I used to come to this place for many years . Order my omelette the same way. theres a new kid behind the counter who gave me a hard time while I was placing the order. (We don't have this, we don't do it like this) The kid told me to "go fuc myself" when I told the new owner , he didnt seem bothered at all. that's the level of customer service they have in this place now. The black half and white half were overpowered by the thick cookie, the black side more so. Tried to give them a second chance and well, I should've left them alone after the first time. Went in and ordered a sandwich and got some puddings for my sweet tooth afterward. Wasn't until I got back to work that I noticed that there was mold growing on them. So not only are the puddings not fresh but they've been sitting there long enough to grow mold? Smdh. Very disorganized. It's difficult to determine what's on offer as they have a bakery case in one place, a cooler with unmarked concoctions in another place, and then you have to read a menu screen behind the counter that keeps changing before you can absorb one page. Schmear is a wonderful addition to Main Street in Port Wash. their bagels are fresh, the shop is sparkling clean, and the staff are courteous and helpful. This is in far contrast to other Bagel establishments in the neighborhood, which seem to have deteriorated in recent years due to issues around quality and cleanliness. Last weekend, I ordered an everything bagel and an egg sandwich on a croissant. The bagel was chewy and the sandwich was also met with rave reviews. I also love their beet cured salmon and egg cups. Discovered this place off of Yelp and I am so glad I found it! The atmosphere is beautiful and everything is very clean. I love their iced coffee and their assortment of milk options as I am a fan of oat milk and it can be difficult to find sometimes! They also have a great variety of sugar free syrups which is a plus! I was in Port Washington for the first time, and an employee recommended that I check out this place. As I walked towards it, I was completely thrown off by the appearance. Schmear Market is surprisingly large with a very modern/hipster appearance. As I walked in, I could smell some baked good which is always a good thing. Their menu isn't overwhelming. In fact, it's on the smaller side. They have a few basic sandwich options, but they do have a variety of fresh baked items. I ordered a no.7 on a baguette. The sandwich was hearty, and the baguette wasn't the soft inside that I expected but still good. I definitely got my money's worth in roast beef. I also bought a slice carrot cake. The icing was very sweet, but the inside was well balanced. Schema Market is definitely a place I would visit again. It's the type of place where I would bring a book or my laptop and do some work. A few days ago I got the avocado toast with smoked salmon and I was in heavennnnnn. Schmear is Port Washingtons newest bagel shop. Gorgeous interior, wooden lays, light wood tables and a nice open space in the front for waiting & eating. The staff is extremely friendly, I've been here twice and each time I've been helped everyone has been very nice and helpful. However it saddens me to say, the bagels which should be the star, are just mediocre. They aren't crispy, but somewhat chewy and a little over doughy. The spreads are just OK, and their beet cured lox which I was so excited to try it but it was hardly anything special. It was very mild in flavor and a bit of a rip off for the extra money. This place however, is not overpriced, and a few of their items are okay. I haven't had much on the menu so I don't want to completely undermine this spot, and I will change my review if I go back and try something else that ends up being yummy and worth a star upgrade. But for now, I'd stick to manhasset bagels or even any other bagel spot in port! read more
