Always wanted to stop and try this place out. It is a good halfway point between Omaha, NE and Milwaukee, WI. Very open layout with lots of televisions so it is a great spot to watch sports. Service is great and prompt. I had the special, smoked brisket sandwich. It was very moist and tasty. I think next time through, I'll try the winds. Great drink selection too! read more

Stopped here on another trip up to Madison. Love this local place. The bartender/waitress knows all the regulars by name, was quick and polite. I decided to get the barnyard burger again without the jalapenos. The burger with the egg is messy but delicious! I highly recommend this place if you're in the area. read more

I've stopped here several times over past couple of months. Nice restaurant and bar on outskirts of Anamosa. Has a pool table and lots of seating. The food is average for bar food but on the pricey side. I had a Cowboy burger that had bacon, cheese and onion strings. It was okay but certainly not worth the $15 price tag. Had to send back the cheese curd appetizer because they were frozen in the center. The service was below par as well. This is a decent place if you want a drink with your burger. read more

Definitely with the try. My husband and I stopped in around 1:30 pm. This place was maybe 1/3 full. Great service from the bartender/server. I got the brisket sandwich that was on special and my husband got the cod sandwich special. Food was hot, brisket was tender and juicy, and the onion rings were awesome. Scooters is a motorcycle bar through and through. The crowd looks rough but there are often kids there too. They have a pool table, darts, video poker a stage for live bands they have often. The food is very good and the craft beer selection is good also. It can be considered dark inside with the limited windows. I do feel comfortable bringing the family but not late into the evening or during a live band. With what I have said it should be obvious the decor is quite casual, jeans, ball cap, overalls and cowboy boots you will see it all. So come out have some fun and relax you will not be disappointed. read more

So if you like tenderloins as big as hour head for 8 bucks, you need to be at Scooters on Thursday nights. Comes with a side of fries, cottage cheese or coleslaw upgrade to onion rings. If you are looking for fried bar food then this is your place. Our group of 25, mixed with children and adults after a tournament, would have overwhelmed most restaurants. Scooters is obviously accustomed to large groups coming in at once. Largely catering to a bikers niche. The large Morton building could be easily overlooked as a restaurant, but this totally works given the biker theme. Inside there are several arcade games, a foosball table, and a pool table. A large fully stocked bar also has a prominent place as soon as you walk in. The waitstaff quickly put tables together to accommodate all of us and we were split amongst three waitresses. All three of them were fantastic....efficient, quick, and friendly. Our drinks were out within minutes of sitting down. Food with 15. I opted for the fried tenderloin, which as expected was generously larger than the bun itself. The fries were crispy and hot. Hubby ordered the meal of the day, brisket sandwich. The brisket was smoked for 13 hours out back, according to our waitress. I can believe it after having a bite. The brisket itself was a little on the fatty side, delicious none-the-less. A family with our group ordered the full size Road Trip Combo Platter. It may be $20, however there was a ton of food! I was a guest at a party of 17 that was held at Scooters Bar and Grill. Our food took over 45 minutes from when we ordered it for it to arrive. When it arrived, it was not what I ordered. I got a philly that the menu stated would have green peppers on it. The peppers were yellow-ish. When I told the server about it, she said they use a pepper medley mix. Why was this not stated on the menu? The menu was very specific. This wasn't a medley of different peppers. This philly was served with yellow-ish peppers (one kind) and they were sweet. I ordered chili as my side. The combination of flavors was not good. I sent my sandwich back and because it took so long to get the first dish, I didn't order anything else to replace it. I was charged for the philly that I didn't eat because you screwed up and put the wrong ingredients in it. I take my ticket to the bar to get the sandwich taken off, and the manager would only give a 50% discount. Really? I still tipped the waitress 34% of my meal. It wasn't her fault, although she did a terrible job at explaining (more like justifying) why I was charged for the sandwich anyway. Seriously, either change the menu to state the ingredients that you actually serve or serve the dishes with the ingredients you state on your menu. Let the patron know when you need to substitute. If you do choose serve something other than the menu states and the customer doesn't like the unexpected combination and doesn't eat it, don't make them pay for it. The customer didn't screw it up!! If you do insist on charging the customer for YOUR mistake, don't use waste management and that the item wasn't made wrong as a reason to charge them anyway. The item was NOT made as stated on the menu and loss due to waste is part of doing business! I was not looking for a free meal. I was not looking to cheat the restaurant. I would have ordered a different item if the first order didn't take so long to begin with and if I could trust that the item on the menu was what I would actually be served. The manager treated me like I was trying to pull a fast one on them!! I will never eat here again and will be sure to share this negative experience and detail these business practices with others. I am NOT HAPPY! read more

Stopped her for some lunch in road trip back home. Hard to miss and always wanted to try. Large open bar setting with plenty of sitting room and parking. No array of tv's but it has a small stage for shows on weekends. Infamous for their burgers which they ground and make themselves so that's recommended. Clean bathrooms with air dryer no towels. Cheap pricing too, if your military, or a Sports fan chances are you'll love this place. read more

I've had the wings before and they were good. The jalapeno bottle caps were tasty too. The service was decent though not as attentive as some other places. The tenderloins - an Iowa favorite - are decent... but I've got favorite places such as in St. Olaf. Locals do enjoy them. Their tenderloins are made in-house. That being said, the food is okay and the prices are on a par with other places. Motorcycle riders will find it welcoming. I can't think of anything overly good or bad to say... This is a nice big place, very open. They usually have good bands on the weekend nights. The bar and drinks are good. The food is good too, but the service leaves something to be desired. Our group of 11 found this place after we was going to stop elsewhere, but they were booked up. It looked pretty busy and had a very friendly atmosphere. We called ahead, so they had tables reserved for us. Seemed decent and we got underway with our drinks. This is where the nightmare began. The soda beverages tasted disgusting. Dr. Pepper and Pepsi both were just foul. It had a terrible smell in the cups. The waitress seemed like she didn't care. We got on with our order. We seriously waited about an hour before we got our appetizers, which some people got a salad and I guess that doesn't count as an appetizer. The mozzarella sticks were actually pretty good. About 45 minutes later, after watching people come in, get served, and halfway through their meals, we finally got our food. STAY AWAY FROM THE FISH SANDWICH!! I probably could have thrown it through their window, and watch it shatter. My girlfriend got the chili cheeseburger, it was okay. One friend got a burger, and the hamburg was well over cooked (asked for medium) and bland. At one time, our waitress walked past us, asking how our food was, and kept on walking. I work in customer service myself, and I have to say, she needs some lessons. I understand that when a place is busy, it gets crazy and the cooks have to work a bit harder and faster, but this place was just unacceptable. We will not be stopping in there again. read more
