Oak Beach Bar + Grill is a restaurant and bar that opened in West Haven, Connecticut in December…read more2022. It was founded by business partners Gino Fetta, his son Luigi Fetta, along with cousin and chef Al Dinofrio and friend Mark Lynch. Both Gino and Luigi have 60+ years of combined experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry. They had initially been looking for a space to open a new restaurant in Milford, but then they learned of the availability of a space along the shoreline in West Haven. The space had hosted a number of restaurants over the years, including Savin Rock Roasting Company. Gino is a lifelong butcher and had previously operated as the "meat man" behind the aforementioned restaurant. Luigi has a wealth of knowledge of mixology and a strong passion for food. The father and son completely gutted the space, gave it a nautical theme, and named their eatery after the nearby Oak Street Beach. The menu (which is always changing) features a variety of Italian-influenced entrees, seafood, tacos, sandwiches, flatbreads, salads, and various tavern appetizers. I recently visited Oak Beach Bar + Grill while I was meeting up with some work colleagues for an after-work happy hour. We were all seated in the dining room area. I really like the nautical theme and the fact that the location is a short walking distance from the local beaches and the Savin Rock boardwalk. I first started off with a plate of "Stuffed Clams" (bacon, mozzarella, bread stuffing). The staff weren't kidding when they said "stuffed". The stuffing was seasoned well and the clams were very flavorful. I follow them up with the "Fish Tacos" (oven baked Atlantic cod, pico de Gallo, shredded lettuce, avocado crema). The fish was cooked well, but the icing on the cake was the pico and the crema. I washed my delicious food down with cans of Athletic Brewing's "Run Wild" (IPA) and "Upside Dawn" (Golden Lager). If you find yourself by the West Haven shoreline and are craving a delicious lunch or dinner then head to Oak Beach Bar + Grill!

The bar and restaurant was buzzing with laughter and excitement because it was Derby Day ! We were seated at Table 31 with Louis C as our server for the evening. I enjoyed a Stella Artois and ordered the 14oz NY Strip with Asparagus and Fries ($32.00) It was delicious, cooked to my personal preference (Medium Well) My family members loved their meal selections, too and we were all happy with everything.

Happy Easter Day to everyone who celebrates Christian Faith…read more My Sister and I had reservations for dinner at one of the best restaurants in West Haven, in most people's opinions. Duffy's is an Irish American Pub/Restaurants owned by Christopher Walsh. Being a holiday, Duffy's is offering both their traditional and brunch menu options. The dining room and bar is decorated with strong oak furniture, tables and chairs. The historic backdrop is filled on the walls throughout the restaurant of baseball, football, political heroes and of course, a touch of Irish heritage and American pride. The staff immediately make you feel welcome and right at home with their warm demeanor and bright smiles. My Sister had the Brunch Wrap with a side of Home Fries (Sorry no picture) I had to Slow Cooker Pot Roast with Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli and Carrots. Washed it down with 2 Smith Wick's Irish Red Ales. Our waitress today was Kenzie.... She was attentive and polite, did a very good job, especially with it being very busy. Highly recommend visiting Duffy's for any occasion, holiday or any other reason?

We decided to split the rueben sandwich with fries. OMG!! It was amazing, so flavorful and delicious. The fries were fresh and piping hot. The bartender was warm and inviting. Restaurant is warm, welcoming and clean. We highly recommend the sandwich and look forward to trying other menu options.

Today was my first time going with the new name- I am unsure if it's new management or what. I called and put in a to go order. The menu on their website is the same as when it was rebar. I called and said I'll take the strappazare pizza for pickup. The woman just said "ok" and was about to end the call. I asked if she wanted my name and how long it would be. Gave my name she said 20 mins. I walk in the bartender was sitting at the bar on her phone. I told her I was there for pickup. She said she didn't have any orders waiting. I took out my phone and read the number I dialed to her and asked if it was correct because that's what's on their website- She said she didn't know the phone number and said I probably called the wrong place. I dialed the number and sure enough the phone at the bar started ringing. She said oh I don't know what happened. When I tell you she was the only person in there and I'm positive I spoke to her on the phone. Not wanting to wait another 20-30 mins for a pizza I ended up walking out. The staff should be trained how to take to go orders and confirm with the customer. She took an order for a pizza they don't even have on their menu- and then never entered the order and pretended like she didn't know about it!!

We arrived on a Monday around peak dinner time, but there was essentially no wait (apparently uncommon according to my friend -- just a delightful consequence of dining at a college town during the summer). We split a medium pizza (1/2 elote mexican street corn and 1/2 bbq brisket), proving to be more than enough for two plus a more than ample amount of leftovers. Recently, I've gravitated toward thinner pizzas, a far cry from the typical Detroit (foccacia-esque) style pizzas I used to prefer, and BAR's pizza is akin to a flatbread yet very thin, another fallen angel to the GLP's. The undercarriage boasts a brilliant crust, almost cracker-like. However, it should be noted that the pizza is indulgent all the same. The elote pizza is quite possibly the most memorable, unique pizza I've ever had; it arrives almost crimson-red with a generous layer of corn and takis atop. It's still incredibly well balanced despite the hodgepodge of varied toppings. It's hard to pick a favorite between this and the bbq brisket though; while one is incredibly unique the other is simply sumptuous, nothing pedestrian about either of the two. The service is also impeccable, almost rivaling that of southern hospitality. I always thought Californians were friendly but something is in the air every time I visit New Haven. Incredible!
