Intercoastal offices are completely unreachable! Phone messages say "call back during office hours" when I AM calling during office hours. On hold for 30-45 minutes, then I give up. Patient portal is NOT working for new patients (vendor issue!?)--and I've received no response to my email to their tech "support." My request for previous records was still sitting, unsent, in Intercoastal's system more than a month after my first visit. I had to fill out the request forms again for them to process it. Doctors are fine. But communications related to patient health have been a nightmare for this group for some time. read more

My complaint is with their patient portal, Greenway Health. For close to a year now everytime I try to log in I get a message stating that we are working diligently to restore service, they did some updates and my login info was either removed or changed. I have made several attempts following their online instructions which never works, they have no way that allows you to contact them. I am not able to check my messages from doctors or able to send any. Surely there are more reliable companies out there that can serve them better. read more

My primary care physician call Dr. Rahala office to send over a referral and to make sure they take my insurance and was told yes. the office called me to schedule to come in for an initial appointment and again I asked if they take my insurance and they said yes. I scheduled my appointment for 3/11 and went to the appointment. I filled out the paperwork ahead and when she looked at my paperwork she asked for my insurance card. I gave it to her and she said they do not take it. I told her that. I was told they did twice. I spend an hour driving and missed that time at work. This office is quite incompetent. I have been through 3 different primary care physicians because the doctor leaves the practice. With each change, they charge me with a NEW PATIENT EXAM. I just received another letter ind my dr is no longer with the practice. Upon calling the office I was informed that i would be charged an NPEXAM AGAIN, because I would be new with the doctor regardless that I've been with the practice for almost 4 years. The patient portal doesn't work 85% of the time. Placing a call to the office takes a MINIMUM of 20 minutes on a good day. I have been more than patient with this group because the doctor's were wonderful...well, the last 2 were wonderful. Unfortunately, the group can't seem to get anything right and to charge me additional fees for THE GROUP'S INCOMPETENCE???!! No thank you. I'm over them. Nobody EVER answers the phone. It's inconceivable how a doctor's office cannot have enough personnel to answer the phone. This is my understanding: Intercoastal Medical Group states they have 3D mammogram machines. For more than twenty years, I received mammograms at IMG, excepting one year when I used Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Many times at IMG, I would get an ultrasound also. A friend, also a patient of IMG, was diagnosed with breast cancer. At SMH, she was told that all of her mammograms were done on a 2 D machine. I was told the same thing, except for that one time I used SMH. That fact made me mad, especially since I had to have a breast biopsy, diagnosed by First Physicians Group and SMH. Could I have had prior intervention if IMG had used a 3 D machine? Also, Dr. Yenari is downright mean. He personally called me to yell at me for wanting a breast ultrasound. This practice has become very difficult to work with. Phones are never answered; they don't return calls left on answering machine for days if then; staff has left in large numbers and it feels more like a factory at this point than an actual health care facility. They rely mainly on a portal for all communication and the portal is horrible! If I am ill and require a Dr I don't want to be told Go To Urgent Care! that is unacceptable. They have NO problem though referring you to others in the group for specialty needs. Others who see you as a cash cow as well. The radiology scheduling needs help in customer service, professionalism and promptly answering their phones. 20 minutes is unacceptable to wait for a representative to pick up the phone. Asked if they were short staffed they stated no, and was told they scheduled millions of exams. They are not that big of a radiology department to schedule millions of exams. The service is terrible the last two years, you cannot get someone to answer the phones you can be on hold for hours. Their portal is overloaded most of the time it take an hour to log on to their if you are lucky. With the system being overloaded and no one answering the phones, IMG has you all of us block from ordering our drugs. There only one Urologist he is a joke and he is terrible he stand at door with hand on the door knob asking where are here for he does read your chart. You are lucky if he spend five minutes with you. His latest statement " I just work here" Check your EOB for charges he billed Medicare for 30 min and I was in his office about 5 min. Needed a neurology appointment for someone with a TBI (traumatic brain injury), got one set up for a few months out. Gave them my contact info because - TBI. They keep contacting the TBI patient to cancel the appointment and got no response because TBI. I happened to call to confirm the appointment, and they were completely unprofessional in complaining how the TBI patient wasn't answering the phone. I had to explain that there are reasons that people need neurologists and that my contact information was provided because - you guessed it: TBI. So they postpone the appointment for another two months but we are done and it was cancelled - or so I thought. They did text me a reminder to sign in for the next appointment, I texted back to say "this has been cancelled" and I get the "unmonitored" line. If I can't reach you the way you've communicated with me, get off the phone. So then I call and call and call and wait and wait and wait. Do they not understand that they are not the only neurologist in town? It's bad enough they don't understand why someone with a TBI might not be the contact person. Apparently he is a strong Democrat and used his influence with deciding whether I can be his patient. I have never experienced political reasons when going to a Dr. in my entire life. So I am glad he wrote me a dismissal letter as his patient. Please be careful when going to him he tries to persuade you to his view of politicians. He didn't deal with my medical history. Dr. Aranibar, As you know, I called your office stating how sick I was and I was having difficulty breathing.. A CT scan was ordered and I had it on June 18th. Your nurse called and said you wanted to see me the following Tuesday. June 25th. You walked in to the examination room, looked at my scan, told me how sick I was and that you wanted to consult with other doctors. You never even touched me or listened to my lungs. You said you saw fluid and wanted a sample to be drawn through the Radiology Dept. at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Your last words as you left the room were, "Don't move. I need to figure this out. Don't go anywhere. I'll be back." We waited close to twenty minutes and your nurse came in and told us you had left for the day. (She was more caring than you) You never came back. She didn't know what you wanted done. What kind of doctor does this???? Could you not have come back and said, "I'm sorry. I need to go but my nurse will handle everything." She had to call you to find out what antibiotics to order and told us Lakewood Ranch would call to schedule the biopsy. They never did and as of this writing I still haven't heard from them. No follow-up was scheduled. You finally called about 10 days later and I told you I had scheduled a CT scan with Sarasota Memorial on my own and you said, "Ok. Good.", and hung up. I still felt awful so I went to my family doctor who listened to my lungs and immediately ordered a CT scan, with and without contrast, at Sarasota Memorial. I had that done today. The scan showed my lymph nodes are infected. I am on prednisone (7 days) and levofloxacin (750 ml. for 7 days). I am seeing a doctor in the radiology department there Mon. July 15th to discuss the procedure to have the fluid biopsied if necessary and have an appointment with Dr. Sheriff on July 22nd. They are fitting me in because of all my complications, and I am leaving your practice. I have told many people how I was treated and most are in shock. They could not believe you left and never came back to speak to me after telling me how sick I was. You know I'm a stem cell transplant patient and at risk for many different issues. It was disgraceful how you treated me. I have never felt so helpless and discarded by a physician in my life. I was so sick I could barely breathe much less function. But you didn't care. read more

