This place has been here for so many years. I came here to pick up some chocolate gifts (40) and I am not sure why I have never been here before. Not far from my house. You walk into a small showroom filled (really filled) with chocolate and that's what you smell... lots and lots of chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate! There is a serious 'Yum' here and that's just from the smell. They have and enormous supply of every type of chocolate you could ever wish for, and plenty of marshmallow candies. That seem to be their signature piece here. The ones I had was incredible. I am dealing with the owner/candymaker, Stan. It's really hard to make a decision when you have so much to select from but he spent a lot of time guiding me to make the wisest decision. I am going with the special chocolate marshmallows and some small candies. Looks like I will be making this a regular stop on my day's activities. This place has been here for many years. I'm not sure why I never tried it, but I did today. You walk in and the fragrance is intoxicating. Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate! Delicious chocolate! Yum. They have every type of chocolate you could ever want, all flavors of marshmallow candies. I've never heard of pistachio or banana marshmallow! Right now they have so many Easter chocolates to choose from. It's really hard to make a decision! We purchased some marshmallows for home and an assortment of dark chocolates as a gift. The dark chocolate marzipan bars are the best in the world here and insanely fresh. I also love their marzipan individual dark chocolates if I can't get the bars. I have yet to find any place anywhere else on earth that has as good of marzipan as they do. I also enjoy the dark chocolate covered raisins. read more

This is a delightful chocolate shop. The prices are a little high, but it is worth it, because the quality is fantastic. There is a great variety of chocolate by the pound. I particularly love their marzipan, but also delicious are the chocolate covered oreos. They make a delightful variety of seasonal chocolates. Easter, Valentines, Mother's day... they got you! It is located in a small strip with plenty of parking, and they limit customers to four at a time for pandemic times. read more

I will never patronize schwartz ever again. I went there with my two children during the height of covid paranoia. The person at the desk told me to leave one of my little children (4 and 6) outside because there can only be two people in the store at one time. Never mind that i explained to the person at the counter that my 6 year old is on the spectrum and can not be unsupervised outside. I have not frequented this business since and I am writing this review now because a friend just asked me about his business which reminded me about the incident. 3.5 for Schwartz Chocolates. Yeah I said it...a 3.5. Why? Because I hate to say it but their chocolate is not as good as my beloved Sayville Chocolatier. There are certain things I usually get from Sayville Chocolatier that are my staples. Such as mixed milk and dark chocolate Jordan crackers. Can barely taste the Jordan crackers here because they have such a ridiculously thick layer of chocolate on them that it's almost sickening. Their dark chocolate orange peel was lacking... butttttttttttttt. The only thing that Schwartz has Sayville beat by is their Marzipan bars. Dark chocolate covered Marzipan bars. In Sayville I get dark chocolate Marzipan... at best it's a two biter, sometimes even one but this.. this is something that dreams are made of if you like Marzipan. I will fight you in a bull ring if you take the last one while I'm there. Maybe not.. but I will be extremely disappointed and I will give you dirty looks to the point where you feel uncomfortable and you will reluctantly give me your Marzipan bar while you walk away crying. Thats how serious I am about their Dark Chocolate Marzipan bars... everything else I'd leave in the dust. If you need a good Chocolatier came out East and be on the South Shore to get to the Sayville Chocolatier. It's WORTH the trip. TRUST ME and BELIEVE ME. While looking for a Secret Santa gift, I found a web article about the crunchmallows. Having no control, I also ordered up the original 8 for myself. I found the website, and found no way to order online, so I went ahead and called. Which was nice, to actually talk with real people. You definitely feel like it's coming from real people, making it a nicer gift to give. My friend who received absolutely love them and had trouble controlling her hubby from inhaling, and told me it was the best gift she had received this Christmas. Gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. I just received my original eight and cracked them open and wow, tasty. The marshmallow is soft and silky and the chocolate is deep, but not too dark... they are also pretty substantial, each piece being a two biter. I loved the assortment with truffles and parlays. My parents sent my favorite chocolate-covered marshmallows to me in camp. As a young woman, I'd stop in for their rocky road chunks. (Not sure they have those anymore.) Now I order online...for myself and for gifts. I've never outgrown Schwarz chocolates, and I never will. read more

I work near the area and stopped in to buy a Valentine's Day gift for my husband on the recommendation of a client. The place is a little hard to find as it's tucked into a shopping center that's not quite visible from the street. The store itself isn't pretty. I actually questioned if I was in the right spot as it looked a little run down on the inside, but I decided to go with it anyway. There was a great selection of items all at different price points, and yes, some is expensive but not higher than prices you would find at any competitor. The service wasn't exactly friendly, but they weren't mean either. Don't expect small talk or lots of smiles, they are just here to give you your chocolate. Now on to what matters: the chocolate was amazing. I had the clerk fill an assorted box of all things caramel (12 pieces in total) and also bought a six pack of dark chocolate covered marshmallows, which apparently are homemade. I For the items, it was around $25. I ate the marshmallows immediately (preggo here) and they were amazing. Probably the best I have ever had. When hubby opened his chocolates, we couldn't stop eating them. Everything tasted fresh and had incredible flavor. I knocked a star off for ambiance and overall vibe, but the chocolate itself is five stars all the way! read more

