Was there for the first time after a work event down the street immediately the bartending that was bartending our group was not very friendly, but I let it slide. But at the end of the night after they left with a shift changed there was an older gentleman that is bald who decided to use homophobic slurs and he said, and I quote, "fucking lesbians "and racially profiled majority of my team because everybody wanted to pay separately and pay for each drink at a time and not have an open tab.They made them all leave. This place is not a good recommendation for anything you have to have cash in order to order food cause it sounds like they don't make anything. Everything is delivered to them and the drinks are OK. I know what I'm talking about because I lived and worked in the hospitality capital of the world for almost 30 years so I know what's expected in restaurants and bars. The people that were working inside this restaurant/Tavern would have been fired immediately on day one with the attitude that they had also, if you have Fisher's Tavern as your name, you should have a seafood option primarily like fish and chips and not burgers and cheesesteaks. Stopped in for a drink and a bite before heading to the Scottish Rite Auditorium which is close by. The people working there were friendly enough. I thought I might have bypassed the hostess, so I asked a bartender if I could grab a table. He said that they were "pretty heavy", and he wouldn't recommend grabbing one. The waitress was very nice and did a very good job explaining the specials. My drunken chicken sandwich with seasoned fries was a special and was tasty. Another person ordered mozzarella stick and chicken tenders. We each had a mozz stick and agreed they were good. He wasn't thrilled with the chicken tenders, but that doesn't mean they weren't fine. They looked fine, just nothing special. ~ Went to visit my sister in NJ for the weekend , and this is one of their neighbor dive bars. Unfortunately, due to COVID, socializing has to be outside. We we first arrived, I was mad uncomfortable. Their were people just sitting/standing at tables with one beer .. not really dining just talking. In the meantime my party is just standing, waiting for someone to welcome/ seat us. Sir finally came, saying there's no seating , but we could eat on the concrete Jersey walls they had in the back. Mind you, were the only black people there. Don't think he meant any negative intent, but I was like , naw we're just gonna find another place to eat at. At this same time two men who were just drinking and watching the game gave us their bench and sat with their buddies. Now the atmosphere was amazing. Friendly folk that recommended food and started great bar debates. I loved them. Place just needs to add one more bigger t.v outside since that's were everyone is . Food? Everything was amazing. Just go in there and order whatever. The bread is absolutely fresh, and taste so good. Just make sure you add extra meat ( pause ) on your cheese steaks. Was just so lite and empty. Had to order 2. The fried pizza.. not much of a difference like you'd think. Just the dough is crispier. Good, but not my style. Staff was good. Neighborhood is beautiful. I hesitate writing this review because I want to keep it a secret... but this place is my favorite bar and it wouldn't be fair to keep business from them :) It's a locals bar where you can get a $2.50 lager and very reasonably priced food. No frills, no fancy stuff. Bartenders warm up as they get to know you and sometimes memorize your order (no promises). Cash only. Food and drink are separate tabs. Jenna is the amazing waitress for the chef, Johnny. She is outstanding and so efficient. Johnny is super accommodating and I had the pleasure of meeting him recently. He really wants people to enjoy his food. I recommend everything on the menu. They just started serving veggie burgers and I love their fried pizza. Great place to watch sports, listen to the eclectic music on the jukebox, and hang with friends. If anyone doesn't like it, that's fine. More room at the bar for me!!! read more

Food was good! Service was nice! This is definitely a locals spot, but a nice way for our food group to mix up the night. As it was national wing day most of us opted for wings!! But the fried pizza sounded too good to miss out on! It's fried dough with a pizza made on top! Very good& cheesy!! Buffalo fries were really good. Was a little disappointed that the hot sauce is "made to order" and we couldn't get some on the side to dip. The garlic hot is good- but not super hot. bartender was super rude and disrespectful. i took my friend from ireland here while he was visiting, we're both 22, and the bartender would not accept his passport as a form of id because it was "not american" and that "he doesn't make the rules". as i respectful towards him i asked why he doesn't accept a passport while other bars do, and he said that's just the rules, and i asked what he does if other international people come in he said he just judges jf they look 21 or not. he was rude, short, aggressive and argumentative. read more

