We had plans to ski nearby Gore Mountain but the wind and a -40 degree windchill kept us from the slopes. This turn of events left us with more time than we expected at the lodge. Lucky for us, there were plenty of available on-site activities to keep us cozy and entertained. Highlights included: - Indoor heated pool & jacuzzi: What a luxury in the dead of winter! Spacious indoor area with large windows to house their pool, kiddie pool, and jacuzzi. Lounge chairs, tables, etc. Ample supply of pool towels, easy access to bathrooms, and separate changing areas so you don't have to walk through the lodge in your suit. - On-site activities: Board games available with ample seating near a fireplace. Large bar area. Group activities like bingo. The list goes on. - Comfortable rooms with useful amenities: Large televisions (great as the Olympics were on!), soft beds, mini fridge, Keurig, and the like. - Proximity to Downtown Schroon Lake: Although there was dining available on-site, it was nice to have a number of restaurants to select from 5 minutes down the road (and a stellar view of the frozen lake anytime you're pulling out of their property). - Hot drinks & snacks: I enjoyed some free cookies and hot beverages available in their lobby and main bar area on several occasions. Speaking of their property, the drive in among their towering trees is impressive. Lots of variety in the type of accommodation you can book. Ample parking. Great with snow removal and ensuring guests can get in and out. Staff were very helpful. Only snafu we encountered was right at check in. The heater in our first room sounded like a jet engine taking off with an incurable rattle. It was late but the front desk was very responsive and moved us to another room. Unfortunately, the room was quite a trek and was only accessible via stairs (which was a bummer as we had quite a few things we needed to drag in). To our delight, on trip 2 to our vehicle, the front desk stopped us and offered a 3rd but much closer room that became available after a last minute cancellation (which we gladly accepted). They didn't have to do that but we really appreciated them keeping us in mind. We were also granted a slight extension on checkout given our change in plans. Would definitely stay here again!

Also ice fishing right outside if you're around that time of year. The shopping area downtown is walking distance and there's some amazing places to eat as well as good coffee shops. There is also a nice game room for pool and shuffleboard. Outside fireplace was very nice. However, a little bit too cold and windy the day I was there. Definitely would love to go back sometime.

The Inn is run by a lovely couple Cheryl and John who couldn't have been more helpful. We originally reached out by email, which was respond to quickly. Then the email was followed up with phones for payment, which was extremely reasonable for this over the 4th. After speaking with them it felt like we had known them for years. It's been a year since COVID-19 uprooted our sense of normal life and changed so much about our world. One thing that hasn't changed is the beauty of the lakes and mountains in the Adirondacks. We have spent the winter preparing, and are pleased to announce that we are taking reservations for the 2021 season (May 28th-Oct 31st). As CDC and DOH recommendations change, we will update our policies also. Bedrooms are simple, but nicely decorated and clean. The beds are very comfortable too! Kitchen has everything my mom needs when she's in the mood to cook, or my dad is just as quick to throw some burgers on the grill. The kids love the huge lawn that they can run around on and play games, while my favorite part is the screened in porch where I can watch the kids and the great view of the lake at the same time! Of course the view is better from the private beach and the whole family enjoys having a bonfire down there at least a few times during the week. Looking forward to next year already!

Positives: Contactless check-in: I booked online and received an email with my room number and door code the day before. We were able to arrive at our convenience and got into the room without any issues. Ambiance: We stayed in a 2-queen room, which was clean and modern. There were thoughtful touches throughout that made us feel welcome, like decaf coffee pods for the Keurig, a mini fridge with a freezer, a microwave with cup o' noodles and oatmeal packets, and a small entryway table. Beds: Very comfortable with plenty of bedding--sheets, a fleece blanket, and a comforter, making for a cozy winter stay. Parking: The parking right outside our room was incredibly convenient, especially with all our luggage for our brief visit as part of a much longer itinerary. We also appreciated that the lot was kept clear and well-plowed despite the snowfall. Location: Just a short distance from downtown Schroon Lake, with nearby restaurants and Lake Placid within an hour's drive. Opportunities for Improvement: Odor: There was a faint smell in the room--nothing overpowering, but noticeable. After a while, I stopped noticing it, though every time I returned, it would remind me it was there. Inconsistent water temperature: After a cold day outside, I was hoping for a hot shower but could only get lukewarm water. Later, the water from the bathroom faucet was scalding, which was frustrating. Bathroom: The bathroom could use some updating to match the rest of the room. The walls and tub were a bit yellowed, there was some dirt and dust in the corners, and there wasn't any counter space for toiletries. Overall, this is a solid place to stay if you're looking for somewhere comfortable and affordable to rest during a weekend of adventures.

We were greeted on arrival by two super friendly but well behaved dogs, Buddy and Bella. Our room was very clean and serenely decorated with it's own bathroom (nice claw foot tub). The sheets felt like a thousand thread count sheets if there is such a thing. No in room TV, but Linksys WiFi was there so I watched Netflix with earphones. Nice in room fireplace for ambiance. The breakfast was amazing beyond words. Everything was expertly homemade and served on a well set dining room table that sat 6. First, fresh fruit cocktail with raspberries, nuts, melon, grapes and pineapple. Second, sticky buns the likes of which I've never had. Third, croissant made with egg, potatoes and Canadian bacon. Fourth, challah French toast with local syrup. It was Mother's Day and all the ladies received a rose. Very nice hiking to the top of Mt Severance nearby. You'll love the view. The room we stayed in was very clean with a little view into the woods. Beds were comfy and the shower had good pressure. I did wish there were a desk or additional bedside tables as we quickly ran out of surface space to keep our things on. The only space available was one bedside table, a very small shelf with half of it taken by a lamp, and the top of the microwave. Nonetheless, it was a very pleasant stay and the breakfast offerings were great for those looking for a little sometime before hitting the road.

Owner is nice and lives on the property, but I'm not fond of being told to sign a guest book where everyone's addresses​ and phone numbers are on display for anyone in the next couple years to take. Just city and first name would be interesting but personal privacy wasn't a priority. The rooms are great though. The bedset and curtains matched and there was a fridge (freezer didn't do anything since it was missing the door) and the AC was blasting for me when i got in. The blinds and curtains doubled up really block out the light. There was a bit of dirt around the room, but it's dusty and woody outside and probably blows in easily. I would definitely stay here again though.
