gouging in that situation is astounding. read more

If I could give no stars I would. They came to tow my car after an accident, and because the police called it was automatically 350 dollars to come. I was later informed it would have been cheaper if I had called. Mind you their shop it maybe 10-15 minutes from the crash site. Then they wanted to charge me an extra 50 to drive it a quarter mile up the road. My boss who came to help, swept up the debris in the middle of the road, after most of the work was done the driver helped him carry it into my trunk, then charged 50 dollars for "debris removal". Its highway robbery! They did not tell me the price before picking up my car it was like he was rushing to get it up there, so that I couldn't dispute them. The driver was rude and short with me, as if me asking questions was irritating him when he's the one trying to charge me 400 dollars to move my still drivable car down the road. My wheel was slightly turned as I had backed it up to its pickup spot, and the driver just dragged it up the bed, so now its bent. Overall they made an already bad situation much worse and more complicated, I recommend you choose any other towing company, but most of all to get AAA to avoid these theives! read more

Scam artists & crooks. If I could choose no stars I would. I was driving a friends truck when I was pulled over due to the registration being suspended. Of course the truck was towed & impounded. I left my keys, my wallet & some other personal things in the truck. When I went to get my belongings they gave me a hassle saying they needed permission from the owner. So I had the owner call & tell them it was ok to release my things to me. When I got my keys & my wallet back I was missing the $71 that had been in my wallet. When I returned to get the rest of my belongings from the truck they refused to give them to me. What do they gain by not giving me my belongings? They get joy out of other people's problems. Their prices are the highest in the area - ridiculously higher than any other tow company. The police department should stop using this company & then see how much business they would have. We were stranded on the side of a big busy highway and he arrived quickly to help change a flat on our Forrester and helped us find the safest route to the nearby hotel so we wouldn't have to stay on the highway with a donut!!! Do not use Schlier's towing - Horrible experience!!! Contacted by my insurance co. To tow my truck. Was told would be there within 1 hr. 1:15 later they called me (hadn't left yet) to quote a price to tow my trailer a total of 4 miles to local rest area. They wanted an additional $155 + tax. I told them my wife was coming with a rental truck and would pass on the trailer tow - but still wanted the arranged tow for my disabled truck. They blew me off and didn't want the truck tow if they couldn't also get the extra for the trailer. Told me to call someone else after I already waited 1.25 hrs. I should start over and wait another hour plus and they hung up on me - Wow! Read the other reviews - none are good. Don't waste your time or money on them!! Very rude and unprofessional!! read more

First mistake is I let the trooper call this company, second was when he got there I asked how much it was gonna be and I took "depends on how long I'm here as an answer". Well he hooked the cAble from the heavy duty wrecker to my truck "Small single axle tractor and a 3 car carrier stuck in the road" he pulled my truck 30 to 40 feet. He wasn't even there for a half hour after it was done he gave me a bill for $750 dollars. That's 1500 an hour. Just to hook the winch cable up and pull. These people are crooks. I called back a couple days later to ask how much it would be and they told me it would be 550 with a 2 hour minimum time frame, why did I get charged 750 for a half hour? Because they are crooks. These guys came out an picked me up, about an hour it took them to get there, pretty good considering the distance. Called Triple A for a flat tire and Schliers towing arrived. The young man however polite was not prepared, experienced or professional. My vehicle was in my driveway and to be clear I'm completely capable of changing my own tire but figured I'd cash in on my rarely used Triple AAA account especially on a blistery cold day. Immediately he asked me for a floor jack claiming his wasn't strong enough, which I thought odd considering he was well aware of my vehicle prior to arriving. Now using my own floor jack he proceeded to break free the lug nuts with what looked like an antique tire iron ( falling on his back twice in the process). It started getting dark and tired of watching him struggle in the dark I set up my light for him to see. Thinking he had things under control I went inside my house. Not 3 minutes later he knocks on my door and tells me I need to cut a hole in the floor of my van to access the mechanism to release my spare tire from beneath the vehicle and that if it takes more than 5 minutes he will leave and Im on my own. I talk him into staying if I get the spare tire out myself (which didn't require cutting a hole in the floor, just some patience and common sense). I had no confidence in his ability so much so that after he left I removed the hubcap and checked the lug nuts myself (found 2 loose) and added air to the tire. Not a professional service by any means. All in all I should have just changed the flat myself. read more

