My fiancé is a big sports fan so we took a spontaneous trip to see the Raptors v Celtics play. I must say, navigating through the tunnel was very confusing. Had it not been for our new friend Xavier (upstanding citizen) we would have never made it. Once inside, the arena is very similar to the ones in the NY metro area, but it does have great energy. We sat at the 300 level and for a last minute buy, the seats were actually pretty good. The court and players were easily visible. The Air Canada Centre is a decent establishment for large events and concerts. It's easy to get to, although parking can be very steep, so I'd avoid parking nearby. At a recent visit (concert), our seats were upgraded to a better section (due to an obstruction), however to our dismay we were put in a higher row in that section. So while the direction was better, the distance from the floor was higher. Sure, it was a trade-off, but fell short of the upgrade they presented it as. Like in any sporting arena the food is pricey and not amazing (aside from the wraps, those are pretty good). The popcorn seems forever stale, even if it's apparently freshly popped. However, the stadium is also accessible, has friendly staff, large and has some good seating options, so there are definitely pros as well. read more

I've been here a few times, for Raptors games and once for a Bon Jovi concert. In terms of being a big venue for stuff, it's better than the Skydome. I like that they have a decent selection of concession items, though the prices are unsurprisingly gougey. Like the tickets don't cost enough, amirite? Rather than buying a $6 pretzel, I generally opt for a $3 hot dog outside before the show. For basketball, the place was fine. I think we had good seats, because I could see the big Raptor and the small Raptor wherever they were... spit shining bald guys' heads, dancing in the aisles, etc. I... don't like sports. For Bon Jovi, we sat in the nosebleeds. Sound was okay for a stadium show, not TOO much reverb. They also had a ton of screens so you could get a closer look at the action. In terms of being a sports venue, I guess it's fine, as I consider watching live sports as a time to hang out with friends/Hubster, drink expensive and crappy beer and talk crap for 3 hours, though I'd rather do all of the above in a bar. In terms of being a concert venue, it's pretty far down on the list for me, with only Aero Hall and the Sound Academy below it in the indoor venue categories. But unless Bon Jovi starts playing non-stadium shows in Toronto, it'll have to do. read more

It feels weird to write a review about the ACC, as lets be honest... Anyone coming to an event at the ACC is coming here because it's the only place that the event in question. So it's not like a review would make you say, "okay let's go see what this giant sporting venue has to offer", nor would you be like "let's go see a Raptors game when they are playing at a different venue in Toronto"... Yet, here I am writing a review. So that out of the way, I've been to both sporting events and concerts here, and never been disappointed by the stadium itself. I could complain about the drink prices ($12.50 for a 20oz beer or $18.75 for a 28oz beer), or wildly overpriced food options, but this is all par for the course at giant sporting venues like this. One thing that's cool is that certain sections at Raptors games have the ability to order food and drink right to your seat through a dude that walks around with an iPad. The capacity is just shy of 20,000 so its a good size but where even the highest seats in the place aren't terrible. If you've sat in the 500's of the Skydome, you probably know what I mean. The reality is that the facility itself is well designed and functional for a wide variety of events, and the location is super easily accessible being right behind Union Station. There are also lots of bars and restaurants to hit after the event too, so if anything does get booked at the ACC, consider it a good chance to round up a crew for a great night out. read more

Came here for the Raptors vs. Knicks game. You have to drive around to find cheap parking. Since it was pouring rain the day i went, My friends and I parked across the street, $30(!!) After parking things went by extremely smoothly, staff was very friendly. I was nervous about bringing my camera to the game because on the website it said no flash photography, but when I asked the staff they said its fine to bring my camera. I had an opportunity to see a Leafs game for the first time at the ACC. They played Buffalo and there were some Buffalo fans in the crowd. It was warm during the hockey game! Wasn't expecting that. I was so old school I dressed for cold weather expecting to freeze the entire time. Seats are kinda close to each other. Not only was the guy beside me big so his elbow kept touching my arm, but he was also picking his hands and bleeding everywhere, so it made it extra uncomfortable. I'm sure you'll have better luck than that as that's an extremely rare case.. It gets very busy and packed so lots of bumping and brushing into people. They change the escalator direction depending on the flow of traffic which I found pretty neat. Nice, shiny venue. Up in the 300's and still didn't miss a thing. It's actually a good level to catch all the action. I can see how this would be a problem at a concert but it was good for the hockey game. A bottle of water comes to just under $5 and they don't let you keep the lid for some reason. You can tell a lot of good engineering went into building the ACC. The perfect venue other than the extreme price gouging on food and drinks. read more

