Also notable was Cheri, who helped out up front as well for the care of patients in the back. That all being said, the overall office's professionalism and utmost care of patients has drastically changed for the worse with the new additional staff that was brought in. I was unknowingly assigned to Dr Pulcheri. She seemed professional at first but had many issues from prescriptions not being filled correctly when requested, to months of unavailability to see me and falsifying medical records from teladoc calls. I tried my best to accommodate her derelict of job duties but to no success. I even tried to get the new receptionist Natalie, who was hired after Wilson, to help facilitate my health needs. At first it seemed like she could handle the fast paced and demanding position of answering phones. but that was short lived. She quickly became unprofessional and contentious on the phone. She would over talk me, cut me off in mid speech and wouldn't relay my messages to Dr Pulcheri. This went on for the past year. I had to ultimately make the hard decision to leave the East Medical Practice. No ill will towards Dr Lusky or others at the practice not mentioned in my review. I just can't continue arguing with an unsuited receptionist and a doctor who seems more concerned about her travel plans and personal obligations ( as she would tell me when I visited ) than of her patients, leaving them with no medical care or alternative support.

Dr. Abroon has all the qualities that are important to me in building a healthy doctor/patient relationship! At the top of my list is that Dr. Abroon is a good listener. He never rushes my appointment and always addresses my concerns, thoughts, opinions and viewpoint. For example, Dr. Abroon will take the time to read an article I clipped from a health newsletter on a subject I felt was pertinent to my care. Dr. Abroon is very knowledgeable, concerned for my well-being, will make referrals when necessary and follow up on my reports. Dr. Abroon is empathetic, compassionate and caring. The staff is always cheerful, efficient and polite. There are times I forget to mention something at my appointment and get upset with myself. But, I feel comfortable calling the office when I get home. I know that Dr. Abroon will return my call and with his calming voice say, "Alice, how are you? How can I help you?" These are the qualities that are important to me!

Here is my experience: I'll start by saying that the staff were friendly and professional, but that is the extent of the positivity here. I have in-network insurance, early 30's, low risk for heart issues and, by choice, just underwent a full ECG and heart stress test with a licensed cardiologist/heart doctor specialist about 6 months ago. 40+ minute wait. Dr. Abroon is NOT a cardiologist. He is a PCP. Yet he insisted, even after I told him and his staff that I just did a fulsome heart exam with a cardiologist, that (1) I pay $250 out of pocket UNLESS (2) they administer an EKG at the start of the visit without having assessed symptoms or risks or heart issues. His staff conveyed that he does an EKG on all his patients, which is medically unnecessary according to a number of medical authorities (see, for example, https://www.aafp.org/family-physician/patient-care/clinical-recommendations/all-clinical-recommendations/cw-ekg.html). Could I have opted to pay $47 to move forward with his EKG? Sure. But on principle this is very clearly a very wrong thing to do. It is not ethical to push an unnecessary medical exam that is costly for an insurance company so he can receive pure financial gain, and again, what's worse is that when I declined the EKG, he gave me the ultimatum that he would otherwise charge me a whopping $250 out of pocket. After I raised all these issues with Dr Abroon, he declined to proceed with our visit. Dr. Abroon's practice is patently unethical, and calls to question whether he has tendencies to conduct his practice this way more broadly. I encourage you to avoid this place. There are plenty of providers in the city that are upstanding.

