I had the worst tattoo experience in this shop on 11/10. One of the artists, "Badger", told me he could 'fix' a tattoo I have on my wrist. It was 14 years old and in my dad's handwriting - the word "believe". He said he could help by adding in some white ink into the negative space. I agreed because it had over time naturally started to fade and bleed together. He starts and about a minute or so in he says "wait, what does this say?" My heart immediately drops. I look over and he has black ink and has started outlining the entire thing again (not what he said he was going to do). He had gotten to the letter 'L' in the word (lowercase) and had started to turn it into a lowercase T (or something, I truly don't know what he was thinking the letter was). Once I told him what the word said he told me "there's no I". As if I had been walking around for 14 years with a tattoo that said "beleve" and just didn't know it. He says he can fix it. Well he created a huge dot above the lowercase "I" that's not my dad's handwriting but "Badger's", in an attempt to hide his mistake. He also blended together the L and the I at the bottom and made the first E I still can't even look at the tattoo without feeling sick. Once it was apparent I was in a panic he kept telling me "it looks better than before" (maybe to HIM since it's now his own damn creation on my skin and not my dad's handwriting I've had there for 14 years) and "this is why we don't do handwriting tattoos" and "this is exactly what it looked like before". I'm sorry, what? Now it's MY fault you messed it up? Make it make sense. If I'd loved it and been so grateful he would have taken full credit for it. Not once did he apologize. Now I have this incredibly thick WRONG tattoo on my wrist that I need to wait to heal before I can get it lasered off. Instead of my dad, I now have a reminder of a rude, inconsiderate and patronizing asshole who ruined the tattoo that meant the absolute most to me. I'm sure someone from the shop will get on here and delete this, or comment and reiterate that it's "my fault" and I'm just a simpleton who didn't understand (what is it with some tattoo places treating people who aren't covered in tattoos like absolute morons?) This is the truth - one of your artists said he could do something and he completely failed at it, and then blamed the client several different ways rather than apologizing. He ruined and tarnished the most meaningful tattoo I have with zero remorse. read more

I came in to ask some questions about a tattoo I wanted and instead of politely saying that he wouldn't do the tattoo, Chad had to bad mouth the design, concept, and meaning of the tattoo. The point of my idea wasn't acknowledged or even asked into question, instead, the first comment made on the design was that it was horrible. I wanted it in my handwriting as it is a personal note to myself, he told me it was a bad idea (and mentioned it would age badly, but I was aware of that). I only came in to ask questions and was bad mouthed the entire time by him. He could have just declined professionally, but he was extremely rude and cold-hearted the whole interaction (even when hearing my dad had passed recently, there was no pause, he just continued to bash the tattoo idea). He implied that I could not afford the tattoo if he were to do it, and repeatedly said his bottom line cost was $175 (which I understood, I'm prepared to pay for a tattoo, they're expensive) but he was saying it would cost $400 for a small fine line- number tattoo, which is the reason I was questioning why it would be $400, not his baseline pay for a tattoo. Overall, Chad was unprofessional. I don't know how the rest of the shop is, it looks clean and inviting by the decor, but I would not recommend having a conversation or consultation with Chad. Also, to Chad: people get tattoos for themselves, they don't get them to please or appease the tattoo artist. Please just decline next time instead of trashing an idea in-front of a parlor of potential clients. Didn't look too good. (I am aware not all artists will do what I was asking) read more