My son totaled his car last night. Police tell me don't use AAA because it's totaled and they call Schlier's, who tow it 15 miles to their lot on Main Street. Today, Schlier's tells me it's $350 for the tow. CashForCars offers to give me $180 for the car and tow it away for free, but Schlier's says if we don't sign over the title (and they won't give us a dime for the car), they will charge us another $250 by Monday for storage. That's $600 Schlier's wants for towing a totaled Civic 15 miles. Holding the car for ransom and won't even let me take my son's school books out of the car until they get paid. And then go have charity fundraisers with Harley Davidson like they're doing good for the community after fucking people over who have just dealt with a car accident. GREEEEEEEED!!!! read more

My car got stuck in a long driveway at a vacation home in the mountains so I called my Inifiniti Roadside Assistance who dispatched Schlier's. After waiting a few hours, I called Schlier's directly and was told roads were too bad and they couldn't come help me. We agreed to reschedule for Sunday. Well Sunday morning, they called to cancel again saying roads were bad. I called Inifiniti back and they found me Ed's Auto & Towing who came out to help me. Crooks! Don't use this company! My brother had an accident on 10/12/18 with our quad while we were out of town and he was house sitting. The trooper responding called this company to tow it. Our family was told there was no investigation on the accident. We called 10/13 and the number given on the business card was no good and the number on google was no good. My husband had to travel down and find out where the quad was because there was no active phone number we could find. When my husband explained he was there to pick up his quad they told him they can't release it until the investigation is finished. My husband explained there was none, showed them the title for the quad and was once again told he can't pick it up. After calling the police station we were told it wasn't under investigation and they should release it with no problem. My husband called the towing company and was told he can't take the quad. We reached out and left voicemails now that we have the right number a few weeks after again to see if maybe they got in contact with the trooper like they said they would do. Nope. The official police report says nothing about an investigation, we called the police station twice and both times were told it wasn't and we could pick it up whenever we want to. This company is a crook. I've ran into two people in town that had similar issues. I don't know how this company gets away with holding someone's property when it's able to be released. read more

My daughter's car was towed in E. Stroudsburg for borough snow removal. She was given a complimentary call by the SARP but didn't answer bc the number was unknown. Schlier's towed the car and charged $200 towing, $10 mileage (rounded up it was actually 1 1/2 mi) $100 labor $77.50 inclimate weather and $50 storage. Her car was not the only one towed but WHO DOES THAT!!!!! I bet the company made at least $10,000 or more alone that night. The proprietor should be ashamed of himself for some of these bogus fees but I'm sure he's not because he's been in business in the area...along with the SARP....for years. I asked if that was the correct eta..was told..no--I just sent someone to you-should be there shortly. Rude woman answered and said We TOLD you 90 minutes. It's not 90 minutes yet. When I asked where the truck was that was dispatched she said she couldn't get a hold of them. Luckily for me, a gentleman heard me on the phone--said I know that company they are not gonna show up in time let me help you. He put on my spare and pointed me in the direction of the dealership. Be VERY aware of these guys. ZERO customer service skills at all. They charged $280 to pull my wifes car out of a ditch and tow 5 miles after she was in an accident. They would ONLY take CASH. No debit or credit card. After my wife would not go with the truck driver to get cash from WAWA (with a freshly broken wrist), he told her he would take it to the body shop we were using and bill it through them. Apparently, he didn't know what he was talking about and took the card back to the Schlier's yard (clearly to milk some storage fees). We only found out the car was not at the body shop because we drove by. After calling Shcliers to complain, we were hung up on multiple times when really a simple apology for not effectively communicating would have put an end to the problem. Who do you know that acts that defensively unless they are protecting unethical behavior? What towing company or any company for that matter does not accept credit card if there charges are legit?
