They have created a very loving, supportive and enriching environment. My daughter is now 2 and knows her numbers, letter and has an expansive vocabulary. She also understands Spanish thanks to their Spanish immersion program. Daycare provides breakfast and lunch and so the parents are only responsible for snacks. Over 2 years now. Every single day Denise greets us with a warm friendly smile. My daughter loves Denise and her assistant Elena as well. She has learned so much in the last 2 years, including Spanish. She knows many words in Spanish and can understand fluently. And the very best part - lunch is included!! As a first time mom I was nervous about starting my daughter in daycare at 5 months old. Denise and her assistant Elena made the transition very easy. I specifically liked that the infants played separately from the older toddlers until she was of age. Denise's home has a great layout with plenty of space for the kids to play. Unlike other daycares I toured, the babies play indoors for most of the day and have set times when they go outside in the backyard which includes shade. Also, a huge plus is that Denise has a full time assistant which makes the ratio better than any I've toured. Many other daycares only have one provider or someone who helps out for only a few hours. Denise is very active herself and has great energy with the kids. She cooks very healthy meals and even inspired me to start cooking with more plant-based protein. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures from their Halloween party next week! My two-year-old loves Schusterland Daycare! She has been attending for over a year and I am amazed at how far she has come with her speech and confidence under Denise (and her assistant Elana's) care. My daughter has been going here for about 8 months now and we couldn't be happier. She is extremely accommodating of mine and my husband's changing schedule, even extending hours for us if need be. She is very open with us, keeping us updated on the things my daughter has done during the day and she keeps a calendar of activities in clear view so we know what she is doing everyday. She also has an open door policy, so if you ever want to check on your child during the day you can. She gets us parents as involved as possible with family outings every couple of months allowing us to see all the kids in daycare as well as meet all the other parents. Don't listen to that nasty review. Every daycare charges you for holidays, it's standard practice. My baby is well loved by everyone there. Denise has been wonderfully accommodating of my changing employment. I had to stop for awhile and now my baby goes once to a few days a week. Denise and Elaina took great care of my little one from 4 months to 9 months (only left because we moved across town). They are so nurturing, and had such a positive influence on her development! We couldn't get her to take good naps until she started going to schusterland, and within weeks she slept great at the same time every day, even when home with us on weekends. Then when she started solid food, we couldn't for the life of us figure out how to teach her to use a spoon, but after a week of bringing food to Denise, our baby was a pro! Denise would text her pictures in Halloween costumes in October and Santa outfits at Christmas - very cute. Every morning when I dropped her off she saw Denise or Elaina and smiled really big, which is to me one of the best ways to know how your child is treated when you're not there to see. I'm going to start by providing you with Schusterlands facility number because that allows you to search the daycare on the California department of social services website and see copies of licensing violation citations. I want to be clear that this is not about my personal feelings towards anyone in particular. This about the quality of care provided. This is not a safe daycare. I have filed a detailed complaint and originally wanted to wait until that was investigated before posting this but since I've taken my son out she'll surely be looking for more children and I would hate someone to subject their child to this place based on the current reviews. I'm providing this because despite being legally required to post information about these citations and notify ALL parents about these violations and citations Denise will not do so. After licensing visited in April Denise mentioned it in passing only to complain that they had been so detailed and to laugh it off as just a small fine. She never posted anything or provided anything. All childcare facilities (doesn't matter if it's a home daycare or a big center) are legally required to allow parents or guardians to enter during business hours. I asked if I could step inside and Elena told me no but that I could give her my child and wait outside for denise. I told her it's illegal to deny me entry and she replied that she didn't understand what I was saying. I took my child to my car and called Denise to inform her of what had happened. Denise told me that I was welcome to come back at specific times for a short while but that I could not come in while dropping off or just drop in and attempted to justify this ludicrous statement by saying that there's too many kids and too much activity to accommodate have parents inside. Take note: when you drop off you'll be told to hand your child over at the door. When you pick up you'll hear the mad dash to check which parent has arrived then the scramble to bring only your child to the door, your child is then handed out to you with the same statement every single day "he ate well, he slept well, he had a great day". No details