He was prompt to get back to me, and captured the vision for my tattoo perfectly. I was able to sit in on another person's session, and I was impressed with his clean and comfortable his studio was! When it came time for me to be tatted (it was my first tattoo, and spanned across a good amount of my right side), he let me know what to expect, and made the whole experience very comfortable for me. Gotta tell you, I know some people who recommend this place highly, and their work looks good. Of course they got sleeves that cost thousands. When it comes to a tattoo costing a couple hundred bucks, they are lazy. I've shopped around for tattoos multiple times, I know the "GTFO" look and the lazy "MEHHHH" attitude. My girlfriend wanted a tattoo on her foot of a compass, it was an intricate compass, not just something simple, but obviously it couldn't be too huge, and coloring wasn't necessary, just shading,etc. We didn't say we were expecting to pay a certain price, we didn't talk price. We already had it drawn up and on a file on her phone. This young kid concedes to an old timer, he comes out and goes "Well I mean you should come back with it actually drawn up, because it'll take me an hour or two to draw that, and I charge 25 bucks an hour, so a 100-200 dollar tattoo will cost 50 more than it needs to". I've drawn all my tattoos, I have sketchbooks full of more I'd like to get too. Every artist who has done them, takes the tattoo because they like the drawing and I've gotten charged very little for big peices taking hours to tattoo. But, they took me about an hour to draw, if that. Drawing a tattoo like this on transfer paper doesn't take an hour. Get over yourself. So that was his first "GTFO" line. I know how tattoo shops work, they are freelance much of the time and the shop gets a cut, I have friends and acquaintances in the business who are incredibly talented. I mean, Dragons Lair Tattoo (now Shogun in Salem NH) did a simple tattoo for me for 60 bucks, and that was the owner . This is an hour tattoo at the most. And there was no one in the place, why not take the business? I offered to e-mail the file to the guy, or he could just print a compass off google image search and draw in whatever she wanted. He literally, looked at me and didn't answer, then kept going on about how he'd charge more for drawing it. It was like he didn't understand what a computer was...It's like an engineer that still hand draws on graph paper on a drafting table, obsolete. So we went to the new satellite store of Waynes Tattoo, FTP tattoo, on East Broadway in Derry. He went on Google Image search, within five minutes they chose a compass to work off of, He drew it up, charged 100 bucks total, had it done in 45 minutes, and said "Come back in a few weeks, I'll see if you need any touchups and make sure it healed okay." We got his e-mail and he found her on Facebook so she could get a hold of him easier. We live across the street from the shop...so it couldn't be much more convenient. He was so great, my girlfriend gave him a 40 dollar tip. She couldn't be any happier. We found out after, he used to work at Scorpions apparently. Apparently he didn't enjoy them much either. hahaha. I gave them two stars because I have seen work they do and it is good, but they are elitist A-holes for no apparent reason. You're not on Miami Ink, you're in a hole in the wall between Enterprise and a Sub shop in Derry NH...get over yourself. If you can't adapt with the times, GTFO of the business. They lost a lot of potential future business for the shop and the artist with their laziness. I was looking for myself as well, for a shop locally that is personable and have a certain style to replicate my drawings into a tattoo, possibly offer a unique perspective of their own as well. I went in here looking for help with a cover up. I was hoping to cover an old tat with some colorful mushrooms. I was told that the only thing that would cover it was solid black. I am giving a one star because of poor customer service and overcharging. So it was $550 for two and a half hours of physical tattooing and about an hour of redrawing a picture that I took from the internet.. so we'll give it 4 hours, so I think it's pretty expensive. The tattoo artist I used is passive aggressive with no customer service skills whatsoever. I'm not sure how they figure out that pricing but I paid $150 retainer and then I asked when I saw the drawing of the tattoo how much it would be and she said $400 and I go back and it was actually $550. because she kept the retainer, as well. Im giving one star due to the rude communications I had with Amanda while trying to set up a Tattoo consultation via email. Amanda's tone was very matter of fact. The scarcasm and judgment was easily potrayed in the multiple emails we exchanged. I ended up saying how I didnt think it was a good fit and thanked her. I do not trust someone with her type of disposition to tattoo me nor do I recommend Amanda for anyone looking to go to Scorpion Tattoos. I went to this location after calling because I was told they required a deposit for a tattoo to set the appointment. I drove there and spoke to a girl behind the counter. Showed her the picture of the tattoo I wanted, told her where I wanted it, and the size. She than said "for that we can do a walk-in, so you don't need to put down a deposit." We asked her about times and she suggested it's better to go when they open, but that she had plenty of openings for the next day. We showed up the next morning 20 minutes after they opened only for a different woman to tell me they were booked solid, that they wouldn't be able to do my tattoo today or the next day. We explained the situation and she just shrugged and said "sorry, but we have a lot of people waiting already." Than we asked about an appointment the following weekend and she gave us attitude saying "does it have it be a weekend?" Totally left a bad taste in my mouth. Not only did I walk out without arranging an appointment, but I opted for going someplace different. BAD SERVICE! Totally unimpressed. Clearly shouldn't have people running the counter who don't know what the hell they are talking about. read more