2009 World Series, Game 1 For reasons still unknown to me (and against warnings from friends, family and spiritual advisors), I agreed to watch game one with a born and raised New Yorker, who had relocated to Philly in adulthood. During discussions of where to watch the game, it was discovered that homeslice had never hung out in the Dirty Jerz, or more accurately, Southern New Jersey. We agreed it was high time to pop that cherry, and I couldn't think of a more Jerztastic place to do it than Tom Fischer's. The bar was packed with Phils fans young and old at game time. Our waitress got right on our drinks and kept them coming through the night. I had always heard great things about the bar food and it was the perfect night for enjoying some greasy grub. Everything we were looking at was priced around five or six bucks, so we ordered three things thinking they would be on the small side. Looking back, I do wish our server would have said something like "FYI, our servings are pretty big here!" or "Save some food for everyone else, fatties!" but we got none of that. What we did get was a huge basket of pizza fries, a heaping pile of nachos with hunks of breaded chicken, loads of cheese and diced green onions, accompanied by salsa and sour cream, and buffalo chicken tenders. About those buffalo chicken tenders. I am thrilled to report to all city dwellers that you can cancel your Philly Car Share reservations because there is no longer a need to trek all the way to Pic-a-lilli's in Shamong, NJ. Just hop on PATCO and jump off in Collingswood. Walk east on Atlantic until you are smack dab in front of Tom Fischer's. No joke, I would not know the difference from TF's buffalo chicken tenders and the ones they serve at the Pic. The sauce was tangy but not too hot and with a touch of sweetness. I would imagine the wings are comparable but I'll have to check them out sometime in the future. They also do takeout- happy football Sunday to me! Our experience was pretty awesome (for me, anyway - the New Yorker was a little butthurt) through the game. The service was good, food was great, game was awesome and the people-watching was hysterical. Please refer to my "local photo" to see what I mean. After the game, however, things took a turn for the dicey. Without getting into details, let's just say that sometimes small towns bring out small minded individuals. A slob on the opposite end of the bar made a very loud, obnoxious comment that would have been inappropriate in any setting. It was an unfortunate way to end what had been a really fun night, otherwise. Solid selection (from local micros from Tonewood to mass beers like Bud), really (REALLY) good bar food, cash only keeps the prices down, and a Touchtunes to keep the music flowing. Food is pretty good but the service not so much. Every time we go there it takes forever for someone to take our order. Actually left once because no one ever took our order. Last night was the absolute worst. Someone that worked there sat us in the back room with the pool table. Mind you there is an open window so everyone can see us sitting there, to be honest I actually felt put on the spot. The person that sat us told the bartender he was seating us there because there were no seats at the bar. The bartender takes our drink order and I ask her for menus. She gives us the menus and we never see her again. About 20 minutes later we have to ask someone to take our order, she has a complete attitude. The woman that took our order made sure to give us the bill for our food(bar bill and food bill are separate) after that no one asked if we needed drink refills. We were passed over at least 20 times in the very loud bar. Bartenders made sure to not make eye contact with us. All while smiling in everyone else's face. We had to place our empty drinks on the ledge just to get acknowledged. NEVER AGAIN. This place gives we don't want you here vibes so I will take my money where I'm welcomed. This review is long, LONG overdue. Props to Tom Fischer's for being an awesome little bar. I have been coming here about once per week for the better part of 2019. It all happened one night when all of the other bars were closed and my friend and I wanted a drink. Enter Tom Fischer's Tavern. Walked in, grabbed a seat and had a wonderful night. The service is friendly and attentive without being overbearing, they give you space but check on you enough that you won't wait for anything. They served some great local craft beer and have everything else you would expect in a bar. I have never had food here, however what I have seen coming out of the kitchen looked great! It falls into the dive bar category but you won't feel like you're going to get robbed walking to your car. Some nights are pretty packed so be prepared to stand, other nights...no worries finding a seat. Be open and come make a new friend. read more

