My family and I have visited Truboy BBQ several times now, and every experience has been a pleasure. The restaurant is always clean, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the owner is extremely kind and down to earth. They also have a nice dine-in setup with tables and a lounge area, which makes it comfortable to sit and enjoy your meal. So far, everything we've tried has been delicious--the brisket smash burger , chopped brisket melt, and different bowl variations have all been excellent. Our order has never been wrong, which I really appreciate. Because I'm me lol, I asked, and the owner let me attempt to create something. I tried chopped brisket and cheese on my fries, but something was missing. I think if I paired it with their smash burger sauce and caramelized onions, it would be (I don't even like onions like that, but they were so delicious). We've also tried the BBQ brisket egg rolls and tamales from their frozen section, and those have been just as enjoyable. But lemme tell you if you haven't ordered from these guys you are quite frankly missing out. If you have had brisket overload and you are sick of it we are in the same boat, trust! BUT this is not dry, or overly greasy, not going to make you sick because of all the fat. I stopped by TruBoy on a whim while I was in the area, and I'm so glad I did. What I thought would be a quick bite turned into such a cool experience. The place doubles as a mini specialty store with unique products from around the world, which I wasn't expecting at all. The owner was working the cashier and couldn't have been nicer--super helpful, welcoming, and genuinely kind, which made the visit even better. I ordered the brisket sandwich, and wow... it was phenomenal. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the bun was so fresh and delicious. But the standout for me was the slice of corn they put inside--it was unbelievably good. Honestly, I'd go back just to order a whole side of that. I recently came here craving bbq. I was expecting like a bbq joint where you could order a 3 meat plate with sides. This is not that kind of place. It's super clean and they have the marketing down. As far as the food options it's semi limited but I tried their double brisket smash burger. It was delicious. Imagine chopped beef brisket but instead of it just being put on a sandwich it's smashed so you get a good crust. Then covered with sauce and put on a sweet bun. Yeah... it was good. Definitely not what I was expecting. The cream corn was solid as well. My only complaint was the price. With tax and tips I was well over $20 for basically a sandwich and a side. No fountain drinks so you gotta get a bottled drink. The service was great. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. I'm glad we got a new addition to the neighborhood. read more

Such a cool storefront. Loved all the merch you can buy there. From branded shirts, mugs, golf balls, to grab and go frozen meals. The owner was super friendly and welcoming. The sides were great! The fries were probably my favorite. The only thing that really wasn't to my taste was the chopped brisket. It was a tad on the watery side. Was expending sliced too, so not sure if chopped is the only thing they had. Also wished they sold the traditional barbecue plates too. But there's so many unique food items to try! I demolished with enthusiasm a smash brisket burger. A brisket patty, smoked cheddar cheese, pickles, caramelized onions, sauce..... on a killer bun. Came with a slice of grilled corn, never had it like that before but it sure was good. My wife enjoyed a bowl of mashed taters with chopped brisket on top, it was very tasty. They have lots of goodies that are frozen and wifey picked up a few packages of chicken tamales and one of brisket for our kids. They have a plethora of products for sale, sauces, rubs, gifts, candy. Recently went to @truboybbqmarket. this is a place that I had been looking forward to trying. this is a restaurant and a store with many products like frozen meats, sauces, seasoning, candy and more. Definitely will be back to purchase some of those next time. and now for the food I went with the Chopped Brisket Sandwich with Beef Tallow Fries. My friend and I got Mac n cheese and fries to split. The Mac n cheese was everything you want: cheesy, gooey and flavorful. Even eating it slightly cold, we said it tasted like extra cheesy goldfish (which we like!). The fries are perfectly seasoned and crispy. I was able to sample a few things off the menu at an event, and I had to come back to get them again! I got the pulled chicken paratha combo with mac and cheese and a large order of fries. Everything was so so good. The fries stayed crispy the whole time I sat here and ate my meal. They didn't get soggy after cooling down, and they were well seasoned. The pulled chicken paratha was super flavorful. The chicken was soft and tender, the slaw was crunchy, and the sauce was sweet with a slightly spicy kick. The Mac and cheese was a creamy dream lol I'm so full, and I'm excited to eat my leftovers when I get home. The staff was really nice, the place is super clean, they play country musics greatest hits while you dine, and the owner came and checked on me twice to make sure things were all good. Super friendly and helpful! They have a nice selection of merch and treats to gift or keep for yourself lol and I'm seriously considering buying one of their smoked turkey breasts for Christmas dinner this year. I ordered thru UberEats and just finished my food. Here is my take on the food : Smoked Mac n Cheese- If you even remotely like Mac and cheese, you need to get this. Rarely do I get a Mac n Cheese I brag about. This one I will brag about. It is so rich and creamy, I am glad it came in a small container. It was AAA+++ Beef Tallow Fries- I was somewhat disappointed upon receiving the fries. The were lukewarm at best, and somewhat soggy. That happens with fries being delivered. I tried them anyways. Lukewarm and soggy or not, these were really great fries. I can only imagine eating them fresh. Don't pass these up!!!! Cheesecake Brownie- It sounds so good if you like with brownies and cheesecake, but it's not good. Instead, it is great. Perfect dessert. I loved it. Chopped brisket sandwich- This was a very good sandwich. I only had 2 minor issues with it. It could have used more meat for the money, still not bad d though. The other issue was that it was very light on the sauce. Maybe they do that on delivery orders so the bun doesn't get soggy. If that's the case, put the BBQ sauce in a small container on the side. Will I eat the food again? You bet. In fact I may have to actually go there and eat this weekend. Delivery is worth it, but the food deserves to be eaten on site. read more

I went with family at 820pm and no one came to the counter for several minutes. All the employees saw us walk in and make eye contact but then ignore us which I thought was strange but I let it be. When someone finally came to the counter, I said hello and the employee/owner seemed frustrated as they were busy potentially trying to wrap up and close. If that's the case they should just close when they want to and turn their open sign off. The body language, lack of respect and tone of the response completely threw me off and I decided to take my business elsewhere. I will never spend a single penny here and I am sure they will go out of business with this kind of treatment to customers. Good luck though, highly recommend customer service training. read more

I decided to try the restaurant after reading an article in the Houston Chronicle. We had the brisket sandwich, and it was very good. I will try the chicken version on our next visit. The restaurant is a combination of dine-in, takeout and grocery store. We ran into the owner, great guy, and we chatted for a while. It's very good. Got the sampler platter, and as far as quality goes, it's really top notch. Compares favorably with Pinkertons for Halal Brisket. The one star knock is for one main reason, the ribs are wildly expensive at $120. You can get 4-5 pounds of Wagyu ribs for $60, so I'm not sure how it gets that high.
