I have used this company in the past and gave Larry a call as I believed I was going to need my garage door replaced. Based on my previous experiences with this company I would trust him implicitly. Unfortunately Schumacher Garage Door doesn't do door replacements but he did give me a referral who I called and they put me on the schedule about a week out. I could have waited but I decided to let my fingers doing the walking on Google and called what I believed was a local garage door company . This company said they could give me a free estimate and be out the same day. A gentleman shows up from another company (not the one I called) saying he subcontracts for the company I originally called. He did not have a card and wouldn't give me his contractors license number. He quickly assessed the situation and says I need two struts as one panel is broken and gives me a price...Kinda sort of - as he says by adding extra weight I might have to change springs and he points out some other items that could be problematic. I already had some red flags popping up so I declined having him do the job. He asks if it's the price, and while that was part of it, I had a feeling the guy was not done with his initial quote. I tell him I'm going to wait and he tells me he drove an hour from Los Angeles to get to me. Well that's not my problem as I thought I was dealing with a local contractor. He leaves and I call Larry back and tell him what happened. He tells me if it's a strut he can take care of it and he'll be here between 8 - 8:30 AM on Monday morning. He's promptly here at 8 and he takes care of my door for 1/5 the cost of of the other guy. It wasn't so much the cost, it was a matter of trust and what I felt was deceptive practices of the other company. Larry is the consummate professional and is honest as the day is long. I would 100% recommend SCHMACHER GARAGE DOOR to service your garage door. Larry (owner) was just here. Very Friendly, Knowlegable, Fast an Honest!!! When your Wayne Dalton Torquemaster Spring (installed by most tract builders) breaks...(and trust me it will)...you'll be better off having it switched out and pay for the Torquemaster conversion to a Regular external spring. Average cost for conversion is $450. My new spring should last 10 years plus and will be much cheaper to repair if and when it does break. Call Larry... he's the BEST choice! read more

He was friendly, he was polite, and he spent the time to walk me through the steps on the phone to diagnose the problem. We recently had a new opener installed (by another company) and have been extremely happy with it. It was a replacement for our older opener that gave up the ghost. Until recently it has been operating as advertised and is very smooth and VERY quiet. The operation is a HUGE difference compared to our old opener. However, the other day when I tried to open our door it barely moved. I was shocked because the opener was brand new. I use Schumacher Garage Door at our other rental properties and continue to be very pleased with their service. Even though my home is not in their service area I called them first to get an idea of what might be my problem before I called the other company that installed my opener. When I called them to question why my new opener failed Larry asked me to take my phone out to the garage to help him diagnose the problem. (Most service companies wouldn't take the time to do this!) My car was stuck in the garage! He said that maybe the problem was not the door opener but likely the door instead so he wanted me to look at some things for him. He had me operate the opener to first see if it would run. It did, but it would only lift the door a few inches. He said the door may be too heavy, indicating that the springs might be worn out or broken. When I looked at the springs above the door, sure enough one was broken! Good call! Although another company has replaced my springs I want to thank Larry for going the extra mile for me. His phone diagnosis was spot-on and I appreciate his expertise! read more

We have used Schumacher for over 8 years and have always been extremely happy. Recently, the large spring broke on our door and we could not even open it manually. I contacted Schumacher and Larry came quickly the same day. I was afraid the entire door would have to replaced since the door appeared (to my unprofessional eye) slightly bowed. However, Larry said the door was fine and all he needed to do was replace the spring. He took measurements, left briefly to purchase the parts and came back and repaired the door. It works like new and the repair cost was more than reasonable! I am pretty confident, had that been almost any other company, they would have insisted the entire door needed to be replaced. This is just one example of many as to why we use Schumacher. Also, many people in our neighborhood use Schumacher as well because they are professional, courteous and their prices are very reasonable. I would give 10 stars if I could! read more