This store has been beckoning to me for a long time. After having read reviews and a recent article in Newsday, I felt destined to try the delicious marshmallows that have made this establishment famous. The store is conveniently located off Voice Road in Carle Place and there is considerable parking for a weekday afternoon. On the weekends it is abyssmal due to the laser tag center and all the shopping center traffic in this little nook, however it is well worth the hassle to end up with a box of these delicious perfections. I am an avid fan of dark chocolate covered bonbons and a thick coat of chocolate over marshmallows is something of a taste of heaven to me. Schwartz's actually does both and more. My sampling of a one pound box of dark chocolates consisted primarily of fruit dipped, caramel & nuts and marshmallows. Immediately I was drawn to the candied orange dipped in dark chocolate and oh yes, it was a little slice of ultimate satisfaction. It was truly perfect. Not too sweet, just the right amount of chocolate covering it and truly I now feel like I want to go back for more if this. It's absolutely sinfully selfish how much I wanted to try each and every piece of chocolate in the box, but alas I shared. My father, who is not a fan at all of the confectionary food group was smiling, rather beaming over the piece of fruit he had and my mother, a huge fan of chocolate altogether was reaching for more after taking just one bite of a jelly dipped slice. Oh how lucky to be close to this store. I highly recommend it. The people are very much down to earth and the store is small with a window where you can see where the work is done. The service was personal, and it was worth every penny. The thick layer of chocolate over creamy flavorful marshmallow filling was pure pleasure to my mouth. I've never gone to their location, but plan to make the trip. Simply the best marshmallows around. Featured on the food network - and they well deserve it. While very expensive to order online, it is worth the splurge. They claim to have invented the flavored square marshmallow, and they do it exceedingly well. The chunky squares are covered in thick dark chocolate. My favorite is the maple flavored, and the one with the crunchy toffee bottom. Their other candies are also superb. I f you truly adore fine quality chocolate, treat yourself. The boxed chocolate is shipped in an adorable red checkered box that is gift wrapped as well - in red checkered wrapping paper with their logo and a red ribbon (free of charge). I was last at this business several years ago on Easter weekend. I thought it was time I write this review given some of the other ones I have read. I was here the Saturday before Easter. I had a basket full of items and called and texted a few family members to see what type of chocolate they wanted. My parents used to buy Schwartz marshmallows all the time by having them delivered so I was excited to buy lots of treats. The woman behind the counter however began harassing me and even took my basket from me. She accused me of spying and taking pictures. I told her that I was happy to show her my texts which would have shown her the communications to my family. She refused and refused to sell me the chocolate. Her son (I can't remember now which one is the owner and which the manager) came outside (I walked out very upset) and apologized and told me that he knew I wasn't a spy but that he couldn't cross his mother or she would make his life hell. For real? And yes, he is a grown man. I told him that my family had been purchasing their products for years and that I would tell them all of this experience. He apologized again but would not let me back in the store to buy the chocolate. I have never been back Schwartz, my family stopped ordering from them as well and I spread the word to my friends living in and near Carle Place. There is no chocolate good enough to allow oneself to be treated that way. Thankfully I found an amazing chocolate place on Metropolitan Ave in Forest Hills where I now go for great service and great chocolate. read more

I went here with my mom because we had just been to a restaurant nearby. We will never be back. The man behind the counter stared at us the entire time we were there, as if we were going to steal something! We were so turned off by how rude he was that we never bought anything. The chocolatier version of Seinfeld's Soup Nazi! I was sent by a friend with high recommendations. I came in with my two small children. My daughter of course wanted to touch everything. Another mother shoping there quickly whispered that they don't like children touching things and that she had to prep hers before coming in. Understandable. And I got the message again when the woman behind the counter complimented this other woman's well behaved child while suspiciously eyeing mine. It got worse. I explained that I was there to find some chocolates for my husband and had seen a "manly chocolate" package advertised on Etsy featuring chocolate covered bacon, Guinness and Scotch flavored chocolates. Apparently not only do they not do that but it was offensive for me to even ask. The woman, who I took to be an owner, challengd me, asking almost hostily, "what's manly about THAT?!". Um, let's see, dark beer, scotch and bacon, for starters. A younger man t hen came out and assured me that many men like chocolate like I was a crazy person and didn't realize that most people in fact enjoy chocolate. Feeling embarassed and pressured, I grabbed two small wrapped items and handed him my credit card. "Maam, we do not accept credit for purchases under $20" he informed me. I smiled and said "I don't think this is our day, thank you anyway." The whole experience was very bizarre from the whole-in-the-wall location, to the customers following a protocol with regards to children, to the stern woman grilling me on my request to the patronizing cashier. If I was a celebrity I would have thought I was on Punk'd. I sampled a marshmellow, which they are famous for. It was fine, not worth the attitude though. I instead went to a nice shop on 7th Street in Garden City where they not only had a good selection (still no bacon, but whatever) but were warm and friendly and gave the children a cookie. read more

horrible experience.... went there today to pick up a box of candy for my morher in law(she asked me to pick it uo for her) i had never been there and wanted to make sure i had the correct item. an older woman who I think was the owner was so rude and was stating at me the entire time as if I was going to take something then said "im not watching you im just mking sure your not taking pictures" i told her i already did becasue i wanted to send to mother in law to make sure it was the correct item. she was very rude about it. i got the choclate and gave her a nasty look and she goes ohhh i have a no picture policy because somebody tried to copy my store..