It's been a long time since I've been to the ACC, last time was for a Heritage Classic game, which, as any hockey fan will know, isn't the most rip-roarin' event to attend at the ACC. Still, when free tickets to a Leafs game (booooo) came up, my boyfriend offered to take me and I really couldn't say no, even though my team wasn't playing. I had some concerns about the seats and the view... watching hockey at home is a great experience, what with the close-up shots, the HD feed and the commentary to keep you on your toes and informed at all times. I was surprised that sitting in the upper bowl we still had a good view of the ice and were able to pick out what was happening. We didn't get any food but I do know that prices at the ACC are generally VERY high so we purposely ate at a restaurant before we went. One of the biggest drawbacks was the constant up and down because people were drinking beer and having to pee lots at the game, so we were constantly getting up and sitting back down. This got annoying, especially when the row in front of us was doing that and thus blocking our view of the ice. This is likely unavoidable at ANY arena so its not a huge deal. read more

Won some Raptors tickets at work. First time watching a game and the experience was amazing. The moment we came in they were handing us free Raptors tuque. Lots of kiosk for food and gift shops. Got ourselves Timmies before entering. The seating was amazing, get to see everything that's happening on the court. They started with some announcement of the team and the players came out for warm up. Then they sang the anthem and the game begins. Every timeout and end of the quarter there's something happening, either cheerleaders dancing, stuff happening on the big screen, or t-shirt giveaways. What's not to like? We're lucky to have a bright, clean space to watch events, games, etc. in the heart of Toronto. Parking is $$$, but what do you expect? At least it's accessible to public transportation! Beer is tasty here-for some reason tastier than at other places. Albeit $$$. Hot dogs are mighty tasty (Nathan's has ones wrapped with bacon), and I saw one concession stand with Fried Funnel Cake Fries. YAY! Timmie's is also here and their prices are not inflated-so if you're that guy, go and and get your Large double double for a $1 and change and you'll be happy. So if you're shelling out $ for an event you might as well go all the way and enjoy the entire experience. Go po' for the next few days and it all evens out. read more

FIrst concert this year - Rihanna. I guess the center itself was okay. lots of bathrooms, lots of concession choices, good security (i saw lots of them roaming around and keeping order) and houses a loooot of people. I was gonna give it 4 star but the sound system seemed busted... very distorted. not cool when im there to enjoy a concert and the sound is all messed up. ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX.. everything happens here.. CONCERTS, BASKETBALL GAMES, HOCKEY GAMES, ETC.. it's central and in the heart of the city. It's close to amazing food and even amazing sights. It's walking distance to the CN Tower, a few high end restaurants, Metro Convention Centre, Rogers Centre, and Ripley's Aquarium. If ever you catch a hockey game or basketball game.. come early or take the transit and walk around the area; you'll surely find some beautiful sights and even more Team Spirit. read more

I've had a ton of really good times at the ACC, which goes a long way given that this is where the Toronto Maple Leafs play. I'm an Ottawa Senators fan. So let's leave that alone there. Firstly, I've not really enjoyed this place as a hockey venue. The top levels (i.e., the only seats that you'll be able to afford) make you feel totally far from the play, in no way as good as the last row Greys at the old Maple Leaf Gardens where as high as you were to the gods, you still felt like you were part of the action. Where the ACC seems to get it right is the incidentals. The food services of all things are actually quite good, though keep in mind you'll typically be paying NHL-prices for what you're going to get. There's also the acoustics of the place. In the larger sell-every-seat affairs, the sound is actually quite decent. If you're lucky, the venue will be configured into the smaller theatre configuration where only a third of the arena seats are sold. This style of venue makes the place feel intimate and far from a stadium show. I saw Radiohead perform there in that venue configuration and still get giddy thinking about it. read more

As a sports venue it's top notch. The seats are comfortable and amply spaced apart, the reply screen is large and crisp and the sightlines are fantastic. I've been to arena's in a few other North American cities and this is definitely the nicest. It's age (it was opened in 96 I believe) both helps and hinders it. It is in great condition but lacks a certain character that can only come with age, see: Madison Square Garden. As a concert venue I pretty much hated it. It felt too much like a concrete playground and just killed the vibe. read more

I've been to a few concerts here, namely Coldplay's Viva La Vida tour in 2008 Gorillaz's Plastic Beach tour in 2011. However this week was my first sporting event here. My company reserved a box suite for he Raptors vs. Sacramento basketball game. While I merely went to network and have a good time, I am not a basketball fan. However the service here compelled me to write a review for the ACC. As my first time in a box setting, I had much lower expectations than what I experienced. As soon as you enter your box, you are welcomed in by the staff and they offer to hang your coats. Every seat had napkins and a tall box of popcorn. After we all got settled in, the host didn't waste time in offering us drinks. I had both white and red wine, and both were decent. The host later on came to tell us that dinner was served. She uncovered the hot plate, which had quite the assortment of meat: pork chops, steak, grilled chicken, and bacon, with some grilled broccoli, stuffed tomatoes, and potatoes. Other food choices included PizzaPizza, sushi, caesar salad and bread rolls. While we watched the game, the host was careful to ensure that our glasses were always full. She was kind enough to inform us when the dessert cart was outside our box as it was its last round; typically, they push the cart around for anyone to grab desserts at all times. We had a large choice of all kinds of mousses, cheesecakes, dipped fruit, and candy bars. I picked a blueberry-chocolate mousse. It was delicious, but I was too full from all the food to even finish it! Box seats are truly an experience! read more

