Job was to prune trees, bushes, and edge the sidewalk on 11/13/24. Main gruff crew leader came out and complained about doing the edging. We just had a snow storm and a large branch broke off an Aspen tree not on the estimate. I said I would pay for that tree to be looked at. Was told no and that they only had a limited time at each project. They broke a light and clipped the wiring of lighting in a tree...didn't bother to inform me when they left. That night none of my front or backyard lights would work. I called twice over 2 weeks and was told someone would call me back and they never did. It cost $170 to repair my lighting system in the backyard and they never reimbursed me. The company was just unprofessional and unresponsive after they did their job...I would never use them again. read more

The new tree was planted carefully and directions for care were thoroughly explained. The crew that took down the trees did such a careful and smooth job. Awful customer service and no communication within the organization. They were onsite and had quoted a limb removal at my property while they were completing some work for my neighbor. When the crew arrived they refused to complete the work. Had to get a second quote on my project from them. Took them 3 weeks to schedule and very poor communication throughout. When the crew finally came (a week after they initially said they would) they only completed 20% of the job and walked offsite. Back office claimed miscommunication and ultimately never showed back up. Would NOT recommend to anyone in the metro Denver area. read more

Schulhoff Tree Co is great! They came when they said they would to give me an estimate. Their estimate was one of the lowest. The woman that answers the phone was always professional and helpful. They came as scheduled and did a very good job pruning the deadwood out of our maple in the front yard, yet leaving it a nice shape. Keegan did a beautiful job shearing our 20' skyrocket juniper hedge in back and they thoroughly cleaned up the debris that fell in our neighbor's backyard. They trimmed my neighbor's tree and decided they'd rather put stress on my new wooden fence by climbing over it to clean up my yard rather than knock on my door and have me unlock my gate. I should not even given this company one star! First off the punk kid that tree trims was dropping branches on our roof ran over our sprinkler line in the late fall, Had to come fix it in the spring, tried to claim he didn't run it over. He told the owner that he had no idea what we were talking about. Where the owner said to him, now I can see the tire tracks though the lawn, you don't need to lie. He claims he didn't remember. Second offense is the tree spraying people are coming around spraying who knows what chemicals all over my vehicle and our house with a 4 month old baby inside and the windows open with the over spray on our driveway and my brand new truck, and in my child's lungs. I told the guy the last time to let me know he is spraying and I will move my vehicle and close the windows. He claims the chemical will not do anything to the paint or harm anyone. So I asked him why he is wearing a mask to spray then if it is a safe substance. And no this is the second time this has happened. So I proceeded to go out to yell at the guy spraying. Best part is all services were for our neighbor. Thanks Janice, yep Schulhoff we are her neighbor to the south on Newcombe st. But I'm sure you already figured that out seeing how we had to call you 4 different times to come fix our sprinkler that your guy ran over. And our neighbor threatened to cancel you for all her services if you didn't come. Oh and by the way the bark that you filled in the tire marks with is still in our front yard, you should probably come get it. Seeing is how you do great environmentally safe work. This company is TERRIBLE!! They are incompetent ripoffs! Judging by other reviews it's obvious that Schulhoff has a history of shoddy service and horrible customer service! My neighbor and I hired them to trim few branches at the property line on a large tree, pretty simple concept, right? Apparently not for these guys, they came twice and never completed the job! On their first visit they cut one limb and left; who does that? Clearly that wasn't the job they were hired to do. Was this crew not given proper instructions or were they simply lazy and/or stupid? On the second visit (today), when my neighbor approached the foreman about a large limb that was not cut, he was told that the limb in question wasn't on the work order. Ok fine, no big deal, let's just get it done, right? Nope, instead of just doing what the customer wanted, or at the very least calling his supervisor, this moron and his crew just left! So once again the job is incomplete, and beyond that they were rude to my neighbor! I guess expecting a job to be done as the customer desires is a concept that is alien to this company's management and overall culture. My neighbor is beyond frustrated with Schulhoff and is giving up without demanding that they make good on what was paid for, he is going to hire another company to finish the job. I think that's a disgrace and Schulhoff should be held accountable. Think twice before you hire these guys, there are a lot better companies out there that will do an honest and complete job for you. read more