I'm working on a meager schedule and paycheck -- so every now and again, I don't tip my tender (ESPECIALLY if he's going to antagonize me). Kevin ("the bar manager") hung up on me twice while I called to ask for the owner/bar manager. Today (5/7/17), the bartender called me out on it and banned me from the bar? I haven't tipped him specifically, but I DO tip when I can. My mom died today (anniversary), and I find that ridiculous. I'll be calling the owner. I went here on a Saturday night with a dear friend. We had crab fries- the best crab fries ever- much better than that "famous" crab fry place. Then a cheese steak- it was awesome too. We had many cocktails between us, all expertly prepared. We played the jukebox and then we left- this is where it gets good. The bartender- he was awesome, by the way- followed me outside to make sure I wasn't driving and could get an Uber. He didn't need to do that, but he did. Great reviews already. Yes, this place is a classic jersey dive bar, but with a twist, the food here is better than some of the restaurants in the area. Seriously. Tucked away like a redheaded step child next to Patco (I'm redheaded, so i can say that) with a small off street parking lot and huge following of fans, this place is probably the best dive bar for anyone over the age of 22 in the area. Under 22? Go to Slates. see my review. Open until ungodly hours, like 3am I think, the crowd consists of an interesting blend of hardcore redneck regulars, area restaurant staff just off their shifts, the previously reviewed occasional rock-of-love/charm school girls, meatheads, and general neighbors from the area. Don't smoke? Be prepared to walk through a permanent cloud outside any portal providing entrance/egress. Especially the enclosed 'deck'. Smoke? This is the place for you. Get your food and drink and head out to the deck to puff your face off. The pool table is usually backed up about four games deep, but playable if you're pleasant and patient. The bathrooms aren't the taj mahal, but clean and stocked with towels and soap on a regular basis. Beer is cold, and I swear they have every freaking liquor known to man lining the walls behind the bar. Large, crystal clear flat screens line the walls, usually all turned to different sports unless it's hockey season, when it's all about the hockey. The food is, for bar food, the best in the area. Wings in a dozen flavors including teriyaki, garlic, and burn your face off. Fries cut thick and prepared in peanut oil so they are crunchy outside yet tender inside, and well salted without being overwhelming. Ribs that fall off the bone, slathered with home made barbecue sauce that can't be beat. Onion rings are made fresh, and the bets I've had in a while, with a delicious beer battering over real thick slices of fresh onion. Even the soleslaw is good. No deep fried pickles, but everything else is delicious, served in large portions, and cheap. Again, perfect bar food. Beer ranges from cheap to moderate ($2-5 a pint) depending on what you order, and mixed drinks/shots are similarly priced. Sue and Tom are usually manning the bar, and pleasant but there to work, so have your order ready and don't waste their time, lest ye get 'the look'. Tipping and return visits help to warm them up. There's a jukebox. Don't play it the first night there and load it with Abba, or linkin park, or whatever. It won't endear you to the crowd. Stop in a couple times before saddling up to play your Ricky Martin. Parking is tight, with maybe twenty spots scattered around the back and sides of the building. after that you're on your own for street parking. So stop in, order a pitcher of ice cold beer and some wings and enjoy! read more

