I cannot see this location on the Y App because apparently they have their own app which btw is…read moreugly. The facility is old & sooooo outdated. The elevator when I went the first time to tour it was not working & i needed it. Sucks because if thats not working you cannot go in unless you climb stairs. Childcare honestly sucks. There is no such thing as ratios (adult to # of kids by age). The kids are all mixed no matter the age. If anything the ones that are kinda separated from the rest but in the same open room are the infants & that is only by a little playpen. I couldn't even work out comfortably just thinking that a toddler could throw a toy in there & potentially hit my baby because again it's a little play pen & everyone is in the same room. Childcare works by reservations only. To make a reservation you have to call. Fridays & Saturdays don't have night childcare. Sundays no childcare at all. I was really looking forward to this Y mainly because its the closest one to me but I wont be able to work out how I would like too. Mainly because of childcare. & it sucks because the whole reason i even got a membership was because they offered childcare. Maybe if it was just me I could possibly look past the overall outdated building but im still at meh!

I have had a gym membership most of my adult life in NY, SC and NC and I find our Y in Albemarle to…read morebe one of the cleanest and friendliest I've ever belonged to. One distinguishing characteristic is the members are all conscientious about cleaning the equipment after each use; I'd reluctantly cancelled my membership at an area competing gym because the members were really not hygienic about sharing the equipment no matter how many signs management posted. There are 2 rooms with many strength training and aerobic equipment. The lockers rooms are spacious and spotless and both the staff and the members are very friendly and helpful. Also, members of all ages and degrees of fitness work out together respecting each person's personal space. They have both a warm and cool pool with plenty of time for free swim and many class offerings as well. The 2 negative views posted are unusual occurrences and certainly not the norm for this facility.

I received an email announcing a new Goodwill store opening in mid February. I went to a…read moreneighboring town on Monday, 03-11-24 and visited the store for the first time. I thought the inside size was good. Depending on what you're looking for, it may be hit or miss. I love books & was in love at first sight, especially seeing all the John Grisham books and the Norton Anthology of African American Literature book I was able to get for a paperback price. There were unique items available, like the piano and a maraca. They had a decent selection of bedding items like memory foam mattress toppers & pillows. Shoes weren't organized by size, but I managed to find a pair for someone else. I didn't have time to really look through the clothes, but I managed to find a black dress I needed. The guy who checked me out told me that they had a lot of inventory that hadn't been stocked yet and encouraged me to return. When I have time, that's exactly what I'm going to do. Don't forget to bring your own shopping bag(s). I didn't know to bring mine and just used the cart to carry my things to the car. (Yelp isn't allowing me to add my pictures to this review since I'm the first to add this business; will try to add them later if permitted to.)

They have a great mix of clothing, housewares, electronics, and furniture. They work on a rotation and do not keep a bunch of unsellable merchandise that has been on the racks for a lengthy time, like in other thrift stores. You can expect to pay 4.99 for shirts, 6.99 for shoes. Furniture is sometimes priced too high, but they do 50% mark downs after 3 days of being on the floor.