They've always provided outstanding customer service and delivered expert, knowledgeable care for our trees. A special shout out to Chris, our regular point of contact. He spends a generous amount of time at our property explaining tree care to us and has voluntarily provided arborist support and advice to our homeowners association. We had them come out and trim our ash tree last November and they did a crappy job. Our tree was beautiful but needed some branches cut that were hanging over our roof and some hanging low. They did a horrible job. We have no shade as they cut branches off high up, left dead branches hanging, left our yard a mess, no cleanup whatsoever, saw dust all over our deck. Called a couple days later and AJ said he would be over to check it out but never showed up. I took pictures of the mess they left also. I have made several phone calls to them to no avail. I called them again today & supposedly they will call me back. Ya right! Please do not use this business to trim trees or anything else. Very unprofessional in not returning phone calls, not showing up as they said they were going to and leaving our yard a mess. They stripped our tree of it's beauty. Shame on you!!! read more

I don't know how companies like this stay in business. They use antiquated methods to schedule service, don't return phone calls, don't show up when they say and charge way more than other services. For example, in order to trim my tree they had to coordinate with Xcel to get the limbs around the power lines cut. The Xcel people came in and cut a huge amount of branches. Schulhoff left those branches in my backyard for 9 days before they came out! The Xcel guy said the other tree services get out the next day so the downed limbs don't kill your grass. Here's another Schulhoff gem. Me: "When are you coming to trim?" Them: "You're on the schedule for sometime in July." Me: "OK. What day?" Them: "Well, we don't know that. It depends on when we can get there." Me: "If I'm on the schedule, doesn't that mean I'm down for a certain day?" Them: "No, that's not how the schedule works." They schedule with a big whiteboard and abacus apparently. Software is a mystery to them. I'm still waiting for them to get around to sending the stump grinders out. I have been using Schulhoff at our central Denver home for 14 years. We have an old home with more than ten old growth trees on the property. They are a busy company so if you want to call them and have the expectation that they will be right over you will be disappointed. That being said , they are busy busy because they provide a reliable quality service. When you first schedule an arborist will come by your home and evaluate your trees and your property. Together you will develop a plan based on need and budget. I have never had a Schulhoff employee try to sell me a service I did not need or could do myself. I have actually had employees tell me that I can do certain things myself and show me how to do them and where to buy the needed supplies. For the actual work your estimate will be clear and in line with what you have discussed. The work is done to your specifications and I have always been pleased with the cleanup and billing. I do not need to have them out every year but I have had them out no less than 6 times and have always been pleased with the results and the guidance provided. I have also had them out just to take a look at some of my trees and provide direction for the next few years care and growth. I know each persons experience will be different but my experience with this company has been consistently excellent and I recommend them every time the subject of tree trimming and tree care comes up. read more

We got their name from our neighbor who had her Aspen cleaned-up. The tree seems to be doing fine so we called them for some work here. In our yard, they took down an Aspen and safety pruned a 40-foot Poplar. They did a very good job; kept the area clean; didn't trample on the existing flowers. We're very happy with them. Seemed friendly when I received the estimate but had to schedule 1month out leaving a small amount of time for any wiggle room not get a fine from the city. As the date got closer there was no confirmation or contact with me. I had to follow up to receive a date for service however they never showed up. I hired this company to spray my weeds since I was tired of doing it every year. I have a large yard and the person who sprayed was not there more than thirty minutes. He barely sprayed the weeds. He also missed about half. It's almost like he sprayed every other one. Also, it had been about four days and the weeds weren't dying. I called to express my concern and they told me to wait ten days for weeds to die. In my experience weeds are usually dead within two hours of when I spray them. I will pay them because I'm not the kind of person who complains to get services for free. I will not recommend them oruse their services ever again. read more

I have had Schlhoff do the tree trimming and spraying the Evergreens for the IPS beetle plus the lawn fertilization and aeration for, at least, seven years. They removed a 51 year old tree that was coming down on my roof. After the tree removal they literally swept the street. Granted, I had to wait for the tree removal because they were booked ahead after the hail storm on May 8th. Since I use them for all the services, I get their discounted price for everythiing. Honestly, they have always been punctual, friendly, and did perfect clean ups after every job. The fact that they have been in the same location for 81 years says a lot for their stability. i usually see the same employees so that also says a lot for how well they run their company and treat their employees. read more

I have never had a problem with this company. When I call I get to talk to a live person - Not an automated service. I have had trees trimmed, sprayed, fertilized and have had them treat my lawn. They are always courteous and polite. I recommend them to all my neighbors and friends. read more

Shulhoff didn't show up at the arranged time and didn't call to let me know that they couldn't make it. I left them a detailed voice-mail and asked them to contact me. They didn't return my call. When I finally got them on the line, they claimed to have no record that the work was to be done at that time and no explanation as to why they hadn't responded to my voice-mail. I canceled the work. A good company might have, at this point, contacted me to make amends or at least apologize but I have heard nothing from them. Several years ago I had a similarly frustrating experience with this company. I can't recommend a company that treats its customers with such indifference and contempt. read more
