Bought multiple chocolate molds and Merck's candies to make lollipops from here and when it came time to melt the chocolates we were having absolutely no luck. 15 seconds at a time popping the chocolate in and it never melted properly, instead it skipped the liquid stage and turned into a complete styrofoam-like mush (which I placed on a paper plate and took a picture just to get an idea of what I mean). Mind you this is not my first time making lollipops and using colored chocolate melts so it's not like I don't know what I'm doing. We got so frustrated we ended up calling the store and the woman wasn't helpful or apologetic. Basically asking us if we are microwaving it in 15 sec intervals (yes!). Then ultimately said something along the line of oh well sometimes the colored chocolate batches don't have enough oil and won't melt and will need another special ingredient that we sell. Oh you don't have it, oh well. I'm not annoyed that I got bad chocolates, I understand things happen, however, it's the customer service (or lack thereof) that turns me off from such places. I'm made to seem likes it's my fault I should have known that the melting chocolates I bought may not melt? And if this is a problem your chocolates have why not educate your customer upon purchasing and say "hey you might want to purchase this inexpensive additive we sell since our chocolates sometimes do not melt". I would have gladly purchased it at the time but I don't live close to the store and I really feel I as the consumer should have been aware of this well known problem. They won't even accept a return for some excuse they claim regarding the FDA. Ummmm, I don't want to return it so you could resell it to someone, I would like my money back considering your advertised melting chocolates do not do what they are supposed to do! Even the grocery will accept returned food items if bad. So basically no offer to return, no offer to even exchange for a different batch and no call from the owner as I requested from the manager. Nice job. I really wish you would have handled this better but I will not be returning and would not recommend you to others. read more

I've never been so disappointed in a business before. I've been coming here since I was a little girl, about 6 years old.This is where I come to get all my chocolate to make treats for everyone. This year, due to covid I ordered 10lbs of chocolate online to be shipped maybe 4-5 towns over from where the store is located. I understand that shipping can be delayed because of the time of year, but I ordered this shipment in December 6th, and 15 days later it still isn't here when it was supposed to be 3-5 business days. I called the shop today to try and see if I can come in to get a replacement because there was no updates on the shipment and I still hadn't received it. While explaining the situation, the girl that I spoke to on the phone was unreasonable. She said " it is out of my hands, you can come in and buy it again and pick it up in store." Why would I buy something a second time when I never received it the first time? I explained my concern that I wasn't sure how it was packaged when it was mailed out, and the possibility of it being melted depending on where this shipment ended up. The girl verbatim said, "Lol, it's definitely not melted, it's cold outside." I find it disrespectful that she thought my concern was laughable. I know during hard times like this pandemic can put people on edge, but I was just trying to rectify the situation in a simple and just way. I don't think I'll ever be coming back here, and I'll make sure to tell my family and friends as well. read more

I come here every year to get my chocolates. I called to ask what their hours were for today and tomorrow since I work till 7pm. It is a little bit of a hike so I do not want to waste the trip. The lady who answered says hold on and I hear screaming "what time are we open till!?" She eventually comes back and says 6pm. I ask is that for tomorrow also? and she goes "I don't know, as far as I know yes" ...No offense but if you are an employee at ANY establishment you should know your hours of operation. Even if you don't work those hours. I'm sure the hours are stated in the window or on the door to see, no? That is absolutely ridiculous. Worst customer service I ever experienced. Waited on line with my son for 15 minutes listening to the woman behind the counter talking to the customer before me about how the sales were in the store 20 years ago and about where she worked throughout her life. Love this store, They have more things in stock than anyone else. The people are very nice and helpful and the prices are in range with other places. I shop locally to where I live and love the people there as well. They are more into making favors and are within walking distance. After many, many years of supporting this store I will no longer shop there. I am done with the rude and disrespectful staff. The attitude from the clerk's is a turn-off. A question of where a certain product was located resulted in the most arrogant, rude answer. When I asked the clerk why she was so sarcastic, I received a shrug, no eye contact and she went back to her task. I asked to speak to a manager / owner to the cashier. She told me to nobody was available and I could speak to her. I was told "I took it the wrong way." I go out of my way to support local business and I always will. However G.C.K. will never see a penny of my money again. The Chocolate Duck is out of my way, but I will bring my business and my pocketbook (big pocketbook) elsewhere. My daughter went there one night and picked out molds, chocolate, bags and lollipop sticks for an occasion. The woman there measured the bags against the molds and told her they were the correct size for the bags. My daughter came home and my wife and I immediately saw the bags were too large. The store had closed by this time, so I went there the following morning to get the correct size bags. They refused to take them back and I was forced to purchase the correct size bags. The woman told me she gave my daughter a choice of which bags to use and my daughter picked out the wrong one, which I found out was an absolute lie after talking to my daughter. I was not looking for a refund of the lousy $2.00, just an exchange for the correct bags, which the salesgirl picked out. They blamed the mistake on my daughter. I will take my business elsewhere in the future. Whatever you buy there, make sure it's correct, because they won't exchange it, even if they are in the wrong!
