A couple of months ago, I caught myself in a verbal altercation with 2 other members in the parking lot... I was spit at and being threatened and didn't feel comfortable having my back to the parking lot. Find this location very frustrating to come to so I try to stay away. Came to see the notary as always I make sure to call to see what their availability is like I was told that they had someone openly available so I arrived within five minutes of being notified that. It's always something different where I am given different information in person. On my arrival and advising of the service I came in for I was told that it would be a 15 to 20 minute wait mind you nobody was in the branch. I was advised this as I came in so I would just really appreciate if the communication was a bit more collaborative. I have also had different experiences where I am withdrawing about 6K and am told here to call in advance but then experience a barrier that this withdrawal isn't possible but at my regular branch that I frequent I don't experience this. read more

(This review is specifically for *this* SchoolsFirst location) I visited this SchoolsFirst location several times now and every time I have visited, I have been greeted by friendly staff. Previously, I was able to walk in and the young woman at the front counter had assisted me to set up the pin on my debit card and answered some questions I had. Today I had an appointment with JAY to review my account and various services offered by SchoolsFirst. Jay was very patient, friendly and thorough throughout our appointment. Even though I was almost 10 minutes late to our appointment, Jay still greeted me with patience and kindness and allowed ample time for me to ask all of my questions. I have been to one other SchoolsFirst location and this location is definitely better. My only tiny criticism is that the parking lot in the plaza where they are located can get a bit crowded, but I blame the plaza itself, not SchoolsFirst, but something to keep in mind! Member Barbara Frances Torres was a strong advocate for school resources in her community of East Los Angeles. When she became a member in the summer of 2014, she advocated to all her colleagues, and fellow LAUSD employees as she was the President at the time of classified of over 35000 SEIU Local 99 members. Because of her advocacy she helped 100s of school employees find SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union and get much needed help with their finances. Barbara passed away last month but was working on creating a Back to School give away for her community. With the generous donations from her mourners in Lieu of flowers at her services, the generous donations of various organizations including SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union of Downey and Norwalk, various officials, family and friends we were able to give much needed school supplies to the community Barbara loved so much in her honor. I came in to refinance a car that I bought new. Adriana was the best. I'd estimate the whole process taking 15-20 minutes. Just bring in your bill, registration and proof of insurance and you're set. It's a hit or miss with this schoolsfirst the customer service is okay until the tellers start talking to each other and get distracted. Then you have the ATM that will not take your damn money and its soo annoying! I wasted about 20min depositing just depositing that's ridiculous. Shady interaction with staff has left me feeling insecure with how my money is handled here. Recently I walked in to deposit a large amount of money and was told my total was short. This comes after the teller counted my money by hand and even had the machine verify my total, which ended up jamming in the process. A total of three staff members attempted to fix the jammed machine for a large amount of time, ripping out bills while doing so. After the machine was "fixed" the teller informed me that my total had changed from what it originally was and if there was anything else I needed. I asked him what was I supposed to do now that my total had changed from what it originally was and he replied that there was nothing more he could do. I'm still flabbergasted and greatly saddened over this blatant robbery. My faith is SchoolsFirst has been shaken and I am unsure whether to continue doing business here. read more

I've only been to this branch located on Imperial a hand full of times as I live a lot closer to the one located in the Stater Brothers on Firestone. However, all the branches I have been to have all been excellent! I've had my membership for about 7 years and I have never had a bad experience. To opening my very first car loan, first credit card, my children's savings accounts or even personal loans. They have always exceeded my expectations. Yesterday I went to see what my options were about possibly refinancing my car. The wait time was not lengthy and the lady at the front desk greeted me with a smile and was extremely helpful in explaining my options. I could either stay and speak to someone or I could fill out an application and receive a call in an immediate response time. In the past I have felt like I was at the DMV when waiting to speak to someone at other branches, and no one likes the DMV, if you do than you should get out more! Regardless Schools First is fast and convenient and I will be recommending my friends and family to consider switching to this bank. Now as far as the person who I worked directly with at the office can be described as the best customer service rep on this planet, her name was Holly. From start to finish Holly was a huge help. What I was most impressed about was how personable Holly was. This was the easiest and most professional interaction I've ever had. I deposited $1000 Cash into my checking account and it only allowed me credit of $200. They kept the rest of the $800 cash for their own investments. How sad is that. When I called the next day no one new what happened or could explained it. All they said was sorry. And No I didn't have a negative balance. I keep positive numbers all the time.
