I waited until I could visit this branch at least twice before writing a review, since consistency is key and it doesn't matter if my first visit might have been awesome, if subsequent visits aren't as great. That being said, this location is great! The first time I stopped by was on Halloween, 2018 - and it was so awesome - the branch was "dressed up" and so were the staff! The line moved efficiently and my transactions were conducted in a friendly manner. The second time I stopped by was only for Member Appreciation Day where I was able to snag a no-strings-attached water bottle that legit looked like it could be bought for $20. It was pretty high quality and had the SchoolsFirst logo on it too. What's great is this credit union does stuff like this every now and then, where they will give freebies/treats "just because" - perks of being a member! My most recent visit was last Friday, and man was this place packed. Even the guy working the front desk/reception looked preoccupied and didn't greet me when I walked in (he wasn't with anyone, just staring at his screen). The teller line had like 15 people in it, and only three windows were open. After about 10 minutes in the line and moving a few spaces, I noticed that the staffers that were in the cubicles would finish their transactions and then head over to the teller area to open up a window - which is a plus. That's always a good sign of teamwork when people from other areas of the branch chip in whereever help is needed. I was able to get to a teller eventually and was able to get my transactions completed without any issue. I like that there is a coin machine here - it's just like the COINSTAR machines you find in grocery stores, except that if you have a membership with this credit union, there is no transaction fee (otherwise, it's 10%). They also have free coffee set up for members - so that's a nice touch. Would be great if they offered free wifi, since the wait can be long sometimes (like on Fridays). Parking is shared with Target and the other businesses, but there is also a lot on the side of the credit union, out of view from Target, which many people might miss upon first glance. Overall, a favorite branch for the easy in and out when I can't make it to my "home" branch (or if it's closed). read more

Update: I feel I overreacted to problems I was experiencing and have added two stars. SchoolsFirst is generally helpful with problems as needed and I'd actually recommend them in general. I also have had a good experience with their offerings in terms of loans over the years and in this regard they offer favorable terms and flexibility in their payback options. Overall, I've had my share of troubles with debit card issues but I'd recommend them still. Below is my original review. I've had a SchoolsFirst account for nearly two decades and never had any problems until recently. These problems include disappearing charges, false fraudulent alerts from the bank, and no help with an actual fraudulent transaction. What a nightmare. I have been a member of this bank for almost 17 years and mostly received good service. But my experience today with a member of the fraud dispute team has left a bitter taste in my mouth and I will be withdrawing my funds and closing my account. Don't think the time was spent to file my claim properly with Mastercard, my provisional credit was denied on the basis that I had not returned items purchased correctly. Luckily for me, one of the vendors retuned my credit without any issue and Master Card found an issue with how the item was returned. Crazy! The other vendor promised to return my funds but has not done so yet, fingers crossed I will get this credit soon. It's hard to bank with an institution that doesn't value or go to bat for their members. read more

The easiest peasiest branch that is more like a library verses the zoo location on Broadway. Except short lines, friendly people and lots of parking. Located off the 55 and Chapman at Yorba. Anaheim, Cypress and Santa Ana are 10 times more busy than this spot. Even on a district payday zero lines. I was in and out, had a conversation with the sweet teller and done in a few minutes. I have been a member of SFFCU for over 50 years, and I have sung their praises for all that time. Except for one issue (which was resolved quickly and honorably) about 30 years ago, I have had nothing but excellent service from everyone on the staff. Each person has been friendly, caring, efficient, respectful, polite, and knowledgeable. Today Jennifer opened a CD for me, and she was a good example of my experience with SFFCU. This bank is in a convenient location off the 55 fwy. It's located in the corner which has easy access and it shares the complex with Target. I'm so happy there is now a location in Orange! I no longer have to drive to Santa Ana for my banking needs. I came to their grand opening on March 5th at 9am and was not disappointed. All the stations in the front had Tellers. The size is good with plenty of space and cubicles for personal banking needs. There are two ATMs outside and one inside by the entrance. There's also a free coin machine next to the ATM. I was in and out within 10 minutes. The parking lot is big and there's parking on the side also. read more

I was there today at about 10:30 am, and although there were 15 - 17 employees there (who were visible), only one teller was available, so I just stood there. Waiting. And waiting. Bank good, loans good but if your husband is the teacher you are treated like a second-class citizen. So my husband and I opened the account together over 20 years ago, about 6 or 7 years later I found out that I had to have his permission to get any information on the account or make any changes. Yes, you heard right his permission. Mind you both of our names are on the account and they don't have a problem taking my money. He had to sign an affidavit saying that I have complete access to everything. Once the affidavit was signed I forgot all about it now 21 years later it happens again.... I need to talk with your husband because he is the member on the account, and we would need his permission to speak with you. Really that is so insulting. What happens if they lose that affidavit and something happens to him? Very disappointed and worried about keeping my money with this bank. read more
