Loved the Lodge decor & space, coffee station in lobby & daily choc chip cookies in the lobby. We used the game room, the indoor pool, the hang out areas. Favorite spots were the beach, snack shack, deck overlooking the lake. Beach swim area PERFECT for toddlers!! The sand was great & resort provided beach toys, chairs & beach towels (so helpful!). Loved the open grassy areas, fire pits & cute chairs, playground & mini golf. Only gripe was our lower level rooms were musty & water stain on shower ceiling (Rm 211) - would be easy to fix that stain. Daily housekeeping for the rooms is included but slow (I had to request it 3 times in one day; finally done around 4:30pm). Overall we would totally recommend this resort. VERY family-friendly! We made terrific memories & would definitely return. I just think a bit more refreshing of the rooms would elevate the experience to remove the negatives.

The Inn is run by a lovely couple Cheryl and John who couldn't have been more helpful. We originally reached out by email, which was respond to quickly. Then the email was followed up with phones for payment, which was extremely reasonable for this over the 4th. After speaking with them it felt like we had known them for years. Bedrooms are simple, but nicely decorated and clean. The beds are very comfortable too! Kitchen has everything my mom needs when she's in the mood to cook, or my dad is just as quick to throw some burgers on the grill. The kids love the huge lawn that they can run around on and play games, while my favorite part is the screened in porch where I can watch the kids and the great view of the lake at the same time! Of course the view is better from the private beach and the whole family enjoys having a bonfire down there at least a few times during the week. Looking forward to next year already!

Positives: Contactless check-in: I booked online and received an email with my room number and door code the day before. We were able to arrive at our convenience and got into the room without any issues. Ambiance: We stayed in a 2-queen room, which was clean and modern. There were thoughtful touches throughout that made us feel welcome, like decaf coffee pods for the Keurig, a mini fridge with a freezer, a microwave with cup o' noodles and oatmeal packets, and a small entryway table. Beds: Very comfortable with plenty of bedding--sheets, a fleece blanket, and a comforter, making for a cozy winter stay. Parking: The parking right outside our room was incredibly convenient, especially with all our luggage for our brief visit as part of a much longer itinerary. We also appreciated that the lot was kept clear and well-plowed despite the snowfall. Location: Just a short distance from downtown Schroon Lake, with nearby restaurants and Lake Placid within an hour's drive. Opportunities for Improvement: Odor: There was a faint smell in the room--nothing overpowering, but noticeable. After a while, I stopped noticing it, though every time I returned, it would remind me it was there. Inconsistent water temperature: After a cold day outside, I was hoping for a hot shower but could only get lukewarm water. Later, the water from the bathroom faucet was scalding, which was frustrating. Bathroom: The bathroom could use some updating to match the rest of the room. The walls and tub were a bit yellowed, there was some dirt and dust in the corners, and there wasn't any counter space for toiletries. Overall, this is a solid place to stay if you're looking for somewhere comfortable and affordable to rest during a weekend of adventures.

We were greeted on arrival by two super friendly but well behaved dogs, Buddy and Bella. Our room was very clean and serenely decorated with it's own bathroom (nice claw foot tub). The sheets felt like a thousand thread count sheets if there is such a thing. No in room TV, but Linksys WiFi was there so I watched Netflix with earphones. Nice in room fireplace for ambiance. The breakfast was amazing beyond words. Everything was expertly homemade and served on a well set dining room table that sat 6. First, fresh fruit cocktail with raspberries, nuts, melon, grapes and pineapple. Second, sticky buns the likes of which I've never had. Third, croissant made with egg, potatoes and Canadian bacon. Fourth, challah French toast with local syrup. It was Mother's Day and all the ladies received a rose. Very nice hiking to the top of Mt Severance nearby. You'll love the view. Recommended if you are looking for a relaxing place with well thought, homelike touches.

The room we stayed in was very clean with a little view into the woods. Beds were comfy and the shower had good pressure. I did wish there were a desk or additional bedside tables as we quickly ran out of surface space to keep our things on. The only space available was one bedside table, a very small shelf with half of it taken by a lamp, and the top of the microwave. Nonetheless, it was a very pleasant stay and the breakfast offerings were great for those looking for a little sometime before hitting the road.

I'm please to report that Pine Tree Motel and Cabins is a true hidden gem. Cozy, rustic, remote, and surrounded by the almost overwhelming beauty of upstate New York. Norleen is an amazing owner and caretaker and jumped at every chance to make our stay a dream. Just city and first name would be interesting but personal privacy wasn't a priority. The rooms are great though. The bedset and curtains matched and there was a fridge (freezer didn't do anything since it was missing the door) and the AC was blasting for me when i got in. The blinds and curtains doubled up really block out the light. There was a bit of dirt around the room, but it's dusty and woody outside and probably blows in easily. I would definitely stay here again though.