I was referred to Dr. Schulman after years of searching for a specialist who could treat my temple…read moreveins. While several doctors told me facial veins were very tricky to remove, one prominent NYC plastic surgeon gave me Dr. Lee Schulman's name. I called the center that same day, and the receptionist scheduled me in for a Thursday later that month. She was very informative and helpful, explaining how and when insurance might apply and the steps involved in treatment. I was nervous the day of my appointment, but as soon as it met Dr. Schulman and his kind staff, I was out at ease. After discussing my medical history and examining me, Dr. Schulman suggested a treatment plan. I was fully on board. After using charm and wit to put me at ease, Dr. Schulman gently injected the pesky temple veins that had plagued me for years. Within a few minutes they began to disappear. During the same appointment, he also treated my feet and ankles which had developed many unsightly veins after years of running, sports, and working out. The process was virtually painless, it wasn't terrifying, and I was back to my regular routine (and workout!) the very next day. Other than a tiny bruise by my right eye, there were no noticeable signs I'd done anything to my face. Honestly, I couldn't believe how easy the process was - and I wished I'd found Dr. Schulman sooner. Fast forward to two weeks after my second treatment, and I'm now treating the back of my calves and knees. I'll be seeing Dr. Schulman regularly until my legs are free of any noticeable large veins. Not only is this cosmetic, but my legs no longer feel heavy after workouts or long days on my legs. I've also read that proactive treatment is key to addressing varicose vein complications later in life. I could not recommend Dr. Schulman and his NYC leg vein treatment center more highly.

My husband was involved in a horrible incident while visiting New Orleans. He was out with friends…read morewhen a shooting occurred not far from them and he was knocked down during the stampede of panicked people. He was thrown down and landed hard on his shoulder. The ER down there told him his shoulder was broken and he should see an orthopedist right away as he would need surgery. Our GP recommended Dr. Cleeman and the amazing receptionist,Toni, in the Manhattan Ortho Astoria office was able to fit us in a couple days later. X-rays confirmed the shoulder was not only broken but it was shattered! Dr Cleeman said it was one of the worst cases like this he had ever seen. The ball was literally flipped over from the socket joint and was hanging upside down. YIKES. Rather than replacing the entire shoulder, most likely requiring future surgeries for upkeep, Dr. Cleeman felt he could repair the bones and put Humpty Dumpty back together again. And a couple days later, he did just that! After a very successful four hour surgery and a couple hours in recovery, hubs was home on the couch! At his follow up appointment a couple weeks later, he could already move the shoulder a bit and was recovering well. Dr Cleeman removed the bandages and I couldn't believe what we saw. What I forgot to mention earlier is that my husband has a half sleeve tattoo that goes up over his shoulder. It is very special to us as it has the US and Icelandic flags intertwined with a compass representing our paths in life that led us to each other (I am from Iceland originally). We had already accepted the fact that the tattoo would have to be cut for the surgery and Dr. Cleeman told us that the incision would go directly through the center of the Icelandic flag. But when he took off those bandages, we could hardly even tell where the incision had been made! Partly due to the glue they use now rather than exterior stitches, but mostly due to the fact that Dr Cleeman is a true artist and moved the incision place over a bit. He said putting the tattoo back together took almost as long as putting the shoulder back together but he he knew it was important to us. WOW! I literally had tears in my eyes. What an incredibly awesome and unexpected surprise!! It's about three months post surgery now and my husband is recovering so well and we couldn't be happier! Everything about our experience with Manhattan Ortho has been great! Toni has always been responsive and so helpful every time we have called and needed anything. They are both such caring people and I am so thrilled to be able to recommend them to anyone looking for an Orthopedist!!

Medical care: I saw Dr. Duarte for foot pain. First time i saw him, he was very distracted and answered his personal phone. Then, he sent me for an MRI. When I went back the second time to review the MRI results, he was over an hour late to our appointment and said "yeah I have other patients". Upon glimpsing over the MRI, he said "you have dead bone in your big toe". He advised me to stop running, to stop wearing high heels and stop doing anything that caused me pain etc. and offered to go over shoes I wear with me to ensure comfort. When I asked for physical therapy to regain movement in my toe, he said "I don't prescribe that when the bone has atrophied like that". At 32 years old, limiting me in this way led me to get a second opinion. The second doctor identified the issue and many months later, I'm doing PT to address it. I have since regained mobility in my big toe and can enjoy sports again. Approval for an MRI: I called 4 times so someone would get back to me and left multiple voicemails when following the right IVR process. I eventually selected a different number, got to a person who said "oh we never check that voicemail". Billing: of course, several months after I saw Dr. Duarte, I find out they didn't bill my insurance correctly so I "owed" a $400+ bill. All in all, with the exception of one person who cared about the billing issue, I wouldn't recommend any aspect of this practice and definitely not the doctor who showed such indifference to his patient's problem.