I went to Scorpion Tattoo to get my old tattoo re-inked. The actual tattooist was friendly & seemed to do a good job initially however, days after when the tattoo was healing, I realized that she had used the wrong colour red on my tattoo (it is black & red) & when I went back to resolve this issue, the tattooist didn't apologize & even seem to care. I went to another Tattoo business who did a great job of fixing this issue thankfully. Overall, I found the service at Scorpion to be poor as well & quite unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend using this business & it's services. Go elsewhere! read more

The space looked nice, they had several artists books available for viewing. Unfortunately no one ever came to the front desk to greet us. After waiting 10 minutes someone finally did come to the desk, looked at us and walked right by to the front door. After that I was all set on going somewhere else. I understand they can be busy but they should at least greet potential customers and tell them they are busy. We finally walked out and were never asked by the employee standing by the door if we needed any help. I guess they are doing really well and don't need any new business. read more

My first experience with Scopion was about 7 years ago when I went there for my very first tattoo. Being young and overly excited, I looked past the fact the guy walked right by me standing at the counter to go outside to smoke a cigg before even greeting me. Tattoo was simple. Artist warmed up after starting. Did a good job. Paid. Left. Second experience was about 4 years ago. Again, simple enough design on my thigh. The guy who did it (don't even remember his name) basically gave off the "This isn't an elaborate $ maker so its a waste of my time" attitude. Tattoo results = not what I asked for. Outline bled. All black tattoo and it isn't even the same shade on part of it. AWFUL! Totally ruined my desire to ever get one again. I finally just found another tattoo artist who i trust enough to have fix it. My friends had actually been there a few weeks prior to me going, and they said the place was great, prices were good, and they were clean. The day I went in, I showed a rough idea on what I wanted from google. What the artist came back with was way better than I could ever imagine being. It was PERFECT! He informed me when he was about to start the first line, and when he did my first reaction was "that was it"? Lol. Anyway, I would go back to get other tattoos done there. The guy who did my tattoo was Frankie, and he was awesome. He always asked me how I was doing, and would talk to me every now and then. I had been planning to cover up an older existing tattoo for years and finally decided to do it this year for my 30th birthday gift to myself. I did some extensive research over the past couple of years preparing what I was looking to achieve in the design. I reviewed 100's of profiles of artists all over the NH area and was sold once I saw Jesse's work. I came in on Saturday and was back in on Sunday to see what Jesse had come up with and to get tattooed. He was incredible to work with and his creativity brought my design to a whole other level. I am ecstatic with the outcome and would definitely go back to him again with any other tattoo I decide to get. Everyone in the shop were very nice and welcoming. I met Holly (one of the owners) and she was very good to talk to. She calmed my nerves when I first got to the shop the day of the actual tattoo. Awesome lady to talk to. I met Neon as well and saw some of her work. She is also an incredible artist. In fact all of their artists are incredible. Most tattoo places seem to shun a walk in when people with tight unpredictable schedules can't commit to a specific time and day for what became only an hour of the artist's time. The people over at Scorpion tattooing are not like this. I called one saturday looking for some simple work and they told me to come in when I could make it there. I was greeted by the artists and front counter lady and patiently waited for the tattoo art to be sketched. When we got underway people were very social as artists came in and out to watch, chat, and joke around. This made for a comfortable setting for what most people would call an uncomfortable procedure. I appreciate the laid back approach and excellent art work. It was an honor to get Mark Hesse, the owner, to do my tattoo. A lot of artists that have the time and experience he has work on an appointment only schedule and are picky about the work they select for a much higher price. Mark was fair, kind, and talented with his work. He did excellent work and it is appreciated. read more

The only thing I would offer to prevent disappointment is that if you are dead set on a particular design and want it done no questions asked, you might want to look elsewhere. These folks are frankly not going to let something walk out the door unless they feel comfortable with it. So, if you're looking for an artist who can create something amazing, go to Scorpion.
