Will start off saying the welds and bolt on parts on my Scott's frame are very nice, but unfortunately the ability to follow a customers build sheet is pretty lacking. If I was buying a front suspension kit I would probably give a 5 star review, but as far as a full frame I can barely justify a half star review. Problems I have with my Super Scam frame are - Rear Rails: The rails were pinched without prior consultation (factory width was requested, although I wasn't charged for this unwanted modification) and they lack the mandatory "double kick" required for the vehicle to lay frame. This necessitates extensive modifications, including installing C-notches and relocating bag and shock mounts to accommodate the required extra 6" of travel.   - Differential Width: The rear differential was built 4 inches narrower than specified.   - Mounting Points: Only three of the eight running board mounting holes were correctly positioned, with several left undrilled.   - Engine and Radiator Fitment: The engine mounts require a 2-inch relocation to accommodate a stock-dimension water pump and radiator without any type of cooling fan. Furthermore, the radiator mount requires cutting and re-welding to achieve the correct angle.   - Plumbing: New brake and fuel lines must now be fabricated to accommodate the necessary frame modifications. I honestly thought that if I built multiple 35-40 Ford frames per year I'd be able to put out a properly built frame. I've emailed, called and sent photos back and forth about the rear of the frame (the only complaint I had addressed) for 2 months before it was admitted that the frame was built incorrectly, and at that time I was told they wanted to help fix the issue and would ship me a C notch and appropriate fuel/brake line and hardware to extend the lines over the C notch for me to install at my cost and time. For two more months biweekly I would call (as my emails got no response) to be told they'd find out what the hold up to ship the required parts was and get back to me, and no response until I called back in two weeks to be told the same thing. After 140 days from the day it was admitted the frame was incorrectly built, I sent a email stating that I was sourcing the required parts locally to address my C notch project, which promptly I was called and sent an email again stating they wanted to help with making it right. I have given up on Scott's to do anything for me, I don't have another 140 days to get the same run around story, it's unfortunate the lack of customer service and willingness to stand behind their work and products. Unfortunately being almost 2000 miles away doesn't give me the option to return the frame to them to rectify the problems so it leaves it up to me to fix all the shortcomings with no compensation. read more

Had a custom chassis made with engine, tranny, wheel and ride height all forwarded to them. Mounts were wrong for cab and bed. The ride height was 4" off. The frame had to be rebuilt by another shop. The steering geometry was not even usable. The welds were pretty, but did not penetrate. The frame was very weak and had to completely redo 90% of it. They offer ZERO to correct. read more

I placed an order for approximately $5k worth of custom suspension parts over the phone, they processed my credit card. My mechanic backed out of the install less than a week later. This was several weeks before it was ever going to go into production. When I called to cancel I was informed of their "10% credit card transaction fee." They attempted to keep over $500 to cover credit card fees that are typically around 1.5%. When I pointed this out, the added administrative and staffing costs to the list of reasons as to why they were keeping my money. Those are the costs of doing business. I will provide the good and the bad from the product and service received from Scotts Hot Rods. I have rebuilt 1965 Mustang with TCI IFS, 67 Mustang with heidts components, and 1953 F100 with TCI IFS and Rear 4 link set up and now a 57 Chevy Truck with Scotts IFS, rear 4 link, rear axle housing & gas tank. Of all the projects and suppliers - Scotts ranks the lowest overall and TCI has been great...keep in mind my purchase is several years old now as this build is taking a long time. Things may have changed from when I purchased...but here is my experience. The good (Scotts') - weld quality and machining of UCA and LCA as well as rear 4 link parallels and axle housing is outstanding. Perfect row of TIG nickels and beautiful machined ends and threads. Packaging and delivery great..lead time and price very good. The bad - 1) Pan hard bar was short 4inches...I tried to return for correct one and they acted like I was ripping them off. 2) Once i got the correct one..I found out their design was way off. The pivot point bracket if welded to the frame as they intended...would allow the upper link bar to hit the panhard bar. (4 Link inside frame rails) . They welded the connecting point for the panhard bar on the axle to fit in the front of the axle - not behind. I had to make a bracket that raised the panhard bar to avoid contact and now panhard bar not parallel (not ideal). 3) Front IFS cross member is pre-notched by Scotts to fit your frame and set ride height. Notch was not wide enough...I modified it..no biggie. ...but found that ride height was way off...my truck was sitting way high - over 3 inches from what I told them I wanted...so a spacer was welded to frame to raise IFS and lower ride height. 4) The spindles rec'd were not drop spindles that I ordered...so I tried to exchange...they would not..so I had to buy another set (thought about using heidts or other but did not know if it would fit Scotts set up). 5) Now I am finally fitting a bed and find that the gas tank I bought has a filler tube right in the middle of a metal strip to hold down wood...not in middle of wood strip like every other well designed tank. I had none of these issues with TCI who had better design, better service and easy to adjust front end alignment. The Scotts front end is going to be expensive to get aligned - I do not like the design. I know that when you do custom modifications...there are things that you fabricate a solution for...but I would not go back to Scotts on any future builds. read more