I cannot believe this place getting such high reviews, even for a dive bar (and I've been to many) it's awful. It's all locals. They only interact with each other. Boring, unattractive red-neck people. Unfriendly and slow bartender. Food ok for bar food, nothing special. Portions are large, but who cares if you don't have the stomach capacity of a manatee? Not even worth bringing home leftovers. Girl who takes food orders/cooks(?)/brings out food is friendly and nice. Good jukebox! Several TV's - all tuned to sports, of course. Cash only, has ATM machine with a high fee. Pool table in a separate room, saw nobody using it. Tables and chairs outside for smokers on sort of a deck thing. Can buy beer to go, which is what I did. This is a nice "dive" type bar on the edge of Collingswood, While the decor is somewhat dated(didn't wood paneling go out in the 70's?), they have a pretty decent selection of beers on tap. The food there is pretty standard pub grub. The burgers good, the chicken cheeseteak was excellent. My favorite is the Uncle Buck, which is a chicken sandwich with cheese, bacon and a big honking onion ring on it. The digital jukebox there has a plethora of songs, and you'll run through the gamut on a busy Friday/Saturday night there. My only gripe is that they are understaffed on Friday/Sat nights sometimes so service can be slow because they've got one waitress ping-ponging between rooms and customers. Oh yeah, they also sell beer to go, which is nice when you have to go back to good old dry Collingswood. Hmm, thinking about the food has made me hungry. The bar itself has an odd shape to it, everyone is facing the wall even though it is a pretty long bar. There is an interesting mix of patrons, many different ages and backgrounds. The music playing from the jukebox is equally all over the place. We were sitting in booths, and ended up ordering from the bar because we couldn't tell there was a waitress. The waitress was a bit slow, and disappeared on and off throughout the night. My friends are regulars and said this waitress must have been new, as they did not recognize her. This place represents the odd mix of people who live in the Collingswood area. It is definitely a dive, and cheap. It works alright to sit down for a cheap drink and a bite. Really. How has it taken me so long to review this place? I practically grew up here. I love Fischer's. Like, if this bar, as a whole, were a man, he'd be burly and tattooed, yet sensitive, and an excellent vegetarian cook with a green thumb and a penchant for writing poetry. I have met regretable flings here. Long term boyfriends. Rebounds. One night stands. One night friends. Lifelong friends. (And stolen a lot of toilet paper...sorry!) Sit here alone on a Sunday night. There are only 7 or 8 people at the bar tended by Kevin (seriously the world's best bartender). You will hear some great tunes, catch some hilarious gossip, and find yourself engrossed in conversation with a fascinating stranger (maybe even me!). I really wouldn't be who I am today (a surprisingly responsible adult-ish gal) without having spent the majority of my 20's here. Kevin, Sue, Lydia, Gypsy, and the always amazing Jerry the regular have approved or disproved boyfriends, jobs, educational choices, and living situations for me for as far back as I can remember. This was great neighborhood bar. We were looking for a place to hang out and for my son and boyfriend to play some pool. We came across this place and figured we would check it out. We go inside and the pool table is in a little room by itself, which is fine because you have a window access to the bartender. Everyone in here was friendly and great. My guy actually came in and asked my boyfriend if he could play my son in a game. Now my son is 19 and plays pool but he not like a pool shark or anything. So this guy was awesome, he came in and play a game with my son, but he was showing my son better ways to shoot. This is a place that reminds me of Cheers. read more

It's the neighborhood bar where everybody forgets your name! The ambiance is dark and quiet wether you are here at 1 pm or 11 pm, and the decor is Spartan at best and somewhat dingy. The wings and cheesesteaks are solid staples and this is the last or a few remaining neighborhood corner bars where everything seems to be owned by the Pj wheelie and group. We had the joy of coming in for March madness and watching a local not only fall asleep at the bar but fall out of his chair as well! Please be mindful that it is cash only and the juke box will be held hostage by country music that nobody could enjoy even after having six or seven beers. Oh, Tom Fischer's, you should be the first place I look when something important gets misplaced. Wedding band falls off, no problem, the waitress at Fischer's has it. Driver's license lost? Nope, just hidden under the register drawer waiting for me to come back in. That should tell you a few things about Fischer's. 1.
