My son got 1/2 of a southwest chicken for $8 and I got the two meat combo with ribs and brisket for $21. It came with two sides and I chose to try the baked potato salad which is so good and the green beans cuz I'm trying to get my vegetables during my meals. Everything was great. I ordered from the drive thru on 11/25/2024. The guy who took my order was very please and had excellent customer service. So, the review started at a 5 based on his customer service. I ordered a baked potato w/chopping block meat and peach cobbler. After digging into this food, everything went south. The peach cobbler was so mushy and tasted like it was days old. It didn't even have a peach cobbler flavor, and I've never eaten peach cobbler with mushy crust. It was so mushy as if it had been sitting in water. Whomever made this, needs to use a different recipe or never be allowed to cook peach cobbler again. It was disgusting, respectfully. It's been a couple of years since I have eaten here. I ordered the sliced beef poboy with pickles, onions, jalapenos, and sauce on the side. I also ordered a side of coleslaw and a unsweet tea. For a grand total of $25! I got alot less than I was anticipating. A narrow thin poboy bun. The sliced beef was a little stingy for the price, and the onions, pickles, and jalapenos came in little plastic hand tied bags not on the sandwich itself. The coleslaw and tea were good, but for the total price I paid I was expecting a whole lot more. I will say this the customer service was friendly and fast. read more

First time in Rosenberg. Went to Schulz'e Bar-B-Que. I ordered chopped brisket. They put in on a bun and it was more like eating a Sloppy Joe! They scooped it out of a pan saturated in barbecue sauce. Then they asked if we needed some more barbecue sauce, Heck no! My words were nice. I'm 69 years old and ever chopped beef sandwich I've ever ordered, and that's been hundreds, they chop it up in front of you and place it on a bun. You later add as much barbecue sauce as you need. It had been a very long time since we had visited Schulze. I ordered at the last minute lunch whick included 2 racks of ribs, quarts of potato salad, cole slaw, bbq beans, and desserts. I arrived at the time promised and my order was neatly packed and ready for me. The service was excellent. At home with food was oh, so good. Everything was delicious and the ribs were tender. I am very disappointed! I wasted $15 on a rib plate and the ribs are inedible. I could barely bite into the meat and chewing was next to impossible. The purchase was made after 6pm so I am quite sure someone has already complained yet they are still serving them. If by chance no one has told them the ribs are horrible today, you can look at them and tell they are off. I'm sure cutting them was more difficult too because the meat is like leather. Can't believe this is the first time we've been to Schulze's. It's been here for years! I had heard about how good it was from s couple of friends so we decided to check it out! Not bad. We ordered the combo dinner with the moist brisket and sausage with sides of potato salad and green beans and a chopped Baker. Both very good! You help yourself to fixins and bread and the interior is your traditional southern style. Homey and spacious! The staff is very friendly and the place was full when we stopped by. Obviously a very popular eatery in the Rosenberg area! With all the BBQ places around this was a refreshing change of pace for us and we will definitely be back! I've been coming to Schultze BBQ for over 20 years. This used to be my go to BBQ place because I love their sauce (a sweet Memphis style) and they are close to my parents house. However, I have become less enthusiastic about Schultze over the last few years. My first issue was that their quality and serving sizes had been dwindling but the last straw as the fact that they charged me extra to put BBQ on the side. I did not ask for extra, just that they put the sauce that would have been on the sandwich anyways in a small container in the to go bag so that my sandwich was not soggy when I got home. Goodbye Schultze, I'm going to Swinging door Side note: the new buttered brioche buns are nice in theory but all I could taste was the bun. Great ribs and brisket. Came during lunch and even though they were busy the service was fast and the employees friendly. The baked potato salad is very tasty and this is the best fried okra I've had in a long time. Definitely worth the visit and I'll be back. They have a secondary dining room with large tables that seat up to eight people. So a good place for groups. Also, it's so nice that they serve food on plates and have metal utensils. Let me start this review with a lil back ground as to why I stopped in at this joint. We just got back home the day