I read a few newspaper articles, and decided that I had to get myself a Kmart sub. Schott's was the only place that was close, and I'd never been there before. It's a cute market with a deli and meat counter, and what seemed like every type of liquor you've ever seen. Service was very friendly, particularly at the deli counter and register. I got a sub, that was like biting into the past (in a good way). I worked at Kmart for many years, and Schott's has nailed it. I got a few other prepared things that was good, and I'll have to come back for the pizza up front. This is a cool, funky little place that deserves a visit. read more

We just purchased the Schott's house made chicken Schwarma, beef Schwarma and Portuguese bread and we couldn't be happier. These meals are well worth the price. The Schwarma is tender and as tasty as any Schwarma we've had from an actual middle eastern restaurant. Well done Schotts. read more

Found this little gem last year when my son was playing soccer down the street. They have such awesome things that big supermarkets don't have. Best mom and pop market around. Since moving to the area a couple years ago I spend so much time here than Kroger or Randazzo etc. It isn't a fancy place but the quality and prices are great. Not once have I had a bad experience. Certainly worth poking your head and giving a try.....and the mostaccioli is awesome! read more

Great place. Definitely far from me which is the only downside. Hearing such great things and being in the area, I was finally able to stop in and see for myself. The Market definitely was larger than I thought. They have Beer, Wine and Liquor. They carry a wide variety of pantry staples. There is a delicious selection of pre- made foods for those nights when you don't feel like cooking. But what brought me here was the meat section. I had heard rave reviews on it. Like best, juiciest chicken ever, great steaks etc. I decided to pick up a few options. I went with Chicken Breasts, a Filet and a Ribeye. The Filet was grass fed and I was told most of the ground beef is as well since they grind it themselves from all the trimmings. I cooked the Chicken that night. It came out good, but I honestly didn't notice any difference from any other chicken I've cooked. The steaks however were amazing. Much better than the ones I was getting locally. They had great flavor and were so tender and juicy. Definitely great quality steaks. When I'm going to be in the area I will definitely plan to bring a cooler with me and order more. read more

This place is quickly becoming one of my favorite grocery stores, especially since Ive switches to trying to use only small businesses for all my needs. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I always drove passed this place and finally went in to check it out. And that will be my first and last time. It has a bad odor when you walk in. Seems kinda dirty but i looked passed that. I got cheese pies and spinach pies and that's it. I ate one each in the morning and by night i was vomitting. Now, no one really comes to Schott's exclusively for their supermarket goods. They have a tiny produce section, Spartan and name brand products-- nothing remarkable. You come here for the DELI. Where you can get the best fresh meats in the area. Their delicious sausages are all made fresh in-house, and I've learned from experience that they can make a native German cry. They've got a good selection of free-range meats and Amish chickens, and you can also get a variety of pre-made meat things, like chicken-fried steaks, stuffed-peppers, marinated chicken, etc. They also have a great selection of prepared foods like salads and some really delicious Arabic standards. (When in the mood for grape leaves, I always pick some up from Schott's.) They also sell Milano bakery items, so you don't have to drive all the way out to Eastern Market. Schott's has a surprisingly large beer selection, with some hard-to-find beers. Everything you might need for a foodie BBQ, really. read more