If you try to make some noise you quickly get sushed either by a suit on his blackberry or by an uptight ussher. There is something so exciting about coming here no matter the event. I always get pumped up for them, be it concerts or sporting events. The ACC is in a great central location very close to MANY restaurants which are great for a pre-game/concert meal. It's easily accessible from Union and you don't even need to trek outside the station as they're attached (perfect for those chilly and/or intensely cold nights aka Winter 2013/2014). I've never had to park here for an event but I imagine it wouldn't be cheap. Public transportation is the best and easiest way to reach it. The centre is very clean and well-maintained and has great service. Quick security checks before entering happen and all employees are very friendly even after passing through thousands of ticketholders. I've sat in both in the upper bowl 300s and 100s before and honestly, all seats are very good. I wouldn't say that shelling out a lot more money for 100 section seats in the upper rows would be more worth it than those seats in the 300s. Save yourself the money unless you're looking for front row/second row seats. Great sound for both concerts and games (MUCH better concert sound than the Rogers Centre) Food and drink are what will kill your budget. Try coming on a full stomach so you aren't drooling at the sight of any quick food or drink options. There are servers in the 100 section (at least during the games) but be warned: one beer will leave you about $15 poorer. Water...about $5 and they remove the cap. *sad face* Overall a great entertainment venue downtown! read more

We have been to the Air Canada Centre several times and it's one of my favorite places to watch a hockey game or lacross with the Toronto Rock. There are many concerts here. It's very convenient to get to the Air Canada Centre if you are taking the GO Train - expect a little walk from Union Station. The Toronto Raptors play at the Air Canada Centre, but getting tickets can be difficult. Also the Toronto Maple Leafs play here as well. read more

This is a pretty average stadium and actually rather small compared to all the stadiums in the US. Food options were as varied as it is in Chicago but without the culinary big players. ad tickets to see Post Malone last night. First the security said as we had a photo of the ticket he couldn't let us in. We were about to open up the actual tickets in pdf form from ticketmaster and he told us they needed to be printed and we had to go to the box office and wouldn't listen to us. We had to backtrack through security to the box office and the box office woman said we shouldn't have to print them and had to walk us back through security check who then scanned our tickets and we were fine. No idea why the first guy wouldn't scan our tickets in the first place. Next, we were in our seats after posty came out and a girl next to us starts lighting up a pipe. I asked her not to as my girlfriend has severe asthma and it would definitely ruin the show for us. She did anyways. She did twice. Of course my girl has an asthma attack during the show. We leave and go to the lobby where I tell someone she had been smoking weed. They go tell her not to smoke again and tell us to go back to our seats. This girl looks heated at us, she is continuesly smoking weed and of course security will never see it as she isn't that stupid. We go back to security and say we aren't comfortable going back to our seats as she is still there and my girl can't breath at this point. After missing three good songs they sit us at the back of the concert in the highest seats. So we get downgraded in our seats after paying for our tickets at an indoor "high" security event because we don't want to have to smell weed the entire show. What do we see the next row over after we get moved... A huge blunt being lit up. I went through security twice and the most they asked was to see my keys and phone. They didn't even ask me to take my hat off, they didn't check inside my girlfriends purse. Imagine ruining a night for someone who is allergic to smoke, has asthma etc all over getting high indoors at a family friendly show as I saw multiple children in there. Just goes to show you Scotiabank doesn't care about their guests. Imagine if my girl had went into a massive attack and needed to go to the hospital. They didn't seem to care. Next time someone comes to Canada we want to see and it's at Scotiabank, we're going to the Ottawa or Quebec show. And we've been to every single post Malone concert in Toronto, along with multiple others. Would not reccoment if you have asthma or any respiratory issues and can't handle weed even though there is security at every entrance and it's inside. read more

this is one of my favorite places to go for a concert. I you get the VIP package which includes a pre-show reception with food and drinks. The VIP lounge called the Platinum lounge and it's pretty spacious but also it's also dimly-lit which makes it romantic and looks a little more high-class. The walls are filled with wine bottles and there's always good food and drinks in there. In terms of the concert venue it is very spacious and the acoustics are great. If you need ear plugs you can get them for free at Guest Services. Going through the check-in line is pretty seamless and security is always helpful and thorough. read more

As a fan of hockey and music events I love a venue that is clean and with great site lines and the ACC delivers on this. What I don't like is getting ripped off when I purchase food and drinks. Yes I understand companies have to make money and yes I understand the ACC is a premium facility but charging $15.75 for a draft that can be purchased at even some of the more expensive bars in Toronto for $7 or $8 is a bit too much. The same applies for the infamous $7.00 pizza slices as well. Maybe if Rogers and Bell (who are part-owners of this facility were not so greedy, people would enjoy their experiences a lot more. I would give the facility itself 4 stars, and the food and beverage category 1 star (hence my 2 star rating. If you are planning to see a sporting or concert event here, hold off buying food and drinks here, and visit a local restaurant or bar before or after the game.