before from visiting my wife's hometown of Jackson, MS and I was still yearning for some more of that great BBQ my brother-in-law had smoked on Saturday night. This was my first time here so I wasn't sure what to order (translation - what was good) so I tried three of my favorite BBQ items....chicken, sausage, ribs, and brisket. For the sides I had the potato salad and fried okra. Potato salad was surprisingly good and the fried okra was okay. Chicken was done perfectly with light seasoning and nice hint of smoke flavor. Ribs and brisket were very good with nice bark and pink smoke ring. Tasted as good as they looked. The sausage was okay. I got the sauce on the side and was glad I did. Sauce had a tad to much of vinegar and didn't seem to compliment any one of the meats flavor profiles. Didn't really matter though because none of the meats really needed any sauce although the ribs did have a lil bit on them already. If it's the same sauce then it definitely tastes better after being caramelized on the grill. All in all it satisfied a craving, but I think my brother-in-law has them beat. This is my go to BBQ place in town. I'm originally from Houston and before moving here, I thought nothing could top Rudys. Boy was I wrong! I come here maybe once every 2 weeks..or less! My order is the same every time, maybe I'll switch it up and get a baked potato. We always get the sausage, moist brisket, turkey and ribs with a side of baked potato salad (seriously heaven!) and green beans. I've had other places but in my opinion nothing compares. Everything is always so juicy! And they have the BEST BBQ sauce! It compliments the food really nicely. My family went last night - party of 9 plus 2 kids. The food was good but nothing over the top. We had: chicken, turkey, ribs, sausage, and brisket. For sides, we had baked potato salad, fries, okra, corn, cole slaw, and cucumber salad. All of the food was good. No complaints but nothing outstanding either. What annoyed me was we spent a lot of money yet the wouldn't give us the plates you see in the pics. We were given tiny oval shaped side plates. They also wouldn't give us BBQ sauce to go when we were packing up to leave with leftovers. We were told we had to buy a styrofoam container of sauce. Also it's a completely no frills place so you have to get everything yourself - water, silverware, napkins, etc. I'd get their food to go but probably wouldn't eat inside again. read more

I enjoyed my meal at this local BBQ joint! The interior is very "traditional Texan" and the space can accommodate large groups. The two meat platter was enough to make me full with a little bit of leftovers. I chose the sausage (a must for me) and their brisket. Their brisket was very soft and juicy. However, next time I'll get the sauce on the side instead of poured over... maybe it's a psychological thing but it seems you get more sauce if you ask for it on the side! For sides, the fried okra didn't disappoint. The mac and cheese was okay; got the job done but not as good as Killen's. I was in Rosenberg exploring with my sister when we ran across Schulze's Bar-B-Que, a family owned restaurant. Oh how happy this restaurant has made us since we found. Don't be put off with a line when you walk in. It's very popular, worth the small wait, and easy to get in/out in an hour or less. All the meats are prepared in house, most of their veggies and salads, and the bread is homemade. And bussers are constantly clearing tables. You enter into a large room filled with light wood tables and chairs, barn siding walls, indirect lighting, wonderful air conditioning and a brightly lit hot table. With the number and sizes of tables practically any large group can be accommodated by simply pushing tables together. I'd call ahead if you have an extremely large group. When you walk in bear to the right, grab a tray and check out the menu board. Then proceed to the cafeteria style heat table where you will be served whatever you desire. The prices are so affordable where sandwiches average $5, with the priciest dinner at $13.95 (3 meats + 2 sides + bread) down to an individual one meat dinner ranging from $8.25 (chicken) to $10.95 (ribs). We ordered the Deluxe Dinner ($13.95) which includes THREE meats, and two sides, pickles, peppers & onion bar and homemade bread. ALL of their meats are phenomenal, from the sausages, sliced beef, pork ribs, chicken, turkey, brisket, (OH, the BRISKET w/hot BBQ sauce) to my dad's favorite, the tender smoked ham & black-eyed pea salad. The meats are prepared in house and sliced right in front of you. You're drooling in a matter of seconds. The steam table has all the delicious hot or cold sides to round out any meat dinner or sandwich you choose. My personal favorite is their okra which is honestly the best I've had in