The lady that answered wouldn't even tell me if they were accepting new patients until we gave her our insurance info. After that I asked for specific doctor to treat me. She refused to set up an appointment with that doctor. Her response was "all the doctors are good". I need someone that specializes in migraines. Not just any doctor. She was rude and didn't care at all. It seemed like I was bothering her. Made me feel like just another number in their system. I was told I had to come in and sign a HIPAA agreement again before I could even make an appointment for my senior mother, who sees multiple doctors there frequently, instead of signing another HIPAA form at the appointment. The ignorant person on the phone also said that "it was the law". I'm POA for my mother. They lost that too. I was told to fax it in. They gave me the wrong fax number. I went to one of their orthopedics for a twisted knee and asked if he could look at my elbow, which I had treated for in this office previously. I was told they could only deal with one injury at a time and to schedule another appointment. Then at their Gastro office, I scheduled a screening which my health carrier pays 100% and they told me I needed to pay $525.00. I recommend avoiding this practice. read more

I have no idea how good/bad the doctors are here because I could never get an appointment. It took two weeks to even get into their system. My insurance company assigned me to a doctor there when enrolled, so I gave them a call. First, the lady said that they don't take my insurance, and furthermore, the doctor that I was assigned to via my insurance is not taking patients anyway. She was not nice, of course, and acted like I did something wrong. Ok, so I called back a week later and asked the same question and the lady was totally perplexed by my Florida Blue insurance and had no idea what the numbers mean, etc. I spent an hour with her and she said she'd have to check with supervisors (she was rude, New Yorker I think). Then she called back a week later and left a message that says I'm in the system. So, I call back a few days later to make an appointment and I'm can't make one because I don't have a local address on file; my address in CA on file doesn't matter. I told her how inefficient they are and she hung up on me. What a mess. If the doctors there tolerate this type of quality, or they don't pay for quality people, then they can't be very smart. read more

