i go to this and i don't recommend sending your students here, cause they have problems with people…read morebeing on their phone instead of dealing with people who are bullying other people and the staff here suck some of the teachers don't know how to teach and they will yell at you until you cry and the office staff will give you lunch detention if you're minding your business they would also give you lunch detention if you're just taking to your friends. they give us so much damn homework to the point where a lot of students are failing some classes and they also give us so much work during class time, yes i know we have 88 minute class periods but sometimes that isn't enough, but on the other hand some of these students are mean and they bullying people to the point where they don't even wanna come to school and the counselors would do absolutely jackshit about it they will just tell "you'll be fine" "we'll talk to them about it" but we're never fine and then when they do talk to them they end up being on their side and it pisses everyone off. Ms Valerie, don't even get me started with her when you tell her something personal and tell her not to tell anyone she will go behind your back and tell everyone she even called CPS on one of my friends just because she thought they were getting abused at home. also i think Ms Valerie has a situationship with the CPS worker and she calls them just to talk to them.

Events are all run by PTO and volunteers except for choir concerts, science fair, art fair etc. and they do a decent job. I want to volunteer IN my kids class. But there aren't many opportunities for that as they reach higher grades. The principal is aloof and doesn't have a level of investment at the school. The staff (aside from her,) are wonderful. So caring and so supportive. She lacks follow up, initiative and just general CARE. She can't even pronounce the names of long term teachers. What garbage. That staff cares SO much for the students. And the Vice Principal SHOULD be running the show. She is everything a leader should be. I cannot even grasp how the Principal makes the salary she does with the true lack of care and investment in the school. My son has a year left and then we are moving on. Aside from her it's been wonderful but she has truly made the school LESS in every way.

When I tried to bring this issue up with Arbow. Her response indicated a lack of awareness or acknowledgment of the problem. This is really concerning to me, especially for parents who are considering Arbow for their children. Another incident that stands out to me is when I broke my arm. It astonished me that neither her or the office staff contacted my parents after checking on me. They had no idea what had happened, and that's simply unacceptable. There's a reason school policies exist, and not following them can lead to much worse outcomes. It raises questions about how seriously the administration takes students' safety and well-being. Additionally, I've observed that some staff members are not as kind to students with disabilities. This creates an environment where these children may feel excluded and unsafe. It seems that complaints are often overlooked in favor of maintaining a certain image, which is frustrating. It makes me doubt whether anyone is being held accountable for their actions. The overall atmosphere at Nancy Ryles feels off to me. Upon entering, it seems students are not the primary focus. The cheerful tone presented by the staff sometimes comes off as insincere; especially with Arbow. Making it feel like students are viewed more as subjects to be managed rather than individuals with genuine emotions. I worry about the potential negative impact of such an environment on children's learning. While the administration might claim students are excelling academically, I recall a time in third grade when my struggles were downplayed. If parents are kept in the dark about their child's actual progress and rights, then it becomes too easy for the administration to manipulate the truth. Parents should be empowered to advocate for their kids' safety and well-being. Let's also mention the issue of diversity and racism. When I was at Nancy Ryles I n oticed a lack of diversity among students. Discussions regarding racism were often handled superficially, failing to address its historical context or present-day implications. This lack of understanding can severely limit students' awareness and empathy. It feels as if Monica Arbow cares more about the school's image over honesty and the well-being of its students. There needs to be a greater awareness of what's happening within the school environment, alongside a commitment to listening to students' experiences. Every child deserves a supportive, nurturing place to learn. My dad makes regular visits to Arbow, and both of us expect higher standards than what we've observed, especially compared to when a more compassionate leadership was in place. The teacher Leigh Holmes Was a very good teacher who cared about me in the Academic Learning Center at Southridge High School and made sure I got classes that I wanted to do. To those who are going to be there in the Special Education classes there you're in for a real treat because she's a wonderful teacher and person. I hope you read this message but not the top part because it will make you mad Leigh Holmes and trust me I don't want you to be mad or upset at me.

Kumon boosts her confidence, helps her learn to focus and become an independent learner, and makes her feel good about herself! The TV commercial says: "Kumon, where smart kids get smarter." Not sure if this stoic, quiet kiddo is really "smart" but she has been doing super well at school all these years. Mrs. Bailey and Emily are the BEST. We truly appreciate their help and support.

My daughter had been struggling with math and going into 6th grade I knew we had to do something…read more We started going to Mathnasium and I'm so glad that we did. Chris and his wonderful team of tutors have really helped my daughter improve her math skills. I even overheard my daughter tell someone that she likes math. When school was closed due to the pandemic, Chris and his team immediately went to work on giving us parents a new solution for tutoring. Within a week they rolled out online sessions. With all of our extracurricular activities cancelled we were able to add more math tutoring sessions. I really feel that even with the school situation, my daughter will continue to improve her math skills. I'm so grateful to Chris and his team.

I can't say enough good stuff about this place. In two months our third grader went from being "a…read morebit behind" to being a classroom example with her work. Her teacher says she's doing a great job explaining her math thinking and that her confidence had increased. She actually really enjoys going to mathnasium and loves the instructors. We've found it to be a welcoming and supportive environment. The location is pretty convenient in that I can drop her off and do some grocery shopping nearby.
