Trust me I hate to hate and especially I hate to give a poor review but they force me. In one point about twenty years ago Scholastic's picked up the torch right where Troll Bookfair dropped it. Scholastics was the leading authority when it came to giving children access to a cheap book. In the last year the moral has been low and I had to drop them. The woman that ran the warehouse I think her name was "Rachel" gave her very BEST for years! Clearly it showed that her heart was in the right place. That day came to a dead end when she "Quite!" The day she took off crying! That day was probably the saddest day ever for Scholastic's in Anaheim CA. Another woman behind the scenes as known as "Dorothy" gives nothing but her blood and soul to deliver only the best. I am compelled to talk about all these fine girls behind the scenes. That it is clear that not one is appreciated. Things have change for the worst in Anaheim CA warehouse. To the authorities of Scholastics Bookfair "You are doing a good job in destroying" this warehouse location. Basically you cut off the wings of your staff and blind folded their eyes. Now! If you can drive to the Anaheim warehouse to access books sales that is as fantastic as it realistically will get. Good luck! read more

LOVE this place!! Omg tell me i didn't spend 2.5 hours there going thru shelves and shelves of books, that are crazy marked down and cheap? Ok, so after i got all the books i wanted. I went up to the registers to pay, by the way everyone in this place, SUPER SWEET! A+ on customer service:) So i paid for my books which was a total of 46 books. (I know, i know, but im starting my kids library right). Anyways so while i was paying they asked if i wanted to purchase a plastic bag for $5 to go to another section in the front, where as many books you fit in that bag you're good to go! I'd be a fool if i didn't. I managed to fit 11 books in that bag, a pete the cat doll, a rocket puppy doll, a bracelet(ikr), and a finger pointer in. Insane right? Do i plan to go back? Yes sir! Do i recommend scholastic warehouse? Sure do. Tho idk i don't want everyone taking all the good deals now;) lol jk. Ohh, 1 warning tho. Giving you a heads up, or maybe a helpful tip?. Just last week was a book fair at my kids school. I swear i found 4 books that i purchased at the school for full price, there at the Warehouse for 50% off. My heart dropped, but on the bright side, you help the school out so it's ok. But that's how new and how wide their variety is. read more

Don't bother with the $25/box deal. The books that qualify for that promotion are pretty limited and not that interesting. We spent the majority of our time perusing the extensive part of the warehouse (up and downstairs) that held 30% off books. Definitely worth a visit. read more

I use Scholastic Book Club as a teacher. I have had many issues with them so have avoided using them for awhile. Since I had accumulating a lot of bonus points, I decided to use them for Christmas gifts and pay the difference with my credit card. I sent in a paper order with my credit card number. I authorized them to charge my card only a specific amount. I was very surprised to see they had doubled part of my order on which I used bonus points and charged me for it with an unauthorized amount on my credit card. After about an hour on the phone, they agreed to credit my account for the unauthorized charges which they did with the understanding I would return the books. They sent me a link for a return mailing label that would not work. Then today I received more unauthorized charges from them for a book on back order I had already paid for! Again an hour on the phone . These people are dishonest and I warn you not to order from them. At the very least do not give them your credit card number or they will start making unauthorized charges . I am now going to have to cancel my card and get a new one so they will not keep charging my account. Horrible people! read more

The warehouse itself is great! I more have issues with the book fair inventory they send you to sell at your school. I work for a low-income school. As in, almost every single kid is low-income. Apparently, there's no way to set it up so they don't send you boxes of hardcover books. No way to set a cost limit on the books that are sent. No way to cancel certain genres entirely that just don't sell at your school (Adult Bestsellers in English. Most of our parents can speak English, but can't read it.). We were sent, 2 book fairs in a row, 6 full boxes of just 1 new hardcover title. Was it by an author the kids like? Yes. But they can't afford to spend $13 including tax on one, single book! To get books that will actually sell, I have to use the Book Fair app, filter by price, and place a restock order the first day I get our inventory. I order 90-95% books under $5, and arrange a large display in the front of my library. Those books? SELL. read more

Who can resist 30-50% off of already marked down book prices? Add to that their "build-a-box" deal and you've got a classroom library in seconds, which is important to someone going in to their second year of teaching language arts (coughMEcough). I stopped by on a warm Tuesday. I got out of my car and promptly got back into it. Yes, the north doors below the giant, red "Scholastic Book Fair" signage are, in fact, not the entrance. You have to go to the south entrance where the loading bays are. Once you're there, it's smooth sailing. I was immediately greeted and given a cart by one of the employees there. Being that this was my first trip to the warehouse, I was clueless. I pushed my cart and found the "build-a-box" section. Seriously, a box of books for $25? How could I not start there?!?!?! The boxes are a decent size, I got 31 books in one box. I ended up grabbing three boxes because the selection in the "build-a-box" section was so extensive. I didn't find a ton in the way of the super popular, top of the charts books that all the kids are reading these days (though I did find a few), but I did find a lot of books that seemed to be of high interest that also varied in reading level. In one fell swoop I had gotten books for the entire classroom and for every reader, low motivation and low level to high motivation and level. The nerdy English teacher in me was really excited to be able to get all of these books for my wide variety of readers. No one can force them to like or enjoy reading, but the plethora of books I found certainly will help. Before I left the "build-a-box" section, the employees helped me pack the boxes to their full potential. I would have done this myself to maximize my book-buying potential, but they jumped at the chance to help me fill space. They actually encouraged me to fill the box as full as I could with it being able to close. That's amazing! I'm really glad that they were so helpful and friendly, it made the already good experience that much better. After I left that "build-a-box" section, I perused the Young Adult Fiction section with book discounts varying between 30% and 50% off. Unintentionally, I grabbed 14 books that were all 50% off (again, we got the un-marked-up price already). The most I paid for a hardcover book was $6, most were between $2 and $4. There was a good selection of books in that section as well, I could have easily continued shopping for books but I talked myself out of spending more money. I already knew I had, at minimum, $75 worth of books (from my three "build-a-boxes") and figured I was around $100 for the rest of the books. I'd already told myself that I could spend up to $150 for my classroom but didn't want to push it. I rolled up to the checkout area and was immediately helped by one of the employees. As she scanned the individual books she told me how much I'd actually be paying ("$2, $3, $6, $3.50, $1," etc.). My grand total was $117. Not bad for three boxes packed to the brim with books and 14 additional books. When I got home, I readied all of the books for my classroom library so when I go back to school to set up, I'm rarin' to go. I counted all of my books and.... For $117, I got 98 books! That's insane! My class library will be pretty stocked for a few years, but I will, of course, continue to stock the latest and greatest to make the required reading less painful. Scholastic, as it has for the past twenty-three or so years, has ignited my love for reading. I will absolutely, without a doubt, be back! read more
