He convinced me I needed a crown, quoted me a price and said insurance would not cover it. I paid, but subsequently got a substantial refund from his office. When I called to inquire why the refund, I was told insurance was BILLED BY MISTAKE and he was forced to take a write off. So Dr. Dater would have never told me I was entitled to a discount except someone in his office messed up. I had another appointment for check up and cleaning 6 months later, and at the last minute his office called to say they no longer take Healthy Michigan insurance. Money hungry and greedy... and I see he and staff took cruise to Bahamas. I would NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRACTICE.

While they try to work with insurances, they draw a hard line at using amalgams and only use composite resins. His receptionists and hygienists are kind, gentle, and friendly. They eased me back into cleanings and helped me overcome my fear of the dentist. Since they're the experts I went w the crown that failed miserably along w the root canal referral. On top of the crown they did not numb me before gluing my permanent crown on. That pain was so intense. How would professionals not know there was going to be so much pain? So anyhow I've always paid my bills but have recently moved. So I've been busy and missed some calls. They threatened to send me to collections over $60 on a one hundred percent botched procedure performed by them. They did not know the correct way to fix the tooth and did not. When I do repairs and they don't work the customer doesn't pay. At least I can sleep. I am morally sound unlike this " place of business". Also the lady that forgot to numb my tooth should be sent in for a drug test w her obvious under the influence slurring and random confusing chatter about nothing. Obviously under the influence. Out of 4 appointments each one was canceled, rescheduled or we waited so long to get back we had to leave. The tipping point was that I checked in for the last appointment 20 minutes early and was waiting after 20 minutes past my appointment time I got a voicemail from the office I was literally sitting in threatening me with a now show fee.........Maybe they need to stop accepting new patients till they can service the ones they have professionally.
