Buyer beware We had Scott's replace our roof about 3 years ago and we're very happy. Fast forward to 2023 and the big hail storm in Erie Commons. We refused all other solicitors and went right to Scott's. They were quick with an estimate and although it was a few thousand more that our insurance company estimate, we said go ahead and they assured us they would deal with our insurer. They then asked for our insurance estimate. I sent this to them stating it included other damage claims (personal property and painting) but that they could pull the gutters and roof estimate and give us a contract based on that amount. I then received a contract at 10k more than Scott's original estimate! When I questioned this, I was informed they use the entire loss estimate but that they would only really charge us for the roof and gutters if that is what I wanted. Needless to say, this appears to be a bait and switch approach and totally unethical. I had referred Scott's to our neighbors and immediately informed them to look elsewhere given the number of local roofers in the area. Please look elsewhere for roofing needs read more

Matt from Scott's roofing resealed our skylights. They did a great job! Matt is a very honest roofer. He assured us our roof did NOT need any extended work after the Marshall Wildfire. Professional, Courteous and Excellent Craftsmen defines the 6 man crew Scotts sent out to do the tear off and replacement of my home roof. I got an excellent Proposal via Juan for a new roof using only the best materials. The crew showed up, set up and went to work immediately. The job lasted 2 long days with the Temps in the 90s'. It isn't often when you see a crew that really works well together but when you do, it gives you great confidence that the job will turn out right. When they finished, they cleaned up all the debri, used a magnet bar to pick up nails and a leaf blower to blow off the patios and Driveway. Scotts deserves 5 Stars and the Crew has earned my respect.........and I expect a lot. read more

Scott's roofing did a stellar job re-roofing our house after the July '19 hail storm. J.R. came out and looked at it right away and he even came back out to meet a second time to go over everything with our adjuster. J.R. and his team were all very professional and took good care of our roof for us. They made the process as painless as possible. Our neighbor referred Scott's to us and we called them. After a while they came out to our house and looked at what we wanted to get done. They let me know that a bid would be forthcoming and they indicated that they were interested in taking the job. After several weeks without any word I called and left a polite voice mail that went unanswered. Several more attempts to reach them through a text and call unanswered and I figured out that they aren't interested in doing our job. I just don't think that 'ghosting' potential clients is a respectable business practice. It's not that hard to say "Thanks, but no thanks", but totally unprofessional not to. read more

After the June 2018 hail storm in Louisville, our neighborhood was flooded with out of county solicitors selling their roofing services. Instead, I decided to go with a local roofing company that has a stake in their reputation with this area - Scotts Roofing in Lafayette. Denny, as the project manager to replace my roof, was extremely professional and and personable. I really appreciated his flexibility and willingness to define the best approach for my needs and wants, as well as for insurance company requirements. It was great that he didn't try to invent a solution on the fly during the first visit, but took the time (wasn't too long) to think about it and discuss it with his manager. He proposed a really excellent solution that allowed my to upgrade the shingles (naturally at a higher cost than pure replacement shingles, so out of my pocket), while also addressing the claim items covered by insurance. Denny got the right teams on board for the upgraded / thicker shingles and for the gutters, and made sure that the work was done on time and right. He has also been great about a couple of very small gutter follow-up items, and I'm confident that these will be completely resolved. I highly recommend both Scotts Roofing and Denny!! read more

We're very supportive of local companies, so I've been holding off writing a review in hopes that I could give a better one to Scott's. However, after dealing with them for months, and still having ongoing issues, I'm not holding out much hope for improvement. Our project entailed installing a new roof and gutters related to hail damage. The project started in December, 2018, seven months ago. I'll present the Pros and Cons of working with Scott's and let the reader decide. The Pros (the only reason they got 2 stars): - Our project manager Charles (who is no longer with the company) did a good job working with our insurance company and he found $1,600 due to us that the Insurance company missed. - After our roof leaked with the heavy spring snows, they quickly sent a crew to assess and fix the issue - bad caulking. - The crew they sent to do the ceiling drywall repairs did an amazing job matching the ceiling texturing The Cons: - Our roofing project took weeks to finish, then weeks to finalize with the insurance company. Every roofing company was swamped at the time, and there were issues with availability of the gutter materials. Still, we watched neighbor after neighbor around us had their projects finished in 3-4 days, and all of those we've talked to had swift insurance settlements. - Other than setting up our first appointment, Charles never initiated communication with us except to ask for money. Days would go by without hearing from him, after which we always had to contact him to try and find out the status of our project. - We found out our project was starting by waking up at 7 a.m. to people walking on our roof. Charles' explained that the materials people didn't always let them know when they were coming. In my opinion, a project manager's job is to communicate with all parties involved. A customer should never find out their project is starting by having people come onto their property unannounced. - Their final invoice didn't match the insurance quote. When we asked for an itemized invoice, they sent us - the insurance quote. It took several weeks of slow communications to reconcile and resolve the two. - If the owner blames all of the above on Charles, to him I say that the buck stops with him. Assuming he knew Charles was a problem, he should have contacted all of Charles' customers to ensure there were no problems. We heard from the owner once - to ask for money (when we were resolving the invoice discrepancies). - The worst part is that the ROOF LEAKED badly enough to damage the ceiling drywall. - It's been 6 weeks since we contacted them about the interior repairs and we're still dealing with resolving it. - The schedule we were given was that the crew would come by on a Wednesday to repair and Thursday to paint. It's now 7 days later and it's still not resolved. - The agreement with J.R. and the supervisor was that they would put a test patch of paint on the wall then come back later that day to get approval. The reasoning was that we all wanted to match the paint color and finish as closely as possible to avoid having to repaint the entire vaulted ceiling across several rooms. We didn't see the supervisor again for 6 days only to find out he had his crew painted anyway without getting our approval. The paint he arbitrarily selected for us is a horrible match. At this point, we're fed up trying to resolve this with Scott's. Given their poor communications, and a crew supervisor who either doesn't listen, or who isn't supervised closely enough, we can't and won't have this drag on another 7 months. We think it's time to enlist professionals who know paint and can maybe save us all more time, money and angst and, if they can't, to paint the vaulted ceiling and fix the damage done by Scott's roofing work. I'll update this review when (and if) it ever gets resolved. read more

So thankful after last summer's hail that Scott's was one of the companies I called. From start to finish Blake was amazing he walked me through all the confusing paperwork from the insurance company his communication was great. The guys who came out and completed the job were very nice and they did a wonderful job the site was clean. We had the added complication of Solar and it was so nice to have a company that could take care of all of it when Tesla was saying months out. The solar guys were great too. Dealing with the insurance checks through the bank is a whole other headache but I would just tell Blake what was going on and he said it was common. Highly recommend if you want peace of mind and want someone who really knows what they are doing. read more

Price significantly different from the agreed quote, it appears to me that they are trying to scam the insurance company, especially since the initial quote was lower than the insurance estimated. What they do is, they quote the customer a lower price to get the business, then they use they send a significantly higher price to the insurance, and use the customer as the middle man to get the money. In regards to their workmanship, I wasn't impressed either. read more