LONG TIME PATIENTS ARE FRUSTRATED! My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Phylis Elsishans and IMG for many years. We have always received a high level of medical care, but the administrative functions have gotten terrible! I recently called trying to speak to a human. After 40 minutes of elevator music and recorded messages I finally gave up. One of the messages was to login to the Patient Portal in lieu of waiting for a live person to answer. Okay, I've been to the Patient Portal before, so I'll try that. Well, they've switched to a new portal provider, so I have to re-register. But, NO! My wife and I use the same email and that's not allowed. So you'd think you could log in and change your username/password/email, but you get the message "Email address is not unique". Okay, I'll telephone and get someone to help. Wait a minute! This is where I started! By now I have forgotten the purpose of my initial phone call. I am 81 years old... I literally don't have the time for this. NOTE: The "Pay My Bill" function works fine. read more

The doctors are OK. The telephone service is horrible, expect to wait 20 minutes whenever you call. I've seen the receptionists, and they are not that busy, I don't understand what the problem is. WOW!!! What Just Happened?? I just received a certified letter from Intercoastal Medical Group on Cattlemen, accusing me of several tense interactions with the office staff and asking me to find services elsewhere. Let me be clear here, I have NEVER had any tense or any other adverse interactions with any medical staff at IMG. They have not been rude to me, nor have I ever been rude to them. I have been a patient there for 2.5 years, I have seen the doctor 2-3 times for med checks and a physical. I am on a medication that necessitates me coming to the office once a month to pick up a rx (no, it's not an opioid). I go to the window, they ask me my name, give me my rx and I leave. NEVER, have I felt any tension or ill-feelings. So, naturally, I call the office to ask if there has been a mistake, they assure me, it's not a mistake, it is indeed me they are referring to. I tell them, there has never been any problem, she assures me there have been. I am a healthy, middle age woman who also works in healthcare and am very familiar with the emotions surrounding healthcare. I can assure you, there has NEVER been any tense interactions with the office staff and myself. I have wracked my brain to figure out what they are talking about that prompted this letter. I can only come up with they are sick of handing out monthly prescriptions and are accusing people of causing tense moments with the office staff, thereby, asking them to seek care elsewhere. If this is the case, wouldn't it have been better to just tell me you will no longer take care of this need? first, i am a physician - so, i know health care offices/ systems. this by far is the worst i have encountered. new pt visit - 1) hostile!! check in staff- abrupt, demeaning, not helpful (palmer ranch location), 2 )phlebotomy (cattlement location)- Taylor should not be allowed to interact with people. completely devoid of any min good manners, so angry!, impatient, actually grabbed my arm and yanked it straight when i did understand her request - she claimed she had a job to do and i was not moving fast enough. worst experience of my career. Also, their "finance" department is only interested in collecting your out-of-pocket monies due. They are not interested in helping with insurance coverage or coding procedures accordingly so that insurance can pay. Horrible. If I could leave 0 stars I could. I called the office while I was on the way there stating that I was in Venice and my 9:15 Quest appointment went on for an hour, because the blood work up was 7 pages long. I called the office when I was coming down 41 from Venice and spoke to Jamie in the office and asked it I could push the appointment back. She said 11:00 my original appointment was at 10:45. I said I would do my best. I made it to the parking lot and ran into the building (I'm an asthmatic who just spent a week in the hospital with pulmonary edema). I got into their door at 11:03. I was greeted by the front and was told that they needed to check to see if I can still be seen. I could tell that Jamie in was negative about the situation and by the tone in her voice I could go kick rocks. They made me wait 20 minutes before they told me that I could not be seen and I will have to reschedule. Now if any of you have driven down 41 in Sarasota knows that traffic is a nightmare, I drove as fast and as crazy as I could to get there. But not good enough for Jamie I guess. While I was waiting there was only 1 other patient in the waiting room and if the visit would have went as usual 10 minutes is all it would have taken. Drs have no problem have you wait up to an hour or longer for your scheduled appointment but dare make them wait 2.5 minutes. As for the front office staff. The reason you can never get on the phone with them is because they just sit and listen to the phone ring. I witnessed it while I was waiting 20 minutes to be told to reschedule. They claim it is because of staffing issues on the recording while you wait on hold but no an office of 6 people and no one can pick up a phone! Needless to say I will be going back to my old pulmonologist and this office can go kick rocks! read more