beyond that, nothing specific to your child or information about what actually transpired during the day. This includes injuries. My son had a huge bump and scraping on his head after my husband picked him up one day. I asked about it the next morning but no information was given at pick up. Note the pictures that are posted. Some by Denise but of the old facility location, not the current location. Some by parents from the parents from previous events or the old location. One picture of a little girl at the door of the current location. Reason being of course that that mom hands off and picks up at the door. She never makes it past that door. Our daughter attended Schusterland Daycare for over 3 years since she was 9 months old. Our daughter has graduated the daycare about a month ago. We did a lot of research and visits when we looked for daycare providers. And we liked Denise, the owner, immediately as she was very articulate and accommodating. She was a preschool teacher in Mexico, and I believe that she's now completed her preschool teaching program here. This daycare was the ideal place for our daughter as it provides an intimate, house-setting environment. As full-time working parents, we were so thankful for Denise and her staff, because we knew that our daughter was getting lots of love and hugs from them. For babies and toddlers, the covered outside play area was great. Denise is not only a loving, caring person, but she's also a great teacher. Our daughter has learned a lot (colors, letters, numbers, shapes, songs, dance, etc. in English and Spanish). Our daughter now speaks, understands, and sings in English and Spanish very well. Also, our daughter used to bring artwork almost every other day. Other Likes: 1) Schusterland provides breakfast and lunch. 2) Flexible on clothes: some daycares and preschools forbid children from wearing white or nice clothes, but Schusterland doesn't. 3) Seasonal Events and Excursions: Our family loved the pumpkin patch trips and Christmas parties. 4) Great group of Kids: They get along well. Denise and her staff supervise the kids very well. Schusterland Daycare was the perfect second home for our daughter. Some remarks on negative reviews: As for the facility on Regent St., it went through several changes and at one point, the infant area was small in January 2015, but it is no longer the case. The kids have a new room to play. The gate is, of course, locked when kids play outside. And yes, Denise charges fees during her vacation and national holidays even if you withdraw your child before her vacation. This is a standard practice among daycare providers. Schusterland Daycare's contract is straightforward. Denise has raised her fee only once in the past 3 years, if not longer. read more

Very unprofessional daycare, Denise was very rude and arrogant with my wife. The first day we left our kid for 3 hours only and he had a lot of rashes, he never had rashes before for the last 1 year. Denise told my wife all the kids here use rash cream and its normal. She also told that if you are not happy you can look for another day care. Second day my wife went to pick up the kid, he was having another child's pacifier and also wearing another kids socks. She complained to Denise and she told her that she can't do anything because there are so many kids. My wife saw another kid who was in isolation and had fallen down and there was no one to help her out, and then the day care employee is asking my wife what happened to the kid. You can just imagine how well is this daycare run. Lastly on the third day we went to pick up the stuff for the baby, Denise she charged us the full $300 dollars even our kid just went there for 2 days. My daughter,Abbey, attended Schusterland Daycare from 6 months until 14 months. We loved that our daughter was always happy at drop off and pick up. I handled pick up and I was shown her "schedule" for the day: when she ate (included ounces for milk), times and naps, and number diaper changes. We chose to do Baby Led weaning with her(you don't feed purees) and Denise was on board to learn about the process so we could continue when it was time for Abbey to start solids. It was easy to see in the interaction with our daughter and the other children how much Denise, Elena, and the other assistants love working with children. Our 15 month old has gone to Schusterland for almost a year now, and we couldn't be happier. My son started at Schusterland at the location near Tito's Tacos when he was eight months old. I was so nervous leaving him because I had been home with him his entire life but Franklin and his lovely staff made me feel at ease. The daycare isn't fancy but the teachers are very loving and my son always loved going. He was always fed, clean and taken care of. I wish I would have done a better research. Please please everyone read over your contract completely. In the contract it said the Schusterland daycare are allow to change their fees on you whenever they like. Denise told me I still need to pay her for anytime my child don't attend her daycare. Even when she close her daycare for any holidays and when they go on vacation I still owe her. She is absolutely money hungry. She stole $300 from me and said my child can not come back unless I pay more because she now has new parents that she is charging more. Well that is what I get for looking for a daycare on craigslist. She is constantly posting her add on craigslist. My child was always unhappy going to Denise daycare. My child had a deep nail scratch on arm. Yes! I do examine my child every time I pick my child up from Schusterland daycare. My child went there for 6weeks.
