For better and worse I've followed WXPN for years (shout out to my friend Robert Drake!). But for whatever strange reason I haven't been to a an XPoNential Festival until this year. But I've always made note of how the diversity of the lineup always managed to successfully reflect upon the diversity of the station. And off the bat I'll also add that although I jumped upon the opportunity to be the point man at the Yelp Table with an enthusiastic HELL YES the moment that Monica asked me; They Might Be Giants, Peter Bjorn & John, East Hundred, Illinois and many others would have had me seeing it anyway. I do have to give it up to the dedication XPN puts into setting up the festival, Since I've walked through Wiggins Park as a bare bones park when leaving the Tweeter (whatever it's called) Center before (and will be reviewing now that I know what it's called), I can honestly attest to the fact that NO part of the stages, or any of the booths are there when the festival isn't in session. So that gives you the start of understanding how much they put into it. But when you factor in things like the entire fest being broad-casted on air, how they accommodate it's volunteers and sponsors during the fest, and then some it becomes abundantly clear. and the effort that WXPN puts into shows throughout. In the end I was beyond thrilled with getting to see TMBG and Peter Bjorn & John for the first time ever, and I also enjoyed getting reacquainted with local favorites like East Hundred and Gillian Grassie (swoon). But I also had the chance to discover new favorites like Perkasie and The Hold Steady. I'm not going to lie and pretend that things like the burnt burger with cheese whiz, the random bouts of rain, The Bacon Brothers, and the crowd who came to see Toby Keith play the Center of Evil Ticket Bastard didn't make me want to grab a shovel and bury myself. But over all the festival made for an absolutely AMAZING weekend. And I got to spend it all alongside some pretty awesome yelpers, which made for a priceless occasion.

Nearly every family member commented about how beautiful the venue was decorated in purple, white and silver. Also, we found the location without any challenges and there was plenty of parking. While many people consider this location for parties in the evening or weekends, it was actually perfect for mid-day and a repast. The owner worked beautifully with our caterers and even rolled up her sleeves to ensure our event was perfect! My family hosted a 60th birthday party at Fabulous events this weekend . I don't know if she was having a bad day or what but she was so rude and unprofessional, I was disgusted and disappointed. She was nitpicking at every little thing we did as far as set up and making really offensive remarks . She was irritated at something . It's one of those things that's hard to explain and understand, like why is she being so rude ?????? Even at the end of the night , it was like GET OUT . The man she had with her did ask how our night went but she did not. As far as I know , it's her venue so I hold her to a high regard. The person who we gave the party for was a stroke victim , who was still in recovery and we just wanted to celebrate her still being here with us for her 60th . Plus It had stormed so bad before our event that it set us back. We had a large amount of ppl coming to us from Philly, Delaware , NY and even Raleigh NC. So our event started at 5 but honestly ppl didn't get there until 6/630 cause it rained so bad. The owner was back at 10pm sharp and walking around huffing and puffing and making smart comments about what she wouldn't do and would do if this was her party. She made us feel very uncomfortable. Not welcoming at all. There was a moment while cleaning up that my sister in law was about to snap on her for being so rude . Honestly I would never recommend, refer or use this event space ever again. I was one of the ones shouting for ppl to go here . I own two very popular businesses in the same area , so I am in contact with so many ppl on a daily basis. I pride myself on love , customer service and professionalism. In the last 5 years Of being in business I would never make my customers feel so uncomfortable and unappreciated. We paid our money to be there . We went over and beyond to make this happen for the person we wanted to celebrate. And to have such a nasty demeanor was disgusting. The venue is nice , but there are other venues in the same area where we have had events at , with better aesthetics and was treated with so much more respect. She should humble herself a bit. I just really wanted to support this venue cause of how I felt before when I met her . Ppl show their true colors eventually.

Derek completely changed the start of our day. He was such a kind soul, incredibly friendly, brought us chairs, checked on us, and genuinely cared that we were comfortable and were going to have a great experience. That kind of positive attitude at 6 AM says a lot about a person. Derek made us feel taken care of before the concert experience had even really begun. He is exactly the kind of manager you want representing your venue and setting the example for his team. Such a great way to start what ended up being an amazing concert experience.

It's been a long time since I've been to a concert, and what I experienced at Tash Sultana's show was unlike anything I've ever witnessed before. Drums. Guitar. Saxophone. Flute. Bells and sooo much more. Vocals that soared from whispers to powerful crescendos. Every instrument seemed like an extension of Tash, and every note felt intentional. People often say music is healing, music is therapy, music is universal. Last night, I felt that. Not just heard it--felt it. The audience wasn't there just to watch a performance. We were there to witness artistry. To share a moment of connection through rhythm, sound, and frequency. For a few hours, strangers were a community united by music/frequency. The team at the Fillmore made the experience even better. From security and "Jay" at coat/merch check, "Meghan" Guest Services, "Bob" food & beverage service (Card Only). I enjoyed my "Vegan" Burger and the refreshing Wildberry beverage in a commemorative Filmore cup. Thank you for the recommendation, Blithe. "Steve" provided kind seating assistance upstairs. Everyone we encountered was welcoming and helpful. Those small acts of kindness matter and should be acknowledged and are very much appreciated. And to Tash--thank you. Thank you for sharing your gifts so generously. Thank you for creating a space where people could simply be present, breathe, feel, and reconnect with themselves. I've traveled through a lot in life, but last night reminded me why "live music matters". Some concerts entertain you. Some concerts remind you who you are. It took away from the overall look. If you're going to allow outside catering, you should allow some space in your kitchen. Also, it was very hot in the hall, and that was before the dancing started.
