Mixed vegetable salad and ice water.

I LOVE this friendly, pretense-free, neighborhood restaurant! My first "authentic" Viennese meal on my first day in Vienna was über delicious! I will definitely go back before I leave Vienna. And also because I totally forgot to tip the wait staff...have to go back and set things right. The waiters were helpful - but ask if they speak English, because they'll assume you're from Wein. They have English (and other languages) translation of the menu in the back. Super helpful!!! I was seated next to an electrical outlet, and was able to power up my phone, after I respectfully asked, of course!

In the second district is this very popular neighborhood place. It's quite plain-looking, but serves up some great food. -Kürbiscremesuppe mit Bio-Kernöl und gerösteten Kürbiskernen (Cream of pumpkin soup): Delicious. The creamy pumpkin soup has a distinct pumpkin taste and the bits of pumpkin seeds throughout really add flavor and a wonderful crunch. A good filling portion, too. -Rindsuppe mit Grießknockerl (Beef bouillon with semolina dumplings): Perfect, just like what beef bouillon should taste like and the dumpling within is cooked to perfection. -Quiche mit Mangold und Schafskäse, dazu Salat (Swiss Chard and Goat Cheese Quiche with Salad): the quiche was filled perfectly with a nice ratio of Swiss Chard to Goat Cheese. All ingredients were impeccably fresh. -Calamari vom Grill mit Jungzwiebel, Chili, Olivenöl und Reis (Grilled Calamari with spring onions, chili, olive oil & rice): The calamari was grilled nicely, leaving it perfectly tough and chewy. It tasted best when you stuffed the hollow bits with warm rice as it made the fishy taste a bit milder. -Bio-Tafelspitz mit Rösterdäpfel, Schnittlauchsauce, Apfelkren und Wurzelgemüse (boiled beef with Viennese potatoes, chive sauce and apple-horseradish): The Tafelspitz has a nice flavoring but I would have preferred it to have been juicier. The Viennese potatoes though, they were like potato pancakes or VERY crispy hashbrowns and were exquisite. Very crispy and flavorful. FINAL VERDICT: Albeit having to sit in the smoking room, the food was impeccable. All dishes had great flavor, were hearty and the good taste was consistent.

Very good restaurant which both locals and visitors of the city drop by. The schinitzel is very good and the portion is big. There are 2 kinds of schinitzel here:pork or red meat. They taste well. The waitors are very friendly and helpful and much better than other places in Wein. Recommended indeed.

Spaetzel served with a side salad - my sister was in heaven

Went here a couple of times while on a work trip. Was great both times. Enjoyed the boiled beef very much and the schnitzel was good too

My friends got the Schnitzel (she said it was the best she had all trip) and the Erdäpfelgulasch (also a hit).

This place was packed…read morewhen we arrived, as expected since it is one of the most well-known schnitzel spots in Vienna. I was worried this place was over-hyped and more of a place you have to "check off the list" than somewhere you want to eat because of the food. If you have any doubts like I did, forget about them because this was actually the best schnitzel we had on our trip! Their potato salad and tomato salads, also amazing! I love that they had option for their schnitzel - the chicken and original were our favorites! Definitely check this spot out when in Vienna - you won't be disappointed!

I had a reservation at 11:30am and there was already an insane line just to get in. Then once they opened the doors other groups of people completely ignore the line outside and just start rushing in. They're in absolutely no rush to seat you so don't have any hope that they'll let you in early. Once you're seated the service is pretty fast. The schnitzel is quite large and good for sharing. I had the original schnitzel with pork. It was thin and crispy but under seasoned in my opinion. The potato salad was the star for me I could have had one all to myself. It was creamy, a little sweet, and tangy. I also tried the soup with clear beef broth and sliced pancakes. Nothing memorable but a nice clean soup if you're in the mood.

The place was huge inside, bigger than expected from the outside. It was packed with people in a good way and the decor was tasteful and inviting. The wait staff were really friendly and attentive and visited just often enough to make sure we had what we needed. The food was great, and the classic schnitzel was massive but thin enough that it didn't feel overwhelming to eat. I paired it with the potato salad that included greens and both were excellent. If you're getting the schnitzel I suggest the longenberry preserve because the schnitzel itself is on the blander side.

We were seated right away. The inside js a lot more spacious than it looks from outside. As we had dinner in a few hours, we got the pork schnitzel to share with lingoberry sauce, field greens, and grape juice. The schnitzel was lovely- nice thin good meat and crispy breading. It was HUGE! I have never had this vegetable before but it was delicious and the dressing was excellent. I also really enjoyed their grape juice. The staff were very nice and service was quick. This is not a dish I would want to eat every day but I enjoyed the meal.
