Just had some shots in my knees feeling good heading back to the Parkway & Saw this bagel store On my way to the Doctor and planned on stopping on my way out to give them a try get my all-time favorite the real deal, cream cheese with lox tomato and onion on a bagel..... Epic fail; The Bagel was ruff to chew & Wimpy On The Cream cheese & Very Heavy On The Red Onion ??? Like why ??? Anyone that orders this sandwich at any bagel store expects for this sandwich to hit just right and this one just didn't hit.... My whole wheat sesame bagel was very tough was not easy to chew unless a took a sip of coffee to wash it down ... My buddy Doc Howie mentioned this really good bagel place on Willis Ave. So after racquetball on Sunday four of us diehard bagel fans drove the few minutes east to Roslyn Heights and parked in the big parking lot behind Barbara's Bagels. The 5 star highlights: 1) Really tasty and fresh bagels - we got there at 10 am on a Sunday and they were baking a new batch to replenish the quickly moving tasty ones. 2) $1.50 per bagel is 50 cents to $1 lower than every other bagel store on Long Island. I paid $5 for a well buttered and yummy everything bagel and a large coffee with a refill. Awesome deal! 3) Great and strong self help coffee. A good cup of Joe makes a good bagel better. The staff was on top of ensuring coffee was being freshly prepared every few minutes. 4) Really fun, efficient and chill staff( esp Adam) who went through that line( photo) in a jiffy. 5) Great and convenient location just north of the LIE on Willis Ave with loads of parking in the back lot. We stopped by on a Saturday morning and it was quite busy with locals, which seemed to be a good sign. I ordered a plain bagel with butter, and the bagel was completely drenched in melted butter. The bagel itself was good, but it was difficult to eat and very messy with all of the butter dripping. If you're ordering with butter, I'd recommend asking for "light butter" or on the side. read more

I went into Barbara's Bagels to pick up a bagel for a quick breakfast. The bagel was nice and chewy but unfortunately the amount of scallion cream cheese was pretty pathetic. I've been coming here for over 3 years now ever since I moved to the area. They have all your typical bagel spot items and everything tastes decent for the most part. I've been getting my usual every weekend- a sausage (or bacon), egg & cheese sandwich (or wrap) or an everything bagel scooped out with either plain cream cheese or butter. I prefer their hot sandwiches over the bagels bc their bagels are too thick and chewy for my liking but nonetheless, still good and my kids like them. They also have mini & rainbow bagels for your little ones too! All the workers here are friendly and nice. They make a delicious New York style bagel here. It is well baked, as evidence by a dough with superb texture. I had mine with poppy seeds and a spread of whitefish salad. Great bagel shop with outstanding service!! On our 3 day trip from Newport, RI to Roslyn, NY, we went here for breakfast before a baseball game. The staff was very kind and fulfilling. My wife, daughter and I all had bagels and coffee and even mango nectar. Outstanding!! We all walked out and my daughter said, "what great people!" I had already thought the same thing myself. It's nice when you find great places with great services that care. Thank you to the little bagel shop on Minneola St in Roslyn!! Incredibly disappointing experience at Barbara's bagels today. Stopped in this morning to grab breakfast and was greeted by an rude and incompetent employee. He began with a lovely "whenever you're ready". We then told him our order and he told my wife that what she wanted (and orders every time we go to a bagel place) isn't possible and that it would be better if we did it his way. If you would like to pay for our bagels, maybe, however, when you're charging almost 6-Bucks for a flat with cream cheese and tomato, please respect your customers wishes. Additionally, my request of extra cream cheese (willing to pay extra if necessary), seemed to be far to much for him. When I got home there was almost nothing on my bagel as if it was deliberate. This is a relatively small storefront just north of the Expressway on Willis Ave. Now, as for the bagels, they were big and fluffy (see the photo posted). However, they were cold. I know I should have asked if I wanted them toasted by I wasn't expecting them to be cool to the touch. Just a little bit doughy but not too much. Just enough cream cheese too (did I mention I love cream cheese?) I probably would have added a star if the bagels were warm. They had a decent supply of bagels behind the counter (even if they were a little cool to the touch). It's a decent bagel shop. My husband went in to purchase 1/4 lb of tuna fish. On the price board it states " tuna fish $14.00 per pound". The business charged him $5 for the 1/4 lb. Every time I visited home from college or even now when I live abroad, I am always waiting for my Barbara's egg and cheese as soon as I get off the plane. For a place with "Bagels" in the name, this place seems to disappoint. Came here on recommendation from the previous reviews. Bagels seemed a bit pricey, which normally would excite me with the thought of a higher quality breakfast. I ordered an everything bagel with plain cream cheese, although this place did have quite the variety of spreads. To get straight to the point: the bagel was cold and the spread was thin. I wasn't given the option to have the bagel toasted, nor was the business booming enough to consistently have hot bagels on the shelves. The bagel itself was alright, but not for this price. Great bagels in the PW/Roslyn area! My coworkers and I make special trips to Barbara's on Fridays to celebrate upcoming weekends. LOVE the vegetable bagel, which is actually green!! And, since they specialize in bagels, there's an extremely WIDE selection of cream cheeses (including low fat lox! and flavored Tofutti). If you're ordering a couple dozen, there's no need to order in advance either-- they're always ready to help out with large quantities while you wait!! Unfortunately, they don't deliver (sadness) but there's the added benefit of going to choose coffee from the different flavors they brew each day (I'm a fan of the dark roast myself). Be wary though, parking in their mini lot can be troubling if you go during a busy morning; park instead in the Commerce Bank/TD lot, and don't worry because you'll be in Barbara's and out fast! read more