The five-stars that I give this place is for the meat-department/Deli, not the overall market. Once you try it, you will never want to go anywhere else-and why should you? They ARE the cheapest-hands down! Although Schott's does carry your average groceries, people don't come here for that. They are long-time, faithful customers because of our Meat. I've been working in the meat department for a while and yes you will be taking a number and if you come on a Sunday, you will be waiting BUT there is nowhere that you can purchase cheaper, fresher, higher quality meat! That's why they've been in business over 30 years! Our variety supersedes all others as well. We carry mock-chicken for Pete's sake! We have city-chicken and yes, it's made with veal because I make it! We have store-made bacon that is smoked for hours, with no nitrates. We have store-made salads and prepared food made by Chaldean cooks. We have lamb, buffalo, grass-fed beef, & duck. We make all of our own specialty sausage with combinations like Italian with or without fennel, hot Italian, Polish, Greek, green pepper & onion, & Wine & cheese. We have chicken sausage that one lady drives 3 hours for! Chicken-pineapple is the most popular chicken sausage. We carry Boar's Head lunch meat at half the price of Randazzo's mark-up! Our beef & steaks are cheaper than Kroger, Meijer, or any other competitor. We carry London Broils that melt in your mouth! We sell whole filet's for $6.99/lb. We do whole NY Strip slabs which is a huge seller! We receive so many compliments on our Prime-rib roasts during the holidays. We also have a full catering menu and deliver! You will not find better fried chicken anywhere! DAILY, I have a customer say, "I don't buy my meat anywhere else!" & "Once I had the meat here, I literally haven't bought from anywhere else." We even have folks tell us that the taste of our ground beef is so spectacular, that the taste of the other grocery stores actually makes them sick now! The old owners are back again. Once again with the best prices and cuts of meat. From hot dogs to ground round to del Monaco's that are mouth watering. Their food selection is short right now but give them awhile while remodeling, and the store will be filled with the best yummy foods again . This place has been going down hill and it is sad. Been coming here for YEARS for the quality and great service behind the meat counter. I no longer can ask to have my meats trimmed or cut to my liking because you get an attitude. I'm coming to a butcher for a reason! I used to get a smile and an expert opinion on what to buy...no more. There is one particular woman in the meat department who NEVER smiles and is just rude. Never a hello, just what do you want...what else. No thank you no have a good day...just a mean face. Not the old Schotts with killer product and staff it used to be know for...sad. JMO read more

Schotts Supermarket is one of my favorite places to shop. People come from miles around to get the famous chicken kabobs. The owners are usually there so the customer service is always top-notch. read more

So, this is an update from my last visit to Schotts Market. Went in today to pick up some stew meat. My first impression was good this time. The bottle return area was clean which was never the case with the previous owners. When i walked in there were numerous people (not helping customers) just doing different things, but no greeting whatsoever. I started walking towards the back and the shelves were impeccably straightened and neat. Very nice! As I approached the meat counter I came upon a very loud argument between two employees, one in the front, one in the back. There was already a customer waiting for service when i approached, but they kept at it and finally the other employee came out from the back to finish the argument. Wow. The meat case is still mostly empty. I ended up not purchasing any meat as it just felt very uncomfortable in there. I redeemed my bottle receipt and left. I am not sure if I will go back. There some definite improvements from the last time I was there but I don't know if they are enough to keep my business. The small town feeling is gone. Oh well, I guess thats progress. Oh, and they no longer process deer. :-( read more

They have a pretty good selection for being a small store. Prices are decent too. They have a really good selection of meats and the staff is usually friendly and helpful. My only complaint is their Amish chicken (probably ALL the chicken ) has to be cooked the same day or it goes bad quickly. I bought Amish chicken breasts on Sunday afternoon and by Tuesday at dinner time I went to cook it and it was rancid! Stunk up the house without taking it out of the bag. read more

Awful,past 3 visits,rotten sausage. Bought wine and cheese yesterday,smelled completely rancid upon opening bag,meat was covered in slime!! This was 2/21/17 today is 2/22/17 go buy some today. Youll see. 3 rd time, in a row. Still have them in the freezer, will be tested and results posted. I used to be a regular, but this is nasty,nasty stuff. I will never go to Schotts again. With Salvaggios,Vince and Joes, and Randazzos at least I know the food is fresh and the have standards. Which Schotts obviouly doesnt. Meijers meat counter is even WAYYY fresher. Wow... I just got back rom my first visit to your store... I will never shop there again. It's been a very long time since I've interacted with such piss poor cashiers as today. Not one word said, no eye contact and acted like I was bothering her. If you care to address this, she was the older, heavier of the 2 there at about 5:30 today - 1/5/12. Pretty cool store. They sell liquor which is cool with me. Produce section I pass on but like noted in another review their meat market is awesome. They make all their own stuff and even used to process deer in the past. They need new shopping carts though. read more

Used to live right up the road and would come here often for their meat counter. Good selection and good quality. Needed a pork shoulder once and the butcher actually went into the back and cut one for me at needed weight. Very impressed. read more