Marcus Edel from Jem Klassics had his employee David (also a friend of our company) order a pedal assembly for a 40 ford frame mount pedal assembly with brake only. David told us that he needed a brake only pedal assembly and that he was going to adapt the factory clutch pedal to our brake pedal assembly. We told him it wouldn't work, but David said that his boss, Marcus, insisted that he would make it work somehow. The pedal was sent up there and it did not work as expected. We decided that we would help them by building a different style (free of charge) that may work a little better. This was only because David was a friend of ours. We also offered them the option of returning it. Marcus decided he would rather attempt to make it work. We asked that the first pedal be returned to us so that we could put it back in stock. Within 3 days Marcus called to our office and began swearing at our office manager. She became upset and passed Marcus on to me. Marcus began using expletives because he said he was missing a remote line kit. I explained to him that it was a back ordered item, but he was welcome to try and source it local if he would like a refund. He opted to wait. As soon as the line kit's were back in stock, it was shipped directly to him with no delay. During that time I spoke with Marcus no less that 4 times. All 4 times he used foul language and attempted to "bully" whomever it was on the phone. Again, he was offered a refund if he did not want to wait for the items to be back in stock. Timeline: on 2-10-14 his order was placed. on 2-26-14 his order was shipped less back ordered items on 3-04-14 his second custom pedal was made and shipped on 3-19-14 his back ordered items were shipped To this date, the original pedal assembly has not been returned and Jem Klassic still owes us $170.10 David (his former employee) explained to us that this is a very common thing for Marcus to do and that he not only has he defamed our business, but he does it to others as well. Marcus is simply an internet bully that enjoys writing bad reviews. Of his 6 yelp reviews, 2 are negative and 1 is on his own business. I had the pleasure of speaking with Justin about their Nova IFS suspension. Justin took all the time in the world to explain their product and refused to bad mouth their competitors. This was very professional. I love that all their stuff is made in house and what parts they buy are all USA made. I have called back and spoke with Justin about possibly having them make the rear suspension for my 63 Nova SS. Again Justin was very informative and made me comfortable knowing I'm having the right company helping me build my car. The price was more than I wanted to spend but I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for!!!! Now the only hard part is waiting for the front clip. This place sucks. Two thumbs down. Justin is a ripoff. He will sit there in his chair and lie right to your face. He destroyed my truck. Let's start at the front. The steering linkage was binding up causing me to almost get into several accidents. He didn't put lock tight on any bolts so when I took it to a professional he showed me the bolts were almost ready to fall out. I ordered a crate motor from Jegs. Justin put it in and told me there was oil in the coolant and that I had a cracked block. He charged me to install the engine. Then he wanted to charge me to take it out and send it back to Ford. I was so pissed when I talked to Ford because they called bullshit on Justin and said the engine was tested and good. When I told Justin this, miraculously the engine was fine and he told me it probably had oil in it from shipping, another lie. He put the batteries in the back which made no sense at all and then zip tied the transmission fluid line to the positive battery cable causing my truck to burst into flames while I was driving it on the 101 fwy. Next he used silicone when he put the carburetor together causing it to clog up everything. His rear end four link suspension was put in with only 3/4" of clearance causing the rear differential to smash up my bed. Listen, I could go on and on about what a crappy place this is but I think you get the point. Jeff who runs the front and the receptionist are both awesome and deserve better. My point is, my truck blew up with ME in it. I am incredibly lucky to be alive. My insurance ended up suing him and winning proving his negligence in the matter. My recommendation before dealing with Justin is to ask around, ask any hot rodder what their opinion is of Scott's Hot Rods and they will cringe. Also, look them up on the Better Business Bureau and see for yourself. Run, don't walk, run far away from this place! read more
