It was not prepared as chopped and mixed together like I am used to, but was equally good (I am uncertain what a true Chicago variety is supposed to be). The service was pretty slow although I was the only one there: That is quite forgivable as my selection was put together well. The fog was freshly cooked and the bun nicely toasted. There were a few tables inside and outside. I particularly enjoyed the complimentary caramel, which was so good that I almost went back in and bought more (but resisted). They offer dairy made from a2a2 milk meaning, if you have trouble digesting conventional milk, this type of dairy is more easily digestible for those of us who have this condition. Came to know about this gem during pandemic and couldn't be happier. They have great desserts, ice creams and the new favorite - hot chocolate bombs. The staff is really friendly and polite. We've only done take outs. Definitely want to explore this place more than we have. They are opening a panini station pretty soon and I'm excited to try them out. Bear claw was an interestingly rich flavor. It has chocolate covered cashews in there! Mint chocolate was a mediocre but black cherry was really good. I love their service but I didn't really enjoy the quality of the ice cream. It's a huge quantity but for me, quality matters when it comes to ice cream. The cows who make this ice cream deserve a big smooch. Hell, the people too. This stuff is kingly. They have a really bizarre assortment of Jelly Belly flavors (see photo) but since I was here for frozen desserts, I let this slide. Don't come in here for candy without also buying ice cream. I have been coming to treat street since I was little, and have seen its many changes. Today, I find it to still offer great selection of ice cream as well as amazing hot dogs and delicious sandwiches. However, I believe it is overpriced and we cannot enjoy as often as we would like do to this. Also, in the last few years it seems understaffed, with only one or two people working. The one person has to take orders as well as make food so it can awhile to place your order or get your food. On today's visit they had put candy bins in the middle of the seating section. Needless to say someone knocked one over due to the poor placement and the candy went all over the floor. We all pitched in to help clean up, but a worker said it has happened before. I highly suggest moving these bins or bolting them together so that the bowl is not easily knocked over. read more

Mr. MVP and I needed ice cream tonight. It was an ice cream emergency and we decided Treat Street was the closest place to remedy our problem. I looked them up to confirm their ice cream fit our dietary criteria before we left. Everything looked good so we were out the door. When we walked in the door we immediately knew something was a little off. The teenage girl who greeted us was cheerful, but the coolers where the ice cream was stationed were disgusting. They were filthy, dirty, gross. There was a sticky ice cream film on the glass and a build up of ice at least 2 inches thick covering the entire freezer. On each individual ice cream container a large pile of ice cream had been scooped (it looked like an old container had been combined with a new container), but the old ice cream was covered in ice crystals. When I turned to tell Mr. MVP that we would not be eating anything from Treat Street I noticed the side of the inside of the cooler which was covered in green and brown ick. Truly revolting. We left Treat Street and went to Water Street Coffee Joint and had the best ice cream sandwiches ever. Treat Street was an epic fail. read more
