Yes, we live in Laveen and 1. We are DESPERATE for some decent cuisine over here 2. HELP 3. WHY? 4. HELP. Anyway, I am not giving this place 5 stars because of any of the above. if I was back in Orange County, oh sorry, the Oooo See, I would do the same thing. And, we even have Thrifty Ice Cream there. I mean, let's be real. The only real ace in the hold for Thrifty is that darn coveted chocolate malted crunch that seems impossible for anyone to recreate. Scooptacular, however, has many many flavors that are great, and, maybe one day, they'll find a way to rival the chocolate malted crunch icon. The interior is adorable, with a cotton candy style color palette. There's even a Disney movie usually playing and some pretty decent seating. I was leveling off some of my ice cream, getting a bit greedy about getting down to my favorite part, the rim of the sugar cone meets the melted treat, yum. The manager came by & said oh is everything ok? & I said oh yes, I just have TOO much ice cream & I want my cone! if that's the worst complaint, well there you go. Scooptacular is such a great local ice cream shop! My kids and I absolutely love the great variety of hand made ice cream flavors... my favorite is the strawberry cheese cake and rocky road. My kids love the play dough and birthday cake flavors. The staff are always extremely friendly and welcoming. The shop always sponsors local activities such as school fairs, Laveen soccer and softball... they are very connected to the community. We also love dinning in as they have a tv with cartoons for the kids. Would highly recommend this amazing local ice cream shop! read more

Everytime I come here this place seems to always be busy with long lines, but the workers are quick and they have a pretty good variety of icecream flavors to choose from. Their website has the flavors they serve so if you're one of those that have anxiety over long line of people waiting on you to choose your ice cream flavor, you can preview yours online. Lol. They have kid tables and chairs inside too for your little ones, but this place isnt big at all, so it can get pretty cramped. I believe this is the only ice cream shop in a 10 mile radius, so it's pretty well known here. read more

The Veen has a great ice cream shop! The reason this is big news is that there really is not anything out in The Veen food wise that is great so having a great ice cream shop is a real coup. Scooptacular (Scoop) has all of the stand byes for ice cream choices but also has some great off the beaten path flavors as well. My favorite is the oatmeal cookie. It is a vanilla base ice cream with some carmel, cookie crumbles, and a few ingredients I can't quite make out. Scoop also has the typical waffle bowls and cones made on the premises. Their shakes are not that special but the ice cream choices makes up for that short coming. Something really cool that Scoop does is that you can rent out the place for birthday parties and the kids get to make their own ice cream. it is actually a service that is reasonably priced. Wow. Like a lot. We drove here from Mesa because of the Yelp reviews and it being featured in the Yelp email, and let me say that it was well worth the drive! My partner thought i was nuts driving all the way to Laveen for ice cream, but after our experience here even she admitted I did good! The owner was there and spent a good 20 minutes getting us to try pretty much every flavour they had. I nearly had a meltdown trying to pick what I wanted. The salted caramel was a perfect blend of sweet and salty, the German chocolate cake was amazing, the red velvet was the next best thing to having the real thing. The sorbet was refreshing and not too sweet. I ended up opting for the Cookie Monster, because it's blue and cotton candy flavoured, and I have a strange affinity for both. My partner went for the strawberry cheesecake and it was just about perfect. By checking in with Yelp we got free upgrades to a waffle cone, and mine was still warm!!! The owner was extremely personable and answered all our questions. He ran back and forth, getting us samples of the flavours they had in the back. He explained why they use Illinois milk instead of Arizona milk (it's interesting... ask him about it!). We sat outside, ate our ice cream and watched as a large group went in... to make their own ice cream! What a perfect, unique date, or something to do for a kid's birthday party. Ok. I have to say that at first sight, I was not excited that I couldn't "make" my own mix-ins. I really was hoping to pick my ice cream flavor and add my mix-ins. This is more of a traditional ice cream store model. However, after scanning the flavors - and realizing it was hot outside and I went there because of this anyway - I decided to buy a pint and take it home to try it out. First - a great option is you can choose two and do a "half and half" pint. This is great to try flavors, and not only that, you get two flavors in one pint! So I chose the Reese's peanut butter and the Chocolate Overload (chocolate base ice cream with fudge brownies, chocolate crunch and fudge). Holy cow! I was impressed by both. The peanut butter was extremely flavorful and the ice cream rich. The Chocolate Overload - the chocolate flavor was intense, the brownies were soft and the chocolate crunch was a pleasant surprise as opposed to chocolate chips - more like a crunch bar. All delicious. The next time I tried the mint variety with Girl Scout thin mints in it. While this was still delicious - I have to say I liked the other two better. Felt like the mint could be a little stronger - or even better, more natural mint. Either way, not a bad option as well. I would definitely go back here. I've only been here once but had a great experience. I tried a couple flavors and took my time to make my choices and the fellow behind the counter was very patient and friendly. I felt like he legitimately wanted to be there. They must take great care of their employees, which is something very important to me. The ice cream was amazing. I personally love the chocolate chip cookie dough because they use whole chocolate chips and the ice cream tastes like the butter/brown sugar cream base off a cookie dough recipe (not just plain vanilla with cookie dough). We come here way too often. We don't live far away, which is terrible for my waist line. The employees working here are awesome. Seriously, the service at most places in Laveen is pretty subpar. The people working here seem genuinely happy! It is so refreshing! Every flavor of ice cream we have tried has been delicious. My personal favorites are Birthday Cake, Cookie Monster, Playdough, Taro and any version of Mint Chip (I think they have had more than one, but grasshopper in the one I remember off hand). The flavors are seasonal and often rotate, they do have staples that are always available too. Ok, ok, it is JUST an ice cream parlor right? What could really be so spectacular about them? COVID-19, that's what! Arizona has been a disaster during this pandemic. People and Businesses think they are invincible. It has been so disappointing to see how poorly it has been handled. HOWEVER, Scooptacular handled the pandemic beautifully. Even before there were government mandates, the shop modified their business and went above and beyond to ensure the safety of their employees and customers, and again, the employees were professional, courteous, and respectful during this time. This place is so great! I stopped in today with my two kids and was very impressed. My son got the shaved ice and my daughter and I got some ice cream. Their shaved ice is the best shaved ice I've ever had! So tasty and unlike other places I've gotten shaved ice, this one never lost its flavor. There were no plain patches of ice and the flavoring was delicious! The Cookie Monster,oatmeal cookie and play dough ice cream were phenomenal! This is probably our favorite local ice cream shop! The people here are so nice! It's usually super packed on weekends. I love that they have a little seating area for kids. It's so cute! The seating area isn't large but we take our scoops to go so that's never an issue for us. For a place that sells ice cream and caters to families with kids, the place is always clean!! You'd think everything would be covered in this sticky layer of melted ice cream and kid germs everywhere but it's surprisingly always spotless. Way to go guys!
