They always know my order and allow me to face the day!

Man, I have to give the biggest shout out to these people at Scooters on Burlington. They know my name and my order and are always a light on my way to work! I know it can be cheaper to make coffee at home, but I'm glad to support this business and these people who are also heros! Keep up the great work.

I live down the street and go to this place a couple times a month, usually it's pretty good. Today I got the worst coffee I think I've ever had.. it was supposed to be a pumpkin foam cold brew.. what I got was a milky watery tasting liquid with no ice in it and little foam. It tasted like a drink that has been sitting for a long time. Disappointing to say the least.

This is the Nebraska based Scooters first Kansas City location north of the river. They are a quick coffee fix when traveling down Burlington into or back from downtown. Drive thru only. Friendly baristas.

The biscuit was excellent..soft, moist, and filling on the inside with a lightly crunchy exterior that held everything together without falling apart. The chicken was a little thinner than I expected, but it made up for it with a perfectly crispy breading and great seasoning. Paired with the coleslaw and sauce, every bite had a great mix of spicy, tangy, and creamy flavors that complemented each other really well. Don't skip the potato coins... they were crispy, flavorful, and definitely a great comliment to the sandwich. I also tried the Krazy Berry Troost Juice, which was refreshing and a great match for the sandwich. The food came out fresh, the flavors were on point, and it's easy to see why this place has built such a good reputation. I'll definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu.

I'd recommend getting there early on busy weekends. Maybe some tape over the things that aren't available once they're gone, that way people don't have to keep adjusting their order on the fly. There were some cats that came to share our meal and that was dope. Waffle was good but a half portion was kinda pricey, same with the scrambled eggs. There are no eggs in their breakfast bowls and that's kinda strange, tbh, it needed something more substantive. This area is good for a quick bite but not good enough to make it a meal.

BFD could also stand for Bacon for Dessert after ordering their unique Bacon Flight. For $5 I received 4 large strips of bacon on a skewer: Original, Honey Sriracha, Brown Sugar and Sage, and Peppered. Four great flavors that did not need the side cup of maple syrup for dipping. The brown sugar was the star of the flight. I also had the one biscuit B&G for $6. Possibly the best I've had - thick creamy gravy with plenty of sausage, and covered in bacon crumbles and chives. Best $11 I've spent all month!

You can't go wrong with the food here from girl breakfast, to the plain + simple breakfast sandwich, to the pepperjack burrito, to the market bowl, lunch menu and their many many mouthwatering pastries. And don't forget about the coffee! They have both real mugs and to-go cups. I love their regular drip coffee, cold brew, cappuccinos and lattes. The cafe's interior design is modern, chic and comfortable with a mix of booth and table seating. I can usually find a seat for 2-4 people, groups larger than that may have a hard time finding a seat during peak times like weekend mornings. Seasonally, McLain's offers outdoor seating, too. Best of all, the staff makes you feel right at home - welcoming, friendly, helpful, hardworking and clean. Parking is angled street parking out front. Sometimes I have to walk a bit but never more than a block. Just writing this has me craving McLain's already.

We went there before a Knucklehead's show, which allowed us to just hop down the road conveniently. So don't overlook this if you're headed to the East Bottoms for some live music. While the food was good, this will definitely be a little better ambience with a good crew, soccer game, or weekend. Food was delicious. Pork belly bites were cooked to perfection, fries perfectly crispy, the grilled cheese sandwich was still good even left over the next day!! So, so good. With that said, I took off a star because while it was empty, the bartender was not the friendliest. We were asking about the menu, deciding between choices and he was rolling his eyes and loudly sighing, like we were inconveniencing him. Meanwhile, there were zero people in the other area of the restaurant, and all of the patrons were sitting at the bar. Maybe 6-10 max? There were two of us girls. I'm not gonna say he was hired because of muscles and being good looking... But I'm going to say customer service isn't his forté, rubbed us wrong when excited to try a new place. I absolutely hate including this on reviews. But being a new restaurant on a slow night, I don't like feeling like I'm supposed to profusely apologize for sitting at the bar.

I don't typically post reviews like this, but my recent experience with Chicken N Pickle crossed a…read moreline. The service continues to be inconsistent at best--no patio service, long waits, and a general lack of attentiveness--but what's most frustrating is the latest beverage and menu decision. You can no longer order a single glass of wine. Instead, guests are now forced into purchasing a half bottle as the minimum entry point--starting around $25--for a very limited and underwhelming selection (Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc... and that's about it). No Pinot Grigio, no variety, no flexibility. Just a forced upsell on mediocre wine in a casual, outdoor setting. Let's be clear: You can order a single beer. You can order a single cocktail. But you cannot order a single glass of wine. In 2026, that's not just outdated--it's completely out of touch. This approach eliminates choice, discourages responsible and casual consumption, and frankly alienates a large portion of your customer base. What if someone wants just one glass? What if they want to try two different wines? That experience is gone. And the reasoning doesn't hold up. If this is about waste or throughput, there are countless modern solutions--by-the-glass preservation systems, or even high-quality boxed options like Black Box Wines that maintain freshness without forcing customers into higher spend. This feels less like a thoughtful strategy and more like a blunt, revenue-driven decision that ignores the guest experience entirely. So here's the question for leadership: Who is making these menu and beverage decisions--and how does this align with the kind of experience you claim to offer? Because from a guest perspective, this isn't hospitality. It's restriction. I'd genuinely like to hear a response from the team on this. Until then, this is a complete veto for me.

Let's save that portion for another day. This review is more about the food and vibes, which are pretty good overall. We most recently came here after a day at the Rabbit Hole, and I think it's a great spot for families. The inside is a bit dim, but the food is good and there are tons of things even the pickiest eaters will go for. I went with a diet of a fox and had a 1/4 rotisserie chicken (with southwest seasoning) and two ribs. Wife and I shared some parmesan truffle fries, and all was good. The chicken was the highlight for me, cooked to perfection. The service was very nice and helpful. My girls went up to eye the cake pops shaped like chickens, and shortly after, a server came by and handed me two of them for the girls. Very nice gesture. Overall, a good, crowd-pleasing spot we will return to in NKC, and we like the one out south as well.
