It was horrible, had to ask another patron if they even had menus. We ordered simple food thinking it was going to be good, it took about 25 minutes to cook a pancake, when we walked in - they had huge bags of potatoes on the floor so we were like "Oh this will be good" ... Not - my husband received frozen hash browns rather than fresh. His food was burnt and then the waitress gave us the wrong bill, I didn't notice until after we left - I always take a picture of my bill. Also, by the time we arrived home both of us were sick. I do not recommend this place, and all we wanted to do was to support our local businesses - but were treated like we didn't belong. Sad - Oh and the health inspector should pay a visit. read more

Check. 6. Great food cooked expertly? Check. 7. Absurdly low prices? Check. Setting foot in Scottie's is like stepping back in time...in the best way possible. Finding a seat is pure luck; show up early or be prepared to wait, but know that you will be waiting outside, because there isn't an inch of spare room inside. If you do find a coveted spot, grab it because it won't be there long - and be prepared to rub shoulders and knees with the person next to you. Don't worry; that's all part of the experience. You might not know them when you first arrive, but you'll be best friends by the time you leave. Pro tip: the cook is not Scottie. There is no Scottie anymore. Presumably there was a Scottie once, but his whereabouts are unknown. At least to me. Jackie is amazing. If you've seen "Alice," she is the embodiment of Flo. I'm kinda shocked I haven't heard her tell someone to "Kiss my grits!" yet. She delivers good-natured sass just as frequently as plates of steaming hot food. Again, all part of the experience. Your food is cooked to order in front of you, so you know it's fresh. Even if the place is packed it won't take long, because there are only a handful of seats. And about that food: it's damn good. You can't go wrong with any of the skillets. The biscuits and gravy are wonderful. The toast, slathered with melted butter? Heavenly. The pancakes are enormous and awesome. The coffee, hot and delicious. Best of all, when you're handed your check, you will invariably mutter out loud, "That's it?!" The prices are insanely low. They're what you might have paid for breakfast in the 1980s. Two people can easily walk out of there stuffed and only $15 poorer. Tip Jackie well. She deserves it. It may be hot in there. It will definitely be cramped in there. You might see a fly or two. You'll leave smelling like grease. But you will be happy and satisfied and already planning your next visit. I wish I could give this place ten stars for service, quality and taste of the food. The wife had chicken fried steak and promptly declared it some of the best she's ever had. She is a fanatic about chicken fried steak. She also said this place was right up there with our, till now only, favorite breakfast place Manny's Snack Shack. I had the biscuits and sausage gravy with hash browns and an over medium egg. Some of the best, if not the best I have ever had. Let's talk about that over medium egg. Husband and I stopped here with 2 other couples for breakfast. We watched the cook make our breakfast. We all enjoyed the food. This is a genuinely retro hole in the wall diner with 15 or so stools around the counter. My "Mounds" skillet (sausage, mushrooms, cheese and 2 eggs) came on top of what seemed like a pound of hashbrowns. The skillet and coffee was $8.20 tax included. The food and service were excellent. A little hole in the wall. An old fashioned diner restaurant in Fort Atkinson, WI. ( minus the old train car) But don't be deterred by the Main Street location; just look for the little Coke sign outside. Step on in the door and it's like "CHEERS" from the '80's! Everyone looks and seems friendlier than one might expect. Belly on up to the counter; there's 9 stools around the counter and the show is in the center. That's where the magic happens. Scottie is grilling up world class hash browns for some of his famous skillets like the veggie (peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, two eggs any style and topped with cheese if your choice. (There's Swiss, cheddar, Colby Jack, American) there's an all meat skillet and a create your own...they're all humongous and delicious. Scottie keeps his "regulars" special extras on hand like one patron had his own bottle of flavored coffee creamer, my guy loves Heinz 57 and though it wasn't one of the regular condiments found on our first visit, the next time we went back it was there and we didn't even have to ask; Jackie (Scotties sis) remembers everything and it's quite a special feel when you realize they got something just for you and remember your favs. Scottie is also famous for his pancakes... (I'll post a picture next visit) The regular is larger than the plate it's served on and two can easily share and be more than satisfied. Their flavor is light, fluffy, vanilla-ish with the perfect brown color and of course real butter and maple syrup; so "sasifying". There's bottomless cups of coffee, coke-a-cola products and did I mention the decor is all classic Coke motif...from the clock to the original 8oz bottles on a shelf, every Coke gadget you can think of. The menu has all your traditional breakfast foods; bacon, eggs, sausage, cereal, juice, toast of many choices including Raisin (my fav) , and there's a Half skillet available too because the regular size is so big you can have the rest for your midnight snack if your eyes are bigger than your stomach like mine. Scottie has specials of the day for lunch like the reuben sandwich, soups du jour, chili, classic diner food changes daily. Sad part is they are only open 5am until 1pm Monday through Saturday and closed Sunday's. My first visit I gave it a 5 star, this time, not so good. The eggs were not as I requested and half the potatoes were almost burnt and the other half, barely cooked. There were only 2 customers while last time the counter was full. Although Jackie (the server was not in) I think she keeps Randy, the cook, in line. It is small and only has counter service so it's not for everybody. When the place is full, everybody is 'family' and we have a good time. I will try it again. read more

How cool is it that you stop back for your second visit and the waitress Jackie remembered me. How was the food??? Stopped in after a morning at Aztalan State Park looking for some good food at a local eatery. Scotties was welcoming and accommodating.
