This is really neat! We attended last year and had a great time! I was glad we were able to come back this year. We really enjoyed the skits, clothing and definitely the music. We were able to try some meat pies too. Oh man, that pastry crust is amazing! It was really nice to see a large gathering of people again. It was pretty warm but there was plenty of shade. There was plenty of parking too so that was nice that this event took place on a huge property. My daughter really enjoyed that ginormous rocking horse! That was really cool! She also collects crystals and rocks so she was able to find more to add to her collection. Thanks so much Nicola for hooking us up! It was really fun. We had a lot of fun at the games this last Saturday! My hub's was on a miss to see if he could find out anything about his family but alas we are still on the hunt . But it was a beautiful day and great time talking with everyone and learning about different clans. My youngest loved watching the fighting matches. Which was crazy, cause it was full on a brawl with blunt metal weapons ! And I know they were padded and had helmets, but ache!! The food was good and bad, next time if it's the same place doing the fish and chips just stay away!!! $17 dollars for one piece of fish that inside the rock hard batter was an over cooked piece of fish smaller than my palm . The only silver lining was union jacks pasty , we got the tandoori chicken and cheese/ potato pasty's, yum! read more

This is absolutely fun! I honestly can't wait to come back next year and do it again! First let me say, this is my first time attending this event and my expectations were exceeded. My friends and I arrived around 8:30 in the morning and got a great parking spot. The Scottish games started at 9 am and were so much fun to watch. The best part about watching the games was watching the community that came with it. Everybody seem to be very supportive of one another, but of course, also competitive. I walked through the Scottish clans area and had a wonderful conversation with one gentleman who helped my friend better understand his Scottish heritage. Again everybody was super friendly! The peddlers area and the food area was just OK. There were a lot of people selling swords and knives and things like that. A little repetitive. I was a little underwhelmed by the amount of food vendors there where. By the time we left around noon, the line to get food from multiple vendors was absolutely ridiculous. It looked like people are waiting at least 25 minutes in line before ordering. No thanks. My favorite area was where the people dressed up in armor and we're fighting each other. Absolutely incredible to watch! And very intense. But so much fun to cheer on a team. The venue itself has plenty of shade, the area is clean, and Porta potty's we're nearby. This was an awesome and fun experience. There were a lot of activities, music, and lots of food too!! I was surprise to see the event was a great success. Never been there before. I didn't know what expect. There were a lot of people attending and everyone look like they were enjoying their time there. We came in time for some Scottish games. There were a lot of people dressed up. It was very interesting and fun. They had Scottish music band playing. They were mentioning about the history of the songs they were playing. The food, there was a lot of food and they were very busy!! From sandwiches to bakeries. All of the food businesses were very busy that we could not get anything to try. We got discouraged because of the long lines. Maybe because we ate before coming. Next time I will not eat anything so I can enjoy some of their food. They had some car show there too. Very old classic cars. We saw a unicorn too!! A lot of crafts that were Very pretty. I didn't take pictures of them. I regret it now. Definitely coming back next year. I can't believe this is my first time. I am very curious of other cultures and history of different countries. Maybe I don't get to see advertising a lot and I don't even know when is it going to be. This was my first time here and will definitely be looking forward to coming back next year, so much fun, music, food and vendors to visit. The lines for the food were ridiculously long and felt like they were moving extremely slow, it was hot out and not a lot of shade while waiting in line, next year I'll be bringing my own chairs. This was my first year attending here and at Kearney Park. There is a similar event held up north which in the past has been lots of fun. When we first walked in, we wanted to scout around and see the layout of everything because the map was pretty confusing and we couldn't get much help with directions since some of the staffers didn't even know where things were. I wish the mansion tours were left off the schedule because it seemed odd to have on there being a separate experience from the event as well as how far you had to walk to get there from the main event. Overall, the layout could have been improved I think. Bigger signs saying where each place was would have been nice too I wish more seating was provided for various sections where performances were happening. You pretty much had to stand or sit on the ground. We brought our elderly dad along who tripped trying to sit on the ground so that was unfortunate. I did see people bring their own chairs but with how much back and forth walking we were doing, I don't think I would want to. I was pretty excited for the rose and gauntlet competition. There were lots of people crowding the yellow tape despite the speaker telling others to move back. People who were sitting were blocked by people standing, at some point an argument broke out between an older woman and young man nearby because of this. Bleachers would've been awesome or at the very least a larger circle so more people can actually see. Other than that, the crowd did make it very exciting and kudos to the men out in the pen!! This was the most exciting part, I didn't get a chance to see the sheep herding since they canceled the later one. The athletics seemed to be going the entire time. More food vendors would have been nice since the lines were so long! The British pasties truck is always great at events, we didn't get any this time as we tried the Celtic cuisine meat pies instead..I really wish we got the British pasties! I was hoping for more culturally relevant food options too, not so much on the dip n dots and tacos. Altho those did have the shortest lines. I really hope they improve and grow the event some more. I'm glad I got to attend but I'm not sure I could justify the admission fees with how much we got to see. I would highly recommend bringing your own water if allowed because of how hot it gets. $8 beers, $2 water bottles read more

This was our first time to this event and I will come back next year! We enjoyed the gather, people watching, listening to traditional music and watching the athletics events. One complaint was how long the food lines were. We just got kettle corn for lunch because we didn't want to stand in one of those outrageous lines. In the future they might want to have more food trucks/vendors for this event. Also, next time we'll bring chairs so that we can sit and watch the athletics for a longer period of time. For me, that was really the highlight of the day. read more