such a long time. The buttered potatoes melt in your mouth and of course, the baked potato is a perfect side. Being from California, and not knowing anything about TX BBQ, I asked the hotel clerk for recommendations for good BBQ. She said she always goes here. When my friends and I, our party of nine found the place, we were amused and excited about the drive-thru!! Anyhow, the journey inside was wonderfully accompanied by the aroma of sweet, juicy (fill-in-the-blank with your meat of choice here), smothered with BBQ sauce! Oh wow, THAT was what a BBQ house should smell like!! They had wonderful fixings to choose from. AND I'm glad that they had white meat options, as well, as I like to eat BBQ responsibly (we had a wedding reception to go to later that evening!). Beef Brisket - It looked so good and tender! My friends seemed to enjoy it. Turkey Breast Meat - Glad they had it! My white meat! Not too dry, either! I don't know, everything tastes good slathered and dripping with BBQ sauce, lol Ribs - Yummy!! But I'd still have to compare to Phil's BBQ back in SD, and say that their beefy ribs are way more tender, and better sized. Sausage - Looked really good, but no one ordered that. FRIED OKRA - OMG!!! The best I've ever had!! Crisp, crunchy, the okra wasnt soggy, and it didn't taste greasy! BAKED POTATO SALAD DELUXE - Way better than the regular potato salad, I had a taste of both! Cucumber salad - reminds me of the Asian pickled veggie salad we have. It was good, and gives you a place to not feel so guilty about eating BBQ =) The piece of bread they give you with your two-meat combo is so soft and dense, the way every perfect piece of bread should be. AND they let you have your choice of wheat bread on the side, at no extra charge, if you like =) Besides the register breaking down, and making us wait for 20 minutes, then having us pay at the end, I'm pretty satisfied with my experience! I was planning to have a combo dinner like I did last time but my friends all convinced me to get a deluxe otherwise I wasn't man enough lol. So I did. The pork ribs was tender and smoother than smooth can be. The sliced beef was great texture and the sauce just made it even better. The smoked sausage was one of the best sausages I've ever had. I couldn't just choose one meat as my favorite. I should've substituted one of my meats with chicken just to have more of a variety. The macaroni and cheese was alright, I was already full overall for me to enjoy it. The baked potato salad was the best side dish of any thing I've ever placed into my mouth. I wish I just had two of those. There's just something so buttery and addiciting about Schuzle's baked potato salad. The verdict: Smoked sausage: 4.5/5 stars. When driving up, Schulze's doesn't seem visually pleasing. However, I was invited to eat there and was pleasantly surprised. The bbq was pretty good, the people were friendly, and the environment was better than expected. The brisket, ribs, and sausage were standard - they were as good as any other bbq joint. The moist brisket had good smoke and flavorful rub; I don't like the lean part, but my inviter said it was good. The sausage was also tasty. The ribs were cooked the right amount with good seasonings. No sauce was necessary even though they had warm sauce available. My favorite meat though was the pork belly. It's not on the paper menu so you might need to ask about it. Some people don't like pork belly bc it's too fatty, but if you do, this is one of a few bbq places that serves it. I thought it was great. The sides were also standard (as defined above). The fried okra was a different but good side. The Mac and cheese was good too. But the best side was the baked potato salad. That dish is amazing and causes me to want to come back. Imagine that, a side dish that causes you to want to return to bbq place. Food is just gross, definitely not coming here for BBQ ever again. The green beans taste like they have been sitting in the can for days. They literally taste like an aluminum can! The fried okra had no salt, no seasoning, no flavor at all. Crispy ... but that's all. The chicken was tender but that's it... that's literally all I can say about the chicken. The water tastes like my dog drooled in it first. And the BBQ sauce tasted like they put too much vinegar in it. McDonald's has better BBQ sauce. I'm just shocked because I heard this place was good, but that was a full out lie. Not worth my money or time. I went through the drive-through last night, I ordered 3 Sliced beef sandwiches. When I got home one of the sandwiches didn't have any meat in it, it was just the bun in a wrapper. I called them to let them know about my sandwich. I was told there is a sign that reads to check order before leaving. I saw 3 sandwiches so didn't think anything about it